Vovchandr
Who wins? Rules are, car must be at least 5 years old. I'm 2001 with ~4k miles but my true miles are unknown due to a cluster having issues at some point in its life so I disqualify myself.

wdb
I lucked into my 1995 Caterham last year. It had 535 miles on it when I took it in. I hereby nominate the 3 former owners.
DavidL
Easy to be at zero if the car has been apart for a few years! I just got back on the road after chasing a clutch problem for a couple of years, culminating in having the engine out for a couple of months.
Taber10
I have to agree with JohnCh--I have now 20477 miles on my 2007 and I kick myself every time I look at it because I have SO FEW miles on it! But each of those miles have been with a smile on my face!

Wayne Stambaugh
My car has to be possibly the lowest mileage Caterham ever built although there may be a car out there still in the crate with no mileage. I’m the second owner and knew the first owner when he purchased the car. It’s an 1986 BDR with DeDion and has 31 original miles on it. I’m working hard so I’ll be able to put so miles on it soon. Like John says “Who wins” this is really a crime!

S1Steve
This is a contest I don’t want to win, 20 thousand miles in 20 years from brand new. I use to drive it in Pennsylvania winters till the roads got salted. But now at 65 I’m a sissy and hate the cold weather..😂 If things go as planned, I’m heading to the Tail Of The Dragon for a decent road trip in the spring… Edited December 3, 2023 by S1Steve 1

That’s a long drive for you. I’m about 5 hours from it and I have been thinking about going up there if my car is ready in the spring. I will probably drive mine there. I have been on the Dragon more times than I can remember on various motorcycles but never a car. Pick an early morning on a weekday!
S1Steve
Good Morning Wayne, this trip would be a trailer journey. Thankfully my Seven is very reliable, so I’m sure it would do ok. But you never know. Problem would be my lower back not putting up with it. My friend and fellow British car nut just purchased a new aluminum open trailer. He’s offered it many times now, so smart money would say use it…. I’ve been thinking about doing the Dragon for years, so I’m going to make a big push to do it…. I’ll keep you informed if your in the position to join me.. Happy Holidays.. Edited December 3, 2023 by S1Steve 1

I’m 68 years old so even being 5 hous away, I may still trailer mine. This is a great section of road to drive but needless to say, it stays really busy. It’s unfortunate but I have seen a lot of accidents both motorcycles and cars during the busy times. The busy times can be somewhat dangerous even though you maybe super careful. Last time I rode it ( on motorcycle) there was an idiot trying to drive a car hauler through there and he beached it in one of the tight turns. You never know what you will see. It’s still worth the trip just keep your eyes wide open both in front of you and behind you. Keep me posted, Happy Holidays!
coffee break
I've run the Dragon twice (Miata NA & 2CV). It's three and a half hours to get there for me. When I take the 7, I plan on trailering since there is no OD ratio in my car. The question I have is, where is a good and safe place to leave a truck and trailer when I'm running the Dragon. theDreamer
coffee break Are you really going to drive 7 hours round trip just to make a few passes on the Dragon? I’d at least book one night in or near Robbinsville. There are several nice motels/resorts there and in the surrounding area. Best time of year for the Dragon is late spring or fall when the kids are in school. Less likely to get behind RV’s and family haulers. If you go in the fall make it before the leaves have turned or after they have fallen. Best days and times, early morning or late afternoon, Tuesday to Thursday. Drive up early and arrive before noon. Unload the seven and leave the truck & trailer in the motel/resort parking lot. Go for a blast across the Cherohala Skyway over to Teleco Plains and back. Stop at one of the overlooks to check out the views at least once. Do the Dragon up to Foothills Parkway or Dragon City (junction #72) and back to the gas station. Walk around like a tourist and answer questions about your se7en. Then take #28 over past Fontana Dam to #143 back into Robbinsville. That’ll take you past check in time at least. You can go back during or after supper for a couple more runs. The next morning have everything ready to go and check out but, leave the rig and take the se7en in any of a dozen directions. Like back over #143 to #28 and follow it until it meets #74. (#128 and #74 are four lane divided at this point) Watch for #28 to exit #74 to the right and take it over to Franklin. This part of #28 is VERY twisty, fun road last time I was on it. Lots of good restaurants in Franklin too. Get to #64 after leaving Franklin and take the short drive to Wayha Road. Another fun twisty bit of tarmac. However, there are more and more houses being built in that area so watch out for the locals. Wayah Road comes out at #74 just north of Topton and the junction #129. Turn and head back to the motel/resort, load up and head on home with a huge smile on your face. If you would like more routes farther south like out of Murphy, Dahlonega or Helen let me know. I love that area.

CBuff
I’m not committing to the year ending yet. My goal is to pass 5000 miles. I’m at 4852 as of today (since early June).
Vovchandr
On the average week I have or two days I can take the car if the weather is good and that's just to commute to work which is 5 miles away. =(
