  1. Some USA choices are QA1 and Viking. You can cut down the spring perches to accept 2.25 springs. They also have 1.87 springs and bodies, if you want smaller shocks. Wayne in San Diego
  2. Also try Bogart for racing wheels. Many in use in San Diego

I have had good use with this one and it is large than the 680. http://shop.odysseybattery.com/p/er22?pp=12
  4. Gearbox, I may be able to help you. I have a 62 Super 7 that has most if not all of the original parts. Pretty sure that my original trans has that part. I am located in San Diego. Wayne aka super7guy7@yahoo.com
  5. Where is the new shop compared to the Dartsmouth location. That one was harder to find than the Caterham location.

    Battery

PC625 is close with nominal sizes 7x4x7. Might have to make the battery box smaller. Used 3-4 yrs for my built zetec. Wayne in San Diego

  9. Hi, My only concern with outside air intakes is noise, if you are running on a track that has noise limits. In San Diego, at the Q, we are limited to 93dv@50'. I had to move the air intake into the cockpit to reduce the intake noise which can sometimes exceed the exhaust noise.

  12. Tom, Just picked mine from a local radiator shop that I found searching "alloy radiator repair". The first radiator shop just said go buy a new one. Mine doesn't look as pretty as when it was new, but they said it is water tight. I am thinking now of adding an aluminum angle to the bottom. Hope that your shop works out for you. Wayne
  13. I think that the S4 was the SCCA Dmod champ around that time.
  14. Think that the English guys did somethings similar to bring their cars over for the USA2005 tour. If I recall, something like 5 cars in 40' trailer. nose to lifted tail
  15. Be careful as I think that brown wires are the lights and turn signals. If you can find the british standard wiring colours you will see that there is standard that they follow. The black wires are ground and other colours are "hot" at some time.
  16. Mark Huffman, SCCA D mod has/had all the 2L for sale. Saw his ad on race-cars.com as well as DmodEmod yahoo group.
  17. There was a Honda Odyssey entered in the One Lap of America by some Honda engineers. It looked like it was well modified. Wayne
  18. Thanks to Croc for a well written explanation on the "insides" of insurance. Wayne
  19. Hi, Sorry to report from SCCA info that a 14 yr old female kart driver was killed on Sunday in Fort Worth. To get back to the 7 thread, I found that by removing two switches next to each other that I could install two switches, a fuel pump switch and ECU switch. I did this after realizing that any passenger would have no control if something happened to the driver. I now feel much better to have two switches that can be "hit" and controlled off. For some reason as it gets hot, my ignition switch will not turn off; just hitting the fuel pump switch and the engine dies. I can see that any vehicle competing without full cage or strengthed windshield frame, could benefit from this modification. My battery switch is in the boot, so harder to get to access. Also extra theft protection. Wayne
  20. Many times when I have looked at pics of sevens, in the background is a samurai or tracker. Wonder how many on the list have one of those; I have a third gen myself. Neat little run about parts chaser. Wayne
  21. Got curious, so ran some numbers rpm HP TQ 3450 90 137 4100 110 141 4750 130 144 5400 165 160 6050 190 165 6700 210 165 7000 217 163 7350 210 150 As rule of thumb, most 2.0L put out TQ of 150 and 1.6L put out TQ of 125. There are some motors that are outside these numbers, but they either have very high compression and run very high RPMs, or both. Wayne, 187 RWHP Zetec
  22. Sorry to hear about your trans problems. One solution for shifting problems on my rocket box was to install a machined brass strip to the side of the case. The aluminum case had worn down the factory stop. The brass strip was epoxied and screwed to the tail housing. Maybe this will be of help, Wayne
  23. I have been using a 1.5 watt SP to keep the winch battery charged while stored. Doesn't hurt to have a charge line from the tow vehicle to add more "juice" when and if needed. For the motorhome, have 5 watt SP and they required a charge controller so as to not overcharge the battery. The charge controller cuts out at 13.7 volts. Many of our newer "electronics on wheels" need SP to keep up with the battery drain if left sitting for too long. Wayne
  24. You can also send Porterfield a tracing of your pad and they can match it.
  25. Bill, James is correct regarding the sprung disc, but I disagree with the puck being abrupt. The abruptness comes from the solid vs the sprung disc. Since most solid discs have pucks, they get thought of together. I found from RAM, a sprung disc with six pucks and it works fine on the street. My previous solid disc, not so well. The pucks make for a lighter weight disc assembly. Wayne
