Another UK / BlatChat member saying Hi!

Purchased an ex-Academy Caterham back in 2007. Sold it last summer and, somehow (against expectations), within 2 weeks I'd purchased an SV Caterham (1.8 k series).

Joined here following on from this post - http://blatchat.com/t.asp?id=239317

Will be trawling the threads for more info on new / second hand purchase of a Caterham (or maybe even a Westie) - and maybe even posting up a few questions. Already been warned that a newbuild might be problematic if I'm based in Boston / MA.

welcome aboard!

Hello everyone,

I am currently working as an office admin at Superformance (and Hillbank, which a dealership owned by the CEO of Superformance) in Irvine, CA. I am basically here to learn as much as I can from you all as we are now distributing Caterham Sevens in the U.S. and to share with you the logistical knowledge I have about our operations.

I wonder if there is any significance in the number of the post?

All kidding aside, it's good to have members that want to see the 7 idea keep growing. :hurray:

Tell them hello from me. We had a great time on the blat. Are you coming over for the Polar Bear Blat in 2015?

Before this whole move to Boston thing cropped up, we had expressed an initial interest in attending PBB. Our enthusiasm dimmed though when we saw that the itinerary included a return journey by boat - my wife just wouldn't be able to handle that (our last two tours involved boats - France last summer and the Se7ens List tour to Northern Ireland. Both times Jayne was very ill on the crossings and vowed "never again". We are going back to France this summer and we are going by Eurotunnel)

If by some miracle I had a 7 in the US I'd love to organise a Se7ens List tour of New England (maybe into Canada). The original 2005 tour was a little before I joined that Caterham / Se7ens List fold - would have loved to have been on that tour (despite the shipping issues)

Wanted to drop in and welcome myself as I am sure I will kill with my questions lol. Semi retired, by trade an Electrical technician for Chevron Chemical. Widowed ( lost wife to breast cancer) three kids (all are off on their own. I am a contradiction to most peoples idea of a car nut (hint is my user name :)). I am legally blind (eye disease called RP), don't drive anymore but own an Austin Healey BJ8, an Austin Healey Bugeye, and now a WCM Ultralight LM. I see the wheels turning... What is an LM? A very swoopy body that is built on the Ultralight SR2 chassis. Beneath the skin is the same chassis and components . Will post pics within the next week. tada

Blindcars,

Welcome to the forum. :seeya: As for the WCM Ultralight LM, I think that was the only one Brian Anderson ever produced. If it's the one I'm thinking of (please correct me if I'm wrong), I remember seeing it setting in his shop a handful of times along with a V8-powered Lotus 11 replica he was developing at the time.

Hello all,

I’m new to the forum. Part of my introduction is a call for help, I’m at such a loss but 1st. from this side of the rock my name is Skip. Residents, Long Beach, CA. I’m a sculptor/fabricator. From one off part fabrication/restorations such as a client’s missing fender, I’ll reproduce an exact duplicate by hand. Small castings utilizing lost wax/sand in Bronze, Aluminum and steel. When opportunity is slow I’m on the road in the position of Sr. Project Manager on capital projects.

I've had the Super Stalker itch for several years and now feel it’s time to scratch. I’m very close to pulling the trigger on a 2005 3.8 Super Charged with 6,867 total miles. Power Plant per Car Fax-Year 2004 Grand Prix @ 4938 miles during time of build.

Now my call for help Please. My concern is of registering in the state of California. I've seen several run around my area but d*** it man such an elusive animal to catch. Owners apparently know where the gas pedal lives. So, not having the opportunity 1st. hand to capture answers to my questions from Ca owners I threw an email to BruntonAuto, Mr. Scott Brunton inquiring on said and have not been responded to as yet.

Next pursuit for info was to visit a few local speed shops x 4 and all are stating that any vehicle purchased in or outside the state with 7500 miles or less must be registered as a new vehicle and meet California Smog reg’s. I stated OK, what would one have to do? Response, probably have to run cats, change the wind shield, run wiper’s etc, etc.

Could/can/would any within this forum having registered in CA possibly shed some light.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,
