Hello Crew,

I'm looking to ID a Caterham coolant hose, it's from around 2003 and I hope it's still available. The car is an early Duratec installation and uses 2 of these S bends.

Thanks,

Andy

That hose looks just like the bottom hose for my RoverK series Dry sump engine. it is listed on the caterhamUK parts site. I'll go look at my Duratec engined car and see if there are any similar hoses. Be Right Back.

Tom,

This is an early Duratec car so it's possible it used the Rover hoses. The one in the photo is 1.25" ID. Sound familiar?

Too bad there's no dimensions on the Caterham site.

You could call or email the parts department tomorrow. They usually will respond. I have a fair amout of spare parts in my garage for both cars. I just can't remember if I have any RoverK hoses. Can't check right now, but I will rummage thru the garage tomorrow to see if I have that hose or any hose for my K series.

Check back tomorrow. Tom

When I had to replace my rotted hoses, I went to the auto parts store and they let me go through their collection of hoses until I found ones that matched. You might get lucky and find one the right shape and size locally.

I'm going to try that too, I've narrowed it down to 20 or so hoses by photo. The parts store is going to kill me!

I did that as well. If anybody needs Zetec part #'s I can help with that.

I found a local silicone hose supplier here in LA and used that along with some aluminum bends I found online. I did have to buy a flaring tool for the aluminum tube but the combination gives you a lot of flexibility in fitment. I think I got the bends from Summit or Speedway. Pegasus has the silicone hose but I got it cheaper locally.

You might want to get in touch with Redline Components in the UK. They don’t have much of a web presence but they are very responsive to emails or phone calls.

Yep I was looking to use those pretty blue silicon ones in my Zetec 2.0

These guys seem to have very competitive prices but I never got around to measuring bends, kinks etc so any help?

I also have the small bend somewhere that I had to cut but that should be an easy match.

I think these might be the pictures that match by googling them online

I needed to replace a hose on my BB512 this summer that was difficult to source. I ended up going to my local Advance Auto Parts store where they allowed me to go in back and search through their inventory of radiator hoses until I found one with a section matching what I needed. After a few quick cuts, it fit perfectly. They had hundreds of different hoses in all shapes and sizes hanging by wire hooks off a rack so it was easy to find one with the section I needed. Your application looks very straightforward with two opposing 90-degree bends. Give it a shot, I'm sure you'll find something that works.

Spent some quality time at the parts store and found some hoses that will work, but I've decided to use aluminum tube for some of the longer straight sections.

papak, what kind of beading tool did you purchase? I'm considering the Earl's one for 1.25" tube:

I'm curious to know what you chose. Some of the small beading machines look good in the photos, but I'm not sure of their quality when in use. If they are decent quality they may be worth the $ in the long run as I can use them to bead tube on other projects.

Wow, thanks for the info in this thread! I think it will come in handy when I try to redo mine. (Zetec not Duratec, but probably in need of refreshing as long as my car is out of commission...)
