I'm planning to come as a guest.

Is this event family friendly?  I've got 2,5, and 7 year olds.  Cost for guests?

Thats great - you are welcome to join us and chat sevens.  You may have to keep an eye on your kids as it is an active pits and there are cars and e-bikes running around.

For cost you have two options:

1) Sign up as a non-driving guest and its $50 per day - you can do that on the day.  That includes the full breakfast, full lunch, and unlimited refreshments (non-alcoholic).  But given the kids option 2 may be better..

2) Have breakfast in advance.  Turn up and enjoy the fun in the pits and on the various look out points.  You can buy lunch at the clubhouse on the Sunday.  Allows a more flexible schedule.  I have a truckload of waters and sodas in the fridge at my garage at Turn 9/10 on Thunderbolt.  The General Store will sell snacks and drinks (including beer!).

Definitely hearing protection is a must.  We normally base in the big event garage in the center of the pits and when some of the un-silenced Corvette race cars or the Formula Hair Dryers go out it gets really noisy.

Awesome!   I'd love to bring my car but I don't trust it enough yet for the track or a 3 hour drive.  It still needs to go through a full disassemble/reassemble.

Kevin signed up with his Haynes Locost build for the Sunday - he would be a good person for you to chat with given you have a Haynes.

@spindrI went to the track on Friday and asked both the operations manager and the CEO about the one car two driver possibility.  Unfortunately they both suggested that if the two of you wanted to drive you could alternate between the seven’s run group and the green/ white run group depending on skill level. But both of you would have to register. Sorry.  I took a good run at it and tried to play a few different tact’s but I can up short.   Hopefully, you can still make it Jeremy.

Many thanks for your efforts Tom. We may consider bringing my 7 and a second non 7 car so we can both take full number of runs, perhaps switching cars. We are both intermediate drivers with a few years of track experience. Should this work?

Four weeks to go until our Sevens Gathering at NJMP.   Looking forward to seeing everyone.  Hopefully Croc will be allowed back into the country in time.  Hopefully Simon can keep his current engine intact until then. Hopefully Roman can get his car out of storage,  Hopefully Steve is hard at work polishing his car to its usual mirror gloss.  And Hopefully all coming have a safe uneventful drive to the track.

Make sure your belts are in date, and your Helmet too, although I think they still have some rentals available.

See you all soon

Tom

@spindr Yes the green group is a paced lap behind a pace car with no passing.  The
White/Blue group is an intermediate group with passing only on the straights with a point by.

See you in a few weeks.  Tom

Tom

I am having trouble navigating the USA7s site. I can not find the instructions/link to register for the NJMP event. Can you tell me where to go?

Registration

Online registration for drivers and their guests is via MotorsportReg.

Step 1 is to register as a user. Step 2 is to register and pay for the event using the links provided below. NJMP’s cancellation policy is outlined on the registration page. Late registration will incur a late fee. Drivers Club member' have a different HPDE cost to non-members reflecting their club subscriptions paid.

Non-driving visitors are required to be registered by NJMP. If you are a driver bringing a guest, then there is space on the registration site to do this. The fee for non-driving visitors covers all refreshments during the day plus breakfast and lunch.

If you are attending as a non-driver then we recommend you register on the day when you turn up as the registration site is not designed for guest only attendance.

The following links should be used to sign up for each day individually.  NJMP is going to modify the registration page to allow you to sign on as a USA7s member - This should happen next week.  If they do not then by all means sign up as a Non-Member Guest in the white group, identify your car as a seven, and we will will work to move your registration into the right group later.

How late can one register for this? just completed reassembly of my Cat and should finish dialing carbs this week. Some shakedown thereafter on the whole setup and i "MAY" be able to make it... if it's too tight of a schedule, i'll just shoot for next year but i'm feeling optimistic!

Hi Des.  You could technically register in person on the day at the event.  We dont encourage that as NJMP see if we have the numbers for a sevens-only run group two days before.    I'd try for making the event if I were you.  You would not be the first person troubleshooting problems at this event (cough cough....Vlad, Steve, Tom, Simon, Stewart....)

Another plus is that there are a few people there with experience and skill to help out.   When Jeff broke a front wheel hub, I had a spare that was back ar my house.  Someone made the trip to pick it up and he got it installed and only lost a session or two as I live about an hour and a half from the track.   So definitely give it a shot if you are able.  Tom

Honestly the experience is worth it even if you have trouble on the track. 7's NJMP days is more the sum of it's parts with track time and lunches in between. The comradery and the experience is worth it even with a broken car (as I prove year after year..).

You learn a lot, meet great people and get all the hands on help on our obscure rare vehicles you can get.

I suggest that if you can make it you do so and that helps ensure that there will be a next year after all. Without knowing the exact details I assume it's a monumental struggle to justify and help make this event year between Mike, Tom and NJMP itself, so having numbers to back it up helps these events keep going year after year. To the best of my knowledge this is the biggest North American gathering of 7's every year and a rare experience to run in 7's only group on this side of the pond.

Also photos don't care if your car runs poorly and you get to have awesome backgrounds to look at for the entire year (Again big thanks to Mike for helping with photography too!)

Picture from the office as I type this. Love to have NJMP shots in rotation through the years.

I'm really looking forward to our 7's event and my Cat's getting ready. The broken bellhousing has been replaced and a broken coil wire has been diagnosed and re-pinned. A new AFR gauge will give me something to occupy my time on the straights. A new lithium battery, fluid changes, a swap to track mode (slicks and aero screen), and a good "Nut and Bolt" should complete the prep.

See you guys soon!

Just a note that with  my Caterham sold, and my track Miata not compliant with NJ track regs, in spite of Croc/Tom’s generous offer to let me participate in the White run group, I will be sitting out this year’s event.

For those on the fence: this is a bucket-list type event. If you have a se7en, it’s worth the effort and inconvenience to attend, even from afar. If you don’t have se7en, see Croc’s for-sale thead:)! It’s never too late!
