  1. He just posted an apology on Blatchat. http://http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?Id=142979 this is the whole blatchat community response. (15 pages long :ack: ) http://http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?Id=143132 This is Ansar's response.
  2. Be careful what you wish for. My Rover K series C/R is 12:4:1 and Sunoco 100 octane GT race fuel cost over $8.00 a gallon. :cuss: :ack: Tom
  3. That's actually Ansar Ali, the Managing Director of Caterham Cars. I can't take credit for it. There's a raging discussion going on in BlatChat over the comments he made in the November Caterham Life email.
  4. How this for a compromise? The New GT 7 :d http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1625574243_caterham_gt3.jpg
  5. I had one just like that only in black for my first car a 68 spitfire. For the Spit it was appropriate, due to the low hp. For the seven not so much. Have some pride man! :d Tom
  6. :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:   :seeya: have a great trip. See you in the spring. Tom
  7. When autoxing, I have 10 inch slicks at all 4 corners. I can still break them loose at the start, so no I can't say that they bog mine down. For the street, I have the 205-55-13 Avon CR500's on the rear and the 175-55-13 on the front. Driving on the slicks is sooo much more fun. Tom
  8. Kitcat you are right on. Yeah I like the Noble, but the seven has satisfied my need for speed and handling. The Porsche would be a 10 month a year car. How does $41K sound for a sale price? The replacement that he's looking at has a sticker of $112K. (A 4S coupe) He just took the car back (and he did notice that I put almost 100 miles on it):cuss: It's not a done deal yet as he still is waffling between a Cab or a coupe. Yeah, the silver and black is bland. (I would prefer Speed Yellow myself) :d And I agree with you about the Cayman, I think it looks better than the 911. It's just a good price for an almost new car. What could I get for $40K new?
  9. Jon, I don't know for sure but the car in picture in the first post with the F1 type nose, could probably run in A Mod. As for the black one in the next set of pics, I'd be more concerned that it would over heat. Doesn't look like it has sufficient air inlets. And you're right, I don't think it would qualify for D/E mod. Maybe B mod.
  10. Thanks guys. My other option is another kit car. I believe, Red Baron has on of these. Although my wife has said I can't build another car.:ack: Here's a couple of pics. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1337178416_SCF_XJ13_7.jpg and the Porker http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1836884388_PB300242.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/369416871_PB300244.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/329530894_PB300243.JPG
  11. Jon, don't go using 4 letter words like that around me. :cuss: I stopped that nonsense years ago. Tom
  12. Don't worry Al, the Seven still has the place of honor in the garage. I plan on buying a lift to put the seven in the air and the porker under it. It will just have a higher place of honor.
  13. Al, my seven is more powerful than I can handle, so no need need for me to chase bigger and more powerful motor variants. After 7 years in it, I'm still learning how to drive. PK yeah, the Porsche was a whole lot more civilized and certainly would get more exercise than the 7. Now can I get a set of golf clubs in?
  14. A friend of mine is close to buying a new 997. His trade in is a pristine 2002 996 with 4400 miles on it. It's in my garage right now. It still smells new. Its got over $20K in options on it and is spotless. I think he's nuts to buy a new one. I wouldn't normally even look at a Porker, but this car is like NEW. I just put about 100 miles on it, (boy is he gonna be pissed ) He's made me a pretty reasonable offer to buy. It's not as quick, and has alot more body roll than the Caterham, and the gear lever has alot longer throw than the 7. But it is impossible to buy a car this nice for this amount of money. All Right, talk me into or out of it. Discuss. :willy: :willy: :willy: Tom
  15. It's a Rover K Series, not a Ford :ack: :d It's a great engine, very light, revvy and sounds fabulous. Unfortunately, due to the exchange rate, its really pricey now. See http://www.minister-power.com/support/index.htm Go to Engines, then MG/Rover engines, then mine is the 205. The 240 hp one is a real beast!!! Add in the Dry sump, Flywheel, clutch, water rail, exhaust, starter, air filter, and dyno run and then multiply by $2.00++ and then add in shipping, customs duty, and state sales tax.  Exchange rate was only $1.47 when I bought it. Look at the 240 hp version if you really want to cry. Tom Oh, and that doesn't include the cost of the Caterham 6 speed!!!! When ever someone asks me what it costs to build a 7, I say, it depends on how stupid you are :d Pretty, stupid eh?
  16. Jon, it comes down to DM/EM is where they want us. The cars are just too dominant to allow them in any other class. Tom

    Bad Bird

Curiously enough that parrot had a brother who was for sale in a pawn shop. One day a woman walking by saw a sign that said Parrot for sale cheap! and went into the shop to inquire about it. The pawn shop owner said that the bird had spent a good part of its life in a house of ill repute and although it spoke well, it could say some inappropriate things. The woman asked to see the bird and when the shop owner uncoverd it, it said," swqak, who's the New Madam?" The women laughed and said that's not too bad, I'll take him. After she took the bird home, her daughter returned home and when she came into the room the Her mother said, wait to you see our new Parrot, upon seeing the daughter, the bird said" Sqawk, who's the New girl". The Mother and daughter laughed and couldn't wait to see what her husband would think about the new pet. When her husband came into the room the bird said New Madam, new Girl, Hello Jack!!
  18. Jon, I'm disappointed in you. Only 5 spins? :cuss: I don't think you should move up to slicks, as it is alot harder to spin, and you'll just not have as much fun, with lower times. Tom
  19. What effect does the altitude have on your power? 70 eh? How did you guys fit the flyrods and golf clubs in those cars? Tom
  20. Sorry it took so long to get a picture up. First the old one. After the first cone strike, I did a nice job of patching and standing, had it painted and then hit another cone and ripped it off again. Thats why it looks as bad as it does. Weighs a ton too. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/584432214_old fender.JPG New ones http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1607729213_new fenders.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1538477205_new fender side.JPG
  21. Total weight for engine and Caterham 6 speed is about 270 lbs. It's pretty too! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/956381293_hp_scanDS_710410582938.jpghttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/956420069_gearbox and engine.jpg
  22. Save over 100 lbs. get a Rover K Series Tom
  23. Jon if you aren't the most hardcore sevener out there then the other guy is flat out NUTS! :flag: I suspect you will be out playing in the snow with the seven doing donuts until the gas runs out. (I use to do that with my Spitfire, as it was the only time I could get the back end to come around unless I pulled up the handbrake. :yesnod: ) Stay safe! Tom
  24. Have to clean them up if you want a picture. It was not quite dry on the backroads thru the State Park. There is nothing special about them, just new Caterham wings with new Carbonfiber stoneguards and I had them Armourfended halfway to prevent excessive stone chipping. Tom
  25. As autox season is over, I took the slicks off, took off the ratty rear wings, put the new ones with the rear lights back on and put the street tires on and I made an appointment to get it inspected. The sun came out around noon, the temp got up to the mid sixties, and the roads started to dry up a bit. Started out on a trip to get it inspected. Wet leaves really are not fun :willy: however they do test your reflexes and keep the heart rate up. Lots of thumbs up, nice car mister, and general nods of appreciation. God I love driving this car. Hopefully we'll get a few more days in before its tucked in for its long winter nap. Hopefully all of you here in the east got out today. Tom
