I have to wonder how long it took to build if it’s a 2001 kit but only has 500 miles on it. Still it’s the IRS version with a Dunnel Z-Tech which the seller claims is making 215hp.

Internet is picky and likes to remind super models that their elbows are too pointy for their liking.

Things like blurry photos and dirty carpets even though minimal issues, tend to get blown out of proportion to paint an owner as somebody who doesn't pay enough attention to details. Whether fair or not.

Yeah, that car just needs a good detail. Also looks like it was driven in salty conditions, but it looks like superficial corrosion that could be cleaned up pretty easily. I would imagine that Caterham could supply a replacement for the damaged chassis ID plate.

I don't mind seeing a car in it's natural state, it's like seeing the aforementioned super model without makeup. (On the other hand, it's nice to know she at least made the effort to wash her hair and brush her teeth!)

oh FFS - most of you would fuck a supermodel without make up in the dark. Hello Gwyneth Paltrow - I know you would if given half a chance even if you deny it. It’s not as if it is marginal like the difference between a keg or a case. And I am sure most males on this forum have woken up and thought ‘let me chew my arm off so as not to wake this heifer’ in their younger years but none of you have the stones to candidly admit it other than me or @slowdude

This car is a great opportunity at the right price. Buy at right price and spend a few hours and you can sell back into market better than you bought. Stop looking for perfection and look for diamonds in the rough. My best purchases have been made with that mindset. So what if the car has more problems than a politician with herpes? Buy at right price and you can make it work well on resale.

I've pretty much only been a lurker on this forum, but I have been checking this thread on a weekly basis for at least a few years now. I'm one of the folks who test drove this particular car and can chime in. The seller is a great guy so I don't want to post anything critical in his auction. I also really want to buy the car, so I don't want to be a jerk and try to drive others away.

I thought the car was fantastic, but it definitely does need a few things. There are some minor cosmetic issues throughout as seen in the photos, the wheels need refinishing, it's on cheap Chinese tires, and the driver's seat foam has collapsed. I'd get new seats and harnesses if I win it. Also - the owner definitely drives it harder than I would - running it up to red line 60 seconds after a cold start for example.

I think the current bid of $30k is probably pretty close to what the car should be valued at. Given that it's already titled, registered, and inspected in MA and that it's 30 minutes from my house... I will continue bidding and I'd be willing to overpay by several thousand dollars for the convenience alone. With that said - if someone wants to REALLY overpay - I'll bow out and keep looking.

Keep in mind that there is always another suitable car that comes along within the next 2 months. Shipping a car is only a couple of thousand dollars - that frames your bidding strategy. Good luck with the auction!
