Recommended Posts

Ever wonder why it is that none of us fat a$$, over weight Storker owners NEVER join in on these minimal subjects? We're big, okay?...There, you happy now? Bunch'a frick'n light weights. :jester:

It's those extra pistons that weigh you down. Yeah, I know you'll say "Eat my dust!"

Why, I do believe that is the highest compliment one could ever hope to offer or receive in a Sevens forum. Thank you, sir! :)

Caterham S3 w/ 2.3 Duratec - 1186 with about seven gallons of fuel.

My 93 Caterham HPC with the 2 liter engine weighed 1480 with me and a full tank of gas on the scale at the local scrap metal place. Subtract me and the gas gets 1250 lbs. No spare tire or top or windows.

Yeah, and all the wings and rubber to try and get that power those extra pistons are making to the ground!!!! Would love to see you use that power without them, like most of the rest of us. :willy_nilly:

2014 Westfield SEiW with stock 1.8 liter Mazda drivetrain (except shortened driveshaft), 5 gal gas and spare tire, 1380 lbm. That was certified weight that I got during the registration and title process.

My car has been telling me lies!!! It plainly states on the rear panel that it's "Ultralite" but when I had it corner weighted it weighed in at 1,505Lbs!! Probably should say "Notthatlite" but even so I still love her, same for the wife, LOL.

Jim,

Just don't show your wife this note!

Reminds me of an older fellow on Antiques Roadshow last week. He told the appraiser that he had brought to the the show the only antique he had in the house -- "except my wife, of course.."

I don't know what my Orange Sumo Version weighs. But with all the carbon that the prior owner put on it, it might be a negative number. :smilielol5:

Several years back I calculated that the Space Shuttle would weigh 6 lb less if the tires were filled with Helium instead of Nitrogen. Of course it would all leak out by the time it needed to land. :) But if you did that to a race car.....

Sorry to hear that Porky...oops...I mean Portly....sorry...Jim. Your car is so overweight that it is reaching Stalkeresque proportions. :willy_nilly: If you let it go much longer soon it will be as obese as a Miata. :ack:

Dr Croc recommends a high fiber diet of carbon, magnesium wheels, lightweight aloooooominum and lots of cash taken out of that fat wallet. :jester:

There is a Brit in San Diego who got his R1 engined Caterham in U.K. below 850 lbs (385 kgs), but had to sell the car when he moved to the U.S. That car was still well under 880 lbs with a half-tank of fuel.

1963 Lotus Seven S2 - Previous Race configuration: Fuel level (cant recall), Chassis strengthening, 116E, dry sump, straight pipe exhaust, roll bar, cortina axle with steg plate, 15lb tractor battery, steel bodied shocks, kirkey seat, magnesium bellhousing and magnesium wheels = 1008 lbs

Current Street configuration: Above + steel bellhousing, + aluminum wheels, + 2lb ballistic battery + aluminum body shocks (8lbs lighter) + titanium muffler + bench seat = TBD (soon!)

In the future, I'm hoping to save more weight with front aluminum hubs and Girling D14R calipers.
