Can you say CHACHINGGGGGGGG!!!! or should I say CHA KARL:jester:
-
Great News Al! Hopefully we'll get to see it in person this summer. (let's talk about the possibility of expanding the trackday outing to include some touring, etc, for those like Taber and you, who enjoys the camaradarie but doesn't want to track their cars) Tom
-
GetR Done!!! That's what this weather is for. Get the parts ordered and Schedule the work. No sense letting that hotrod siit idle during the nice warm months. Hope to see you soon. Tom
-
I think wheels for Caterham's are 4 x 108. Tom
-
Hey Box, I hope your craving new wheels and slicks means you are considering joining us this year for our annual 7s at NJMP gathering. Plus I think Mike and I have agreed to sponsor you for a pre 7s gathering track day to give you an opportunity to learn the track with Instruction and at a learning pace. Hope you can find the time to join us. Tom

I suggest you try to sit in and or drive as many as you can before you decide. The size, driving position, pedal box, steering wheel position. etc. vary and what fits one person may not feel right to another. As for the best performer. It is definately driver dependant. While you can cram an LS V8 in some, if you are not a good driver, Someone like Kitcat will come along in a little 90hp crossflow and you'll be down a lap before you know it. Enjoy the chase, and pick one that you feel good in. They are all pretty capable. Tom

Very Nice, Karl. What size are the wheels?
-
Karl, that will be a given. He's full of hot air. :smilielol5::smilielol5: Tom

Thanks Karl, and Mike, that's what friends are for. I'm going to concentrate on my (lack of) Driving Skills, this year. I'll bow out of your ever escalating horsepower and carbon war. :jester: I still have plenty of HP for my driving skill level. It's just on the straights where I can't hang with you big dogs. Tom
-
Michael, between the barndoor aerodynamics and the clamshells, I don't really think the extra couple of inches in tire width is the major reason I'm slow on the straights. It's most likely because I'm a big chicken and am afraid to put my right foot down hard. :leaving: Tom

Hoosier bias ply road race slicks. 22.5 x 10 x 13 R25B compound mounted on 13 x 10 inch Kodiak rims. I had used those rims with a slightly smaller circumference hoosier of the same specs when I autoxed. These new ones have a 71 inch circumference vs the 64 inch circumference of the prior sets I ran. This should give me gearing a little closer to what the original Avon CR500's were and therefore hopefully give me a little more speed per RPM. I caculate that it is between 4mph to 11mph more revs in each gear. However the sidewall/profile is noticably taller than the previous set, so hopefully it doesn't affect the handling negatively. Tom

Done! They are stacked in the storage room. (Martin, there is a Storage room down there and no, my garage is not airconditioned or heated) It's freezing out there right now. Ahhh, I love the smell of fresh rubber in the morning! Cue the "Ride of the Valkyries"!!!
-
Stepped outside to get the mail this morning and Look what I found on my doorstep. :hurray: Now I have to hide them from my wife before she gets home.
-
Kitcat is your guy. He has one of each in his garage right now. He's the man with the answers! Tom
-
Karl we will have to make sure that we get the pole placement on the stage just right too. Sorry about the thread hijack. Just couldn't resist. Tom
-
EXCELLENT recommendation Karl!!!:iagree::cheers: I can help with the Big Screen theater installation too. The placement of the chairs is the critical determining factor on the set up. :lurk: So when do they break ground? Will it be up and ready for our 3rd annual 7's at NJMP gathering? Tom
-
Well I can't really call it a Blat, but I took the Caterham off the lift today and it started right up. :driving: Drove it to the end of the cul de sac where I promptly loaded into the trailer. A few preseason maintenance items, Cambelt change, New Master Cylinder, DeDion ear change. Less than 3 weeks to the first trackday of the season. Tom

I'm definately a Slacker. :cooldude: I ran with a group called SCDA (sports car drivers assoc) at one of their trackdays at NJMP. Well run, Safety minded and The next year i thru the Idea up on this board and Croc, Blubarisa,Kitcat, MichaelD. Sabbot, Scott L, Dermot, S1steve, and Jbvette showed up As well as Dave, another S1 owner and our pres. Al Navarro made an apperance. Last year was the second annual a couple more additions, With Steve (bball) driving in from St.Louis, and Kitcat from Cincy, and poor Jim, who never had done any track or perfomance driving drove in from State College Pa. (I think Jim was overwhelmed by the experience to say the least. Croc, Blubarisax, JBH and I have since become members at the track and have done a few other days where we have brought a few "guests" on track with us. We run in the same run group and have a heck of alot of fun, playing with the corvettes, Porkers, and other trackday usuals. Croc will have the dates availble in the very near future. Like I said the ontrack activity is alot of fun, but the comraderie in the paddock, and at dinner is just a HOOT! We have kicked around the idea of expanding the activities to include non driving options for those who would like to join in on the fun but don't want to put their cars on track. (Taber, Box, :jester:) There are alot of nice roads, Atlantic City is only 40 miles away as are the other Beaches, there are also quite a few local wineries, museams etc, that would provide opportuinities for those not into trackdays. However, that will require another person to step up and coordinate. AL, Mazda??? If your schedule permits and your butt can take the drive, I can promise you will enjoy yourself. Were Offenhauser valve covers standard? and what a bout the chrome altenator? I'm not a corvette guy, but they seem odd to me on a stock untouched car. Am I mistaken? Tom
-
The two tracks at NJMP are alot of fun, but no where as much fun as the comraderie at dinner. Croc might even Ride the bronco again!!!:jester: The more the merrier. Our goal this year is 15 Sevens. Heck we may even talk Boxologist into joining in. That alone would be worth the trip up. :jester: Karl will probably have about 1000 HP in his Caterham by then too. Tom
-
Don't write that date in stone yet. I think Croc is trying to work out a deal that may give us other options. Right CROC? Tom
-
And a Wing!!!:smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5: Tom
-
Karl, you have more that enough car to run with Croc, you just aren't as crazy as he is. :jester: If you're trying to stay with Kitcat and Croc, you just need to rewire your brain so that you have no fear. Just look at their faces after a session, they are possessed. Tom
-
Blubarisax, (Karl) has a Sadev in his SV, but he made the switch to the paddle shift option this year.:drool: I'm sure he'll be along shortly to fill you in on the install and programning of each. Tom
-
Yeah, it seems to be the place to go for the New Jersey crowd. (Senator Mendendez seems to have made quite a few trips there to sample the local talent) :lurk: FBI is now investigating. Croc be careful the Fed are involved. :jester: Tom
