It's a Rover K Series, not a Ford :ack: :d It's a great engine, very light, revvy and sounds fabulous. Unfortunately, due to the exchange rate, its really pricey now. See http://www.minister-power.com/support/index.htm Go to Engines, then MG/Rover engines, then mine is the 205. The 240 hp one is a real beast!!! Add in the Dry sump, Flywheel, clutch, water rail, exhaust, starter, air filter, and dyno run and then multiply by $2.00++ and then add in shipping, customs duty, and state sales tax.  Exchange rate was only $1.47 when I bought it. Look at the 240 hp version if you really want to cry. Tom Oh, and that doesn't include the cost of the Caterham 6 speed!!!! When ever someone asks me what it costs to build a 7, I say, it depends on how stupid you are :d Pretty, stupid eh?

Jon, it comes down to DM/EM is where they want us. The cars are just too dominant to allow them in any other class. Tom

Curiously enough that parrot had a brother who was for sale in a pawn shop. One day a woman walking by saw a sign that said Parrot for sale cheap! and went into the shop to inquire about it. The pawn shop owner said that the bird had spent a good part of its life in a house of ill repute and although it spoke well, it could say some inappropriate things. The woman asked to see the bird and when the shop owner uncoverd it, it said," swqak, who's the New Madam?" The women laughed and said that's not too bad, I'll take him. After she took the bird home, her daughter returned home and when she came into the room the Her mother said, wait to you see our new Parrot, upon seeing the daughter, the bird said" Sqawk, who's the New girl". The Mother and daughter laughed and couldn't wait to see what her husband would think about the new pet. When her husband came into the room the bird said New Madam, new Girl, Hello Jack!!

Jon, I'm disappointed in you. Only 5 spins? :cuss: I don't think you should move up to slicks, as it is alot harder to spin, and you'll just not have as much fun, with lower times. Tom

What effect does the altitude have on your power? 70 eh? How did you guys fit the flyrods and golf clubs in those cars? Tom

Sorry it took so long to get a picture up. First the old one. After the first cone strike, I did a nice job of patching and standing, had it painted and then hit another cone and ripped it off again. Thats why it looks as bad as it does. Weighs a ton too. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/584432214_old fender.JPG New ones http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1607729213_new fenders.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1538477205_new fender side.JPG

Total weight for engine and Caterham 6 speed is about 270 lbs. It's pretty too! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/956381293_hp_scanDS_710410582938.jpghttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/956420069_gearbox and engine.jpg

Jon if you aren't the most hardcore sevener out there then the other guy is flat out NUTS! :flag: I suspect you will be out playing in the snow with the seven doing donuts until the gas runs out. (I use to do that with my Spitfire, as it was the only time I could get the back end to come around unless I pulled up the handbrake. :yesnod: ) Stay safe! Tom

Have to clean them up if you want a picture. It was not quite dry on the backroads thru the State Park. There is nothing special about them, just new Caterham wings with new Carbonfiber stoneguards and I had them Armourfended halfway to prevent excessive stone chipping. Tom

As autox season is over, I took the slicks off, took off the ratty rear wings, put the new ones with the rear lights back on and put the street tires on and I made an appointment to get it inspected. The sun came out around noon, the temp got up to the mid sixties, and the roads started to dry up a bit. Started out on a trip to get it inspected. Wet leaves really are not fun :willy: however they do test your reflexes and keep the heart rate up. Lots of thumbs up, nice car mister, and general nods of appreciation. God I love driving this car. Hopefully we'll get a few more days in before its tucked in for its long winter nap. Hopefully all of you here in the east got out today. Tom

I never ordered the weather gear for my Caterham as I knew I'd never be able to get in with the top up. However, Boxologist has a top with a neat feature that allows one to enter the car. It has a zippered or velcroed piece that opens up to allow one to get in and then reseal while sitting in the car. I'm sure he'll post a picture if you ask. Tom

Ahhhh, they were stolen... Yeah, that's it they were stolen officer. I can tell you how to make an inexpensive set. But based on the info I just dug up, I think you're out of the woods on the bumper issue. That's why I put the details of the code in the post for you. So you could have it handy when you take it in. I haven't seen any reference to that in the regs. If you drive less than 5000 miles a year, I believe you can be exempted from the emission test. Tom

Did some more checking. Seems windhield minimum is 7 inches if orginally specified by a recognizied manufacturer...??? (b) Requirements. Glazing shall meet following requirements: (1) A windshield may not be less than 7 inches in vertical height on a street rod and 12 inches vertical height on reconstructed vehicles and specially constructed vehicles. If the original body configuration provided by a recognized manufacturer had a windshield of less than 12 inches, reconstructed vehicles and specially constructed vehicles may use the original windshield size, except that this size may not be less than 7 inches. the Bumper exemption seems to hold. Tom

Roman. It's been 7 years since I went thru the process and there have been some new regs. I believe that reverse lights are not specified unless you have them then they must work. As for Windshileds, ... the following is from the Pa specialty vehicle inspection code. (2) Check the windshield and reject if one or more of the following apply: (i) A windshield is less than 7 inches in vertical height on a street rod. (ii) A windshield is less than 12 inches in vertical height, or the vertical height is less than what was originally designed, on a reconstructed or specially constructed vehicle. (iii) The windshields and side windows or openings do not allow the driver minimum outward horizontal vision capability of 90° from each side of vertical plane passing through fore and aft centerline of vehicle. The specialty vehicle inspection says that you need front and rear bumpers, but I found this reg... 1992 Amendment. Act 174 amended subsec. ©. § 4536. Bumpers. No person shall operate any vehicle upon a highway without bumpers of a type specified by regulations of the department in both the front and rear unless the vehicle was originally designed and manufactured to be used without bumpers. This section shall not apply to any special mobile equipment, commercial implement of husbandry or implement of husbandry that is not so equipped by the original manufacturer. The driver of a commercial implement of husbandry equipped with vehicular hazard signal lamps shall use the signals when the vehicle is traveling below the speed limit on any highway if the vehicle is not equipped with a rear bumper. (June 23, 1982, P.L.605, No.171, eff. imd.; Dec. 18, 1992, P.L.1411, No.174, eff. 60 days; May 20, 1993, P.L.30, No.10, eff. 60 days) Don't know what water that will hold with the inspection site though. Hopefully, your title gets thru without the specialty inspection site requirement. Oh, and inspection does require at least one rear view mirror. I'll keep researching too. Tom

Sorry Mazda, those number I gave were seconds, as in times. As for speed??? my speedo gave up the ghost long ago, and there's no way I could look down anyway. That's where I guess I need to invest in a data logger. The Slaloms on the return side were flat out in 2nd gear, I'd guess close to 60++ mph. Sure felt like it. and I did shift to third for the finish once, so that could be close to 70 mph. You would love Warminster, I just depends on the course set up. Sometimes the Vette guys design it and sometimes the Elise guys or Fmod guys do. Each likes to play to their strength, so it either becomes a power course or a transition course. Lucky for us, we have the power and handling to do either. And the bonus is they can never make it tight enough to pinch us, like the bigger cars. Tom -

Us Caterham types use http;//www.blatchat.com its the Lotus7club of Great Britian's site. Tech talk is great for xflows, Kseries, Vauxhalls, Zetecs' and Duratecs, as well as any other suspension, brake, electrical, suspension questions. However you now need to be a member to post. There are enough of us on here that are members who could post for you. Tom

Roman, looks like you got it registered and inspected. Any trouble getting thru without a windshield or bumpers? Tom

Here's a video of my 3 & 4 runs side by side. It's interesting to see where I lost time or made up time by pausing the video at differnt gates. Tom -

If you think a little rain is tough, come out to the Philly Region Winter Autox Series. The first picure is Ice and snow. Second is 10 inches of snow. Really. Not seven friendly. Jon, if you have a rear antirollbar, where is it set? If it's at the full forward postition you could soften it a bit by moving it to the rearward holes. Also what size front antiroll bar are you running? (What color bushing)? Tom
