Tom, You are corrrect, Illumination (Jenvey) ITB and at least 11.5:1. probably over 12; use 100+ VP. 185 HP @ 7500 and 155 TQ @ 5500. Thanks, Wayne

Thanks Tom, I have a Esslinger head with the 32/29 combo, special stage 3 duration with stage 2 lift, stage 2 exhaust that puts out 185 hp at the wheels. It is time to do a valve job and spring replacement. If I can gain HP or TQ buy going to 33/30, it might be worth it. My application is autox. Your thoughts are appreciated. thanks, Wayne

Why do you say big valves don't work? The FRH has 30mm & 33m which is larger than the previous hot set up of 29mm & 32mm. So larger valves not worth the costs? Thanks.

Jeff Cashmoew Peter Raymond Elan of Mark Huffman Did nor see any Stakers in E mod; there was Westfield. Trying to get SCCA to have class where all se7ens (and other liteweights) can run together is like pushing you know what!

Did anyone else notice the results of the Nationals? Out of 23 entries, all but 4 (Elans) were se7ens. Good Show

Replacing bench seat with individual seats...
super7guy replied to centerfireman's topic in General Tech
Hi, I have added bolsters to sides of the back wood seat panel. Cut out from 3/4" MDF or plywood a pattern whose profile matches the sides of the car (curved part) and the bottom tucks back in to miss the tunnel, Removed part of the upholstery to be able to install cut-down hardware angle brackets on the wood seat back. Upholstery shop made covers in matching naughahyde, slipped then on and stapled in place. Looks good and works good for my D mod cat. When my finacee drives, angle forward the seat, support seat back with wheel chock and put pillow behind to move butt forward. Wayne -
That's real good to only have 10% loss in the drive train.

How close did they let you get your 7 into the Village? One of the UK mags had photos from inside the Village (with yellow nose)

Hi For all of those that don't like the new aero rules, engine placements, etc. in SCCA D&E modified classes, some of us are going to have a silent protest by keeping the headlights mounted when we run our street registered sevens. Our neat sevens that we love are aero bricks! Wayne -
I think that they are going in the wrong direction around the track. Remember, the water swirls the other way down under.

TwoBone Interested in doing the same for Avon slicks, if possible When you said "back out 7% duty and 8% GST" what is GST? How did the costs break down, tires vs shiiping I paid $125 for 4 slicks from the East coast to San Diego. Thanks, Wayne super7guy7@yahoo.com

I have been happy with this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sequential-Shift-Light-LED-race-road-bike-motorcycle-sprint-drag-racer-/260850918055?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3cbbed22a7 I set mine to be a max tq for first light and red line for flashing light. It does it own integration. Wayne

Anyone have experience with this or other muffler
super7guy replied to Ruadhd2's topic in General Tech
On the subject of mufflers, my next try is using the C5 Corvette titanium muffler. The cut down muffler weighs (guess what 7 lbs). I will tuck it under the clam shell. I now have a spiral muffler and Ultraflow. When I was running the BDA, it required two Ultraflow mufflers. I also have a custom made alloy airbox which directs the intake noise into the cabin. Remember, at the "Q", we are limited to 93db @ 50 ft. Wayne -
Is there a 'cheap' replacement for a live rear axle?
super7guy replied to No_6's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Hi, Over the years, I have used rear axles from Datsun 1200 (very close dimensionally with the original lotus 7 axle) and Dodge mini trucks (wamted to use a torsen). Just depends on what gears, diffs and brakes are available that you want to use. With more small cars on the road now, should be able to find something to fit. They will all require welding of tabs for suspension. I prefer the removal third member type of diff for ease of service. Needless to say, doing your research and planning will lead to a successful transplant. Wayne -
With the discussion on 7 brakes using triumph uprights, depends on which upright. The spitfire upright uses 3.25 bolt spacing whereas the stronger GT6 upright uses 3.5 bolt spacing. I was able to bolt on Wilwood 4 pot calipers onto the GT6 upright with a little machining on the caliper. Also lost about 10 lbs per caliper. Wayne

Probably the MSD coil. One of the guys here in town had his MSD coil go out during the National Tour. The dyno tune guy said that MSD is problematic and to stick with the Ford coils. YMMV Wayne

Dean, One trick that will help in shifting a right hand drive is to turn your wrist over for the 1-2 or 2-1 shift then turn it to normal for the 3-4 shift. Reverse is still hunt and peck. Wayne '62 S7 RHD

Michael, To help reduce the noise intake, I made an alloy air box. It is shaped to follow the contour of the sides of the chassis and picks up air through the heater opening. Lots of work to make the box, but looks and works well. Since the taper is to the front, no signs that the front cylinders are short on air. Haven't dynoed before and after, but it sure worked to cut down the noise. Remember, San Diego stadium has 93 db @ 50 ft @ WOT. Wayne
