Out for a bitter cold ride in the S4 Seven.....and i forgot to wear gloves!!!!

those are smiles on our faces though...

Ted,

You guys are truly seperating the men from the boys, but if that's you in the red toboggan, that's not a smile. That's an 'I'm freezing my a$$ off and I want my gloves now' look. :jester:

Ted,

Maybe you were cold, but that's a great looking Series IV. If you want to bring it down to Florida and drive it in the relative warmth, I can clear out a garage space for you!

Took my SV out for a car club event yesterday--the wife looked like we were in the frozen north, but really wasn't too bad here--got into the '60s during the afternoon.

This is one of the reasons I installed a 28000 btu heater with adj dash vents.

I was out the other day and though only -4 it was cold enough, I also forgot my gloves. I aimed the vent at the steering wheel and cranked the heater on high and I was surprised at much hot air I got on the steering wheel.

One of my better ideas

Call me a wuss but I have been juggling to fit a Vintage Air Gen ll heat/actually unit into our Caterham.

This thread validates my thought process about the heat part but the reality is we drive in more warm weather than cool.

Not sure if I can squeeze it all in but that is the plan. I think the condenser and associated fan may be the biggest challenge, especially since some have enough cooling issues already.

I'm currently in the middle cleaning up my wiring harness so that I can get everything to fit under the scuttle. I'm thinking pretty seriously about adding one of these Gerbing controllers while I'm at it. A couple of jacks in the dash would let you plug in a heated vest, or even a pair of gloves. Might be just the thing for those chilly fall blats.

Reading about your "trip home" from purchasing the S4 was both the "high point" and "low point" of my day yesterday! Thanks for posting such an interesting story. I say low point because I was disappointed for you since the trip was so challenging and so uncomfortable.

On to the car: I am only one of 36 people watching the car, so I am pretty sure it will sell soon. But, I am totally confused by a "Steel Brothers" car made "under license" from Lotus. I hate to say this on this forum, but does that mean, "It isn't a real Lotus?" I think Caterham also produced a few S4s, and perhaps they are rarer than actual cars made by Lotus, but I doubt that they would bring as good a price.

Really a great looking car, and at a good price--at least for a Lotus S4.

I just posted my Seven S4 on Ebay for sale, but have no permission to post under "Cars for Sale" section of USA7s.

Ted - Only paid up members can create a post in that sub-forum. What you can do is add a post on the end of the Cars for sale in Ebay/Craigslist thread that already exists there in the Cars for Sale section.

Thanks Mike for the explanation. You could have just as easily said "pay up you cheap B!@#$%^" :)

Taber, Thanks for your kind comments too. I know the (Lotus / Steel Bro / Caterham) issue has been tossed around Lotus forums for years. My understanding is Lotus was pulling out of that market (doing away with the Seven entirely) and both sold on and licensed both Caterham and Steel Bro with the remaining kits/inventory and they built them under license. More importantly, every aspect of those cars are identical to what Lotus produced, exception being the vin/body plate as per government regulation of course. So arguably they are Lotus cars through and through, tip to toe. It is what it is... Picture of VIN plate says it all "Lotus - Steel Bro" so that says it's a Lotus to me.
