jz2
Hey Mark, the lotus is sharing some space at my BMW guru's garage. He does quality restorations and really knows how to keep airheads running. None of the bikes in the background of the picture are mine, but I do have an R60/2and an R75/5 he's restoring and an R80ST that he keeps in good shape. Had an R80G/S that wasn't being ridden enough and that sale partial funded the lotus.
panamericano
Jim, Sweet. In my younger days I had an R75/5 (toaster) as my daily transport. Before I got the Seven, I thought about an airhead. But, being older, I went with the Birkin. You've got the best of both worlds. Congrats, Mark
bbursey
Hi folks - I’m a hopeful future 7 owner, here to read and learn. Home is Canada, but I’ve been working a series of back-to-back assignments overseas. I sold a couple of cars (‘68 Spitfire and ‘11 135) when I realized I wouldn’t be using them, so I’m hoping to be ready to buy / order a 7 when this current job ends. Looking forward to learning about ownership options in North America. Cheers, Bryan

Cheers, Bryan Bryan, Croc, aka Mike generally publishes a listing of 7's for sale every Sunday morning in the Cars For Sale forum of this site when he is in the USA and not travelling. This list will be especially useful for you as he lists Canadian cars for sale that have already faced the rigors of importation to Canada. Many of us who own 7 type cars make it a ritual to see what is available nationally/internationally on a weekly basis. It is a fun endeavor and Croc's work is greatly appreciated by a large following that looks forward to his posts. briff
Hi My name is Charlie and I thought that I was going to be the latest 7 owner due to finally going in and bidding on a Birkin on eBay. Despite winning, and sending payment, the owner suddenly ‘found’ a problem with the car and instead of offering to repair it, he just said he would return the money. Then the money delivery also mysteriously went from ‘delivered’ to ‘addressee unknown’. Thankfully I do have my money back, but in short I am frustratingly still not a 7 owner. Hopefully this changes soon and I can legitimately join these ranks (but finding the right vehicle at the right price as you all know isn’t an easy task!). Until then... bbursey
Thanks Bob. I’ve been a frequent reader of Croc’s weekly listing, just to get a sense for what’s out there and how often something that matches my current wishlist pops up. I need to spend more time around the cars to make sure I know what I want - I’ve not so much as sat in one at this point! Looking forward to the journey! I think you should document this in the questions section of the BaT ad for the car. I'm guessing the seller had a better offer or thought he could have got more for his car in another venue. Croc
Skip - It was Ebay and not BringaTrailer, otherwise your idea was a good one.
scannon
Skip - It was Ebay and not BringaTrailer, otherwise your idea was a good one. Then a negative rating for the seller is in order.
briff
Then a negative rating for the seller is in order. The guy had excellent rating so I didn't anticipate having these issues, yet he claimed a sudden electrical problem which possibly is true, but refused to acknowledge my offer to fix it and continue the sale, so I certainly suspect he sold it elsewhere. And yes, a negative rating was posted. But enough of my woes, not the best intro I'm afraid, so who knows of a Seven at a good price..?
Croc
Do you have a link to the original ad? Curious to see if it is the seller I think it is. This is the best list I know of to choose from: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?9372-Ebay-and-Craigslist-ads-Lots-of-Sevens-for-sale/page189
Slonie
Hello, I am Adam Chovanak from Seattle. I've had a cross section of unusual vehicles starting as a teen with an NSU Sport Prinz / Fiats / Mazda Rotary - but really wanted a Europa. Was able to buy a 1974 Elite at 19 and appreciated the Seven but the open-air itch was scratched with motorcycles. Over the past couple years I've been able to sell a couple Sevens at my shop http://SODO-Moto.com - Birkin (BDR & Kent) / Caterham / others - and really enjoying the Sevens. I had joined http://lotus7.club/ and enjoy their newsletter but heard about this forum on BaT. Look forward to learning more and will probably have a few Sevens posted for sale... I knew SODO Moto sounded familiar, you sold that yellow Saurus Jr on Bring a Trailer! I wanted it so bad*, but I had just bought a Seven few weeks earlier... *despite not needing a track-only car in any way, shape, or form... I still wanted it :auto:
Johnnyb2016
Hi everyone, Just joined a few nights ago. New to the forum, but not new to the Seven. I’m originally from Scotland, but now live in Magnolia,Texas! Spent 20 years in the motor trade, covering parts service and body shop. In 2011 I completed a build of a Westfield SEIW, powered by a 240hp 2.0L Ford Duratec engine. I ended up selling it not long after completing it due to a house purchase. After trying a few other cars, I purchased a 2010 Caterham Superlight 150 in burnt orange. I sold that car before moving over here to the USA. I’m now in the planning to own another seven, hopefully self built. I have to say that the response I have had from a couple of the dealers here in the US has been disappointing. JohnCh
Welcome and sorry to hear the dealers haven't met your expectations. Not sure what brand you're looking for, but if you are considering a Westfield, contact the US distributor directly. Tom is a good guy and very helpful. if you are looking for a Caterham, Bruce Beachman of Beachman Racing has a very good reputation on the forum, and as per this recent thread, the guys at Rocky Mountain Caterham are back in business. A lot of people on the forum have had very good experiences with them when buying their cars. I've also had positive experiences sourcing parts from them, even though I have a Westfield. Over the years some Caterham dealers have been a little uppity with me regarding Westfield ownership, so they score extra points in my book. If you are looking for something else, it might be worth posting the desired brand(s) to get other recommendations. -John

Kitcat
Great looking cars! Love the evil black se7en (a Westfield?). Don't overlook Birkin Direct USA when searching. Not only is the owner, Tom Carlin, an active member on the forum, he sells a great version of the 7. And the Stalker is the USA version of "adding lightness" (to a hulking V8). I am not sure how much blame the USA dealers of Caterhams deserve. My impression is Caterham UK considers them to be the proverbial red-headed step-child. So they get little support (just my connecting the dots after 12 years of ownership, no specific knowledge).
