  1. My car is similar and tips the scales at 1270 with a full tank and windscreen, but no weather gear or spare tire.
  2. I should have known it sounded too good to be true... I have driven at MMC and enjoyed the track. It was a fairly quiet day and I felt like I had it all to myself.
  3. I spoke to them and they sounded very serious and confident they will finally be getting the project off the ground. They expect construction to take a year. No cash is being taken until construction begins...
  4. Sounds like a great day at the track. I'm jealous!!!
  5. Does anyone have inside information on this project? The track configuration sounds fun and it is not as expensive as some "private club" style tracks. It is only 75 miles away from NYC and plans on being run like a HPDE event. Karl http://alpinesignature.com/
  6. Mike, All the mods look great! How do you like the aero screen? Do you wear a helmet when driving around Jersey City? (maybe not such a bad idea) Karl
  7. Great detective work Mike. My brake reservoir setup looks exactly like your original configuration. Guess I better replace it ASAP. What kind of hose did you use? Bob, yes, the hoses are not under any pressure. Karl
  8. I'm at Lime Rock on Saturday, but Sunday would work for me. I want to see Croc's secret weapons!
  9. Mike, are you using synthetic fluid? I had no problems before I switched. Karl
  10. Sunday sounds good to me! I'll be at Lime Rock that Saturday with SCDA.
  11. Sounds like Wilwood line is good. Wonder if they have any spiffy carbon fiber lines?
  12. Mine sweat too when the humidity is very high, I suspect we have the same setup. Only noticed it a couple of times when it was near 100% humidity. I have changed brake fluid several times this summer (uprated rear brakes/bias valve/Pagid pads/race master cylinder) and have not noticed any black flakes. As long as you have fluid in the reservoir and the fluid is not contaminated it should be safe, right? I'm sure you have thoroughly researched the best hoses...please share your thoughts.
  13. I miss Ben...
  14. I replaced the ACES ubit in my car wirh the Shift--i and like it a lot.
  15. Mike, did you know that you can get ceramic brake rotors with loads of carbon fiber in them? (Thake that!) The CF duel is on... Perhaps I'll re-skin my car in CF to keep up with the Crockmobile http://www.carbon-bits.com/
  16. They work good for me too. The mirrors taks some fiddling to get the tension adjusted properly though.
  17. I've got the standard Caterham exaust. To get the car to pass the 88 db limit at Lime Rock, I put in a modified Dynatech Vortex Insert Cone (inserted just after the collector and before the muffler) and that did the trick. While power seems just the same, I do miss the louder sound on the track. It makes me think I'm going faster!!!
  18. Yes, they are located in Germany. I got the one inch weave and the light weight wingstays. They look great with the 5" CF headlights. So far I have resisted CF rear wings, although both Mike and Ron have them...
  19. Check out Mog-Racing.com. I got a sent of 8" front wings and they are great. Not sure if they would give you a package price or not, but you may be able to save a little. Karl
  20. The back saver is more like a gooey memory foam than anything else. I need the extra room in the seats and this foam brought me a little further out.
  21. My dear wife made me back and seat pads using Backsaver foam from Pegasus. She covered them in Alcantera to match the seats, it made a world of difference. Karl
  22. I already thought about... one has to have limits though...
  23. After all the back and forth with the SCCA, I think I am going to stick with the PCA and go to Summit Point (Summit Point Circuit) that weekend. I think they still have openings if any of the DC guys can make it! RTR-PCA Summit Point is open to non-PCA members and non-porsche cars. I just tell them I have an air cooled flat six in the boot!!!
  24. Michael, The seat is adjustable and along with a couple of phone books you should be all set. Getting the seats back as far as I did and down as low as I did took a fair bit of effort with a big hammer. I even had to add a steering wheel spacer so I could reach it.
  25. So here is the good word from the MoHud SCCA track chair. They only have 75 registrants at this point, so they may be looking for more people. It looks like they don't really want to instruct too much. Anyone interested in going? Alternatively, I am thinking about going to Summit Point with the Philly PCA that weekend. (Mike, I wish I could get two cars in my trailer!) Hello Karl, I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. Kevin ( the Chief instructor) and I were both heavily involved with a Street Survival event this past weekend and are just getting caught up. We had to take a second look at the SCCA Rules for Convertibles and your comment on other Superlights/Caterhams coming to come up with a decision we feel will work for all. SCCA rules allow Street legal convertibles( Registered/insured/inspected etc--with current paperwork) . When they are not street legal, they then have to fit into one of the allowed SCCA solo or Club racing classes. The Catherhams/Superlights do not fit into one of those categories/classes when they are not street legal. In Addition, many of the instructors we deal with have an aversion to riding in a convertible. If something happens, they want to get out alive. So...... This is where we are at. With your experience and car preparation (safety equipment wise) --and as long as your car is currently registered etc with valid paperwork, you would be welcome at the event. For others in your club or buddies of yours --we are willing to accept them on a case by case basis. We will be looking for Experienced advanced drivers whom we do not expect to need in car instruction all day, as we do not feel we will be able to provide an instructor willing to ride all day. All the cars must have SCCA approved Roll bars and equal safety equipment on both sides ( harnesses etc) I hope this helps. DJ
