  1. thats what i kept saying until i decided i wanted a crack at FTD. then ur right on those cones. at least with a decent CF, the cones may take more of the damage. sometimes, depending on how they contact, CF will slash a cone in two pieces. since putting on the new tyres, the car's paint on the sides and as u see the rear wings has taken a lot of abuse now that the tyres pick up as hold all kinds of debris. i always wanted to go CF, so may be i will sooner rather than later. though, i may have them painted and clear bra'd top AND bottom for some cushioning to rocks don't force delamination from underneath. I may keep one set for competetion and one set for show/cruise so i won't have to worry about damage like this.:willy: Al, run an event in the dry with someone as ur codriver, and we'll see what u say. he'll sit in my car while someone else wails on the whore and see how hard u want to be able to drive Orange. and Orange is light, and more powerful, and brakes harder. its close to being in Franken7 on the ToTD. AutoX is not for everyone. Laura and the kids demand ur time as well. but i beleive basing an opinion of driving in the rain that one time is a wrong example. I like it. i like the regular autoXers, i like being out there all day being entertained, and with my craptastic driving i am part of the entertainment. i'll have to go over the videos again to see. i wasn't spinning this day for a change. banked track is a giant cheat for a 7:hurray: i'm about 80% or where i want to be by the end of this season. have a double header the last weekend of the month and thats where i want to learn and get down my turning radiai/pin cones.
  2. relatively good day for me. getting much better. the new allignment helped alot. Snake Bit passenger wings show some fiberglass damage from some cones. i creamed a few (3 or 4) one run, and clipped one on my 2nd to last run which may be the cause of the rear chip. best clean run was my last with my codriver (instructor), which was 1 1/2 sec behind FTD, ASP M3 on slicks. codriver,Bo , after pooching his first two runs, was able to get to a tenth of a second off FTD. my 2nd to last run was my fastest, though dirty (32.1), 1 sec off the FTD. unfortunately, this was probably the last event on the track as 2 cars went to the wall. the first was an experienced member who sometimes helps out to he extent of event chair on occasion. smacked the front passenger side of his wrx wagon just beyond the point where they had tyres. the 2nd was a novice in a SM 240sx (swapped) that somehow lost it going into the finish. completed his run, but took several cone penalties after the timer. he was lucky and spun his front into a tyre wall. only a cracked aftermarket fiberglas bumper. no one was hurt in either situation. http://inlinethumb21.webshots.com/4756/2634515050099946657S600x600Q85.jpg inside rear of the front wing. http://inlinethumb14.webshots.com/18573/2457160380099946657S600x600Q85.jpg produced some serious enamel cracking. http://inlinethumb27.webshots.com/11034/2532933910099946657S600x600Q85.jpg stock bolts now using some faucet repair washers to expand the contact area. http://inlinethumb22.webshots.com/20693/2701657170099946657S600x600Q85.jpg put the old Prisoner wheels with allseasons (5 year old avon zv1's) back on as no events for a few weeks and i'd to take some more tread off these till get new tyres for them.
  3. postponed as Tom has a SWMBO plans. well play the weather by ear. maybe a NNJ autox on the 21st at Etown as a backup.
  4. not running it yet. hopefully it will be a winter project with a bunch of electrical tasks. u still up for next sundays pocono blat? i beleive bruce and dave are still paperwork issues so they may not be able to make it. i may be running my front wheels like mazdas. course, the won't be 275 wide.
  5. http://www.scottbarton.net/Videos/ScottMO145.wmv http://www.scottbarton.net/Videos/PCAAutoxScott3.wmv http://www.trackpedia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2490 what got me going in that direction my current video editting software doesn't allow me to overlay or side by side 2 different clips, so i can't accurately contrast my codrivers and myself. there's what we suspect and what is. the data aquisition gives non subjective data. and it looks bitchin'. edit: Tom, what i think i need to benefit(improve) my driving are throttle input, brake, and even teh lateral g sensor because i tend to add minor inputs on an autoX course. seeing where more exxperienced drivers are on what pedal is an eye opener.
  6. what issue? didn't see it in the october issue i was leafing thru.
  7. there are several programs that will add teh data into a funky display. it looks great:cool: getting the sync s very important, so maybe the all inclusive chasecam+traqmate package makes sense. certainly takes a lot of cents. i gotta find out what a local guy is using as his camera on top of his STi and see what the real output looks like. none of this youtube mumbo jumbo. guess he'll get co-drive for an event:d
  8. doesn't work with opera. nice cheap data display. gonna be hell of alot cheaper than Traqmate.
  9. bumpski ken G, if u made ur way over here, i have a warm co-drive seat if u want to wake up early on saturday.
  10. wreckless is always good:cheers:
  11. reckless is a better standard. my or anyone elses' Dragon videos would hidden be under the illegal stipulation. hell, even showing that series of turns marked 10mph on Hellbender would be no go then.
  12. ask which instructors run in SCCA national events; which ones run Miatas as track cars; who owns/plays with 914/917s. these will be teh fastest to adapt to a 7. anyone who is a good instructor or autoXer will be pick up how drive anything well.
  13. i don't think the Fukkus ever hit 100. think it ran out of tarmac and hitting a wall slowed it down the quickest.
  14. i'll get more info up tomorrow night. car meet in a few minutes. glad this go moved to T & W. i was gonna suggest we start a thread here. greta to knwo teh admin, eh Mazda! hankook factory page, some info on their compounds current model, z214 http://www.tiredealersites.com/assets/sitecontent/tireselector/images/Hankook/Ventus%20Z214_1.jpg being phased out z211 http://www.tiredealersites.com/assets/sitecontent/tireselector/images/Hankook/VentusZ211.jpg Hoosier R6 or A6 http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/hoosier/ho_a6_ci2_l.jpg Kumho factory site http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/kumho/ku_ecsta_v710_ci2_l.jpg Avon CR500 Tech RA http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/avon/avon_tech_ra_ci2_l.jpg Toyo RA-1 RA-R R888 some info on bigger r888 releases over the winter
  15. with the dollar collasping i think even the km/hr is almost a 1:1 basis:crazy:
  16. r888s should be in a better of supply sizes by mid next year. the larger diameter sizes came out first. i'd have to check if tehy are out in ur size. i am hearing experiences all over the place with these, all good, but from the ultra positive that these are a tic below the A6/v710 to they are slighly better than the RA-1. since Frankn7 will never be out in the rain, running old stock of RA-1s that will hopefully be on a nice discount would be great. otherwise consider the RE-01R which will give a chance if u get cought in the wet. i hear toyo has new one out for ultra street performance alled the RA-R. consider the hankook z214 as compettion tyre. c50/51 is the medium which should cover u. the bfgoodrich r1 got a nice writeup in GRM i think, though they beleived the kook would be better ona lighter car(tested on a subaru, they beleive it better on a miata). i personally am considering the R888 and the z214 as tyres for my original set of wheels when i wear out the allseason this fall/next spring. The re-01r may again fall under a rebate like there was this spring/summer. edit: re-01r isnt wide enough yet.
  17. shown underneath and to the right with the Sport Zagato on the cover. u can sort of make out the Caterham in the top byline.
  18. yes there is. i hardly ever have most it on when the sun is out. the again, neither am I:cool: I was telling ken that most of it arrived the week following TotD. i hope to have writeups on the newer bits posted. last night i was trying to find a place for mounting the Autocom base. so hopefully i'll have bunch of productive posts later on.
  19. thread http://www.hemmings.com/subscribe/current_issue.html?publication=HSX may be off the shelves already. article is already on the archives.
  20. you all are lucky. all the organizations local to me have that # reserved. i may go with 77 so a number can be added in for a codriver.

  22. awesome day in the northeast. weather was georgeours. no clouds whatsoever. a tick over 80 degrees. shoulda wore shorts. Ken G made an appearence sans S4 7. 3 other Lotuses, 2 Elises and an Espirit. Mark from LEO brought his 49 cadiallace that whe is trying to sell as opposed to his espirit. or Challenger. Pics will go up later.
  23. if there is a member from Cali in doesn't that mean that Al has to welcome them?
  24. what i have gathered from SCCA Solo rules is that every thing beyond teh series 2 is well, screwed. Prepared classes let the older sevens get by with 4 stroke engines at about 1 liter or less. most of the classes have a multplier on the displacement that calculates minimum allowable(?). gotta go back and read XP, i thought there was something that was possible...
  25. bimp for tomorrow. hopefully i'll wake up silly early and finish polishing what was interrupted by todays rain.
