NOGOSLO
Hello, I'm new here and to Sevens in general--tho fluent in Lotus Elan and Europa. Recent post on eBay has me awondering....http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Caterham-/111663760025?forcerrptr=true&hash=item19ffadc299&item=111663760025 Seller doesn't know much about the car (which is scary) other than it has live rear end. Is this specimen a long cockpit version? (seller doesn't know). What are the thoughts of the Sevenisti here about this car in general? Is it really a Caterham? I LOVED my Fiat 124 Sport Coupe back in the day, and this engine is all-aluminum light--not bad thinking for use in a light platform such as a Seven. But turbocharging strikes me as hubristic. Cheers, Paul

w650gb500
The Rotus in MD was sold this weekend. It followed me home on the trailer to PA. It's a bit rough, but for the price, I can straighten it out. I did find out how difficult it is to negotiate on the purchase price when you are 2 hours from Carlisle and it is the Import/Kit Car weekend. Oh well, still a good deal. Croc
On Ebay a Locost 7 in Portland Oregon. Been on this thread before but relisted. 1971 Lotus 7 replica, green/yellow exterior. Tan interior. Range Rover aluminum V-8, Getrag 5 spd transmission. Open check book restoration- no expenses spared. Completed summer of 2014- virtually not used since completed (estate sale). Great cruiser, show or track car. Show quality restoration! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Lotus-7-replica-open-2-seater-/161712081605?forcerrptr=true&hash=item25a6ca8ac5&item=161712081605 The 3.5L Rover V8 originated as the all alloy Buick engine in the 60s. Tons of parts and hot up pieces for them. The Getrag is probably a T5 box as they were commonly bolted behind the Rover engine. Pretty fresh looking in the photos - looks well detailed. No bids are starting of $19995. This next one is interesting. A 1989 Westfield crossflow. Currently located in Yokohama, Japan. The idea is you buy the car for its buy it now price of $12900 (or make and offer) and then for an additional $2000 they will ship it to the US plus 2.5% import tax. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Super-7-SE-convertible-/191586208487?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2c9b6d8ae7&item=191586208487 These types of deals concern me as they have all your money and you have nothing for months - the seller has no skin in the game to make this successful for you the buyer. Lots of people have had great success with these deals but there are a number who have had them go sour. Also my experiences with importing cars have had their moments so I am super careful with documentation. For those who are thinking of doing this here are the questions you ask: - see a photo of the build/chassis plates that have the chassis date imprinted to confirm the over 25 year old status. - get a good clean copy of the original and translation of the registration documents showing the car year and description to confirm the over 25 year old status (you need this for state titling anyway). - inquire whether it is RORO or container shipping - lots of things go missing on RORO shipping as it is sitting there open in the hold for crew members to souvenir things. My bet is that it is RORO. - confirm the price of shipping includes full insurance, loading and unloading fees, stevedore fees, port fees, non-import taxes levied by the government and customs bonding and inspection fees. That $2k offer could balloon to double really quick. - find out which port they are shipping to - probably LA so allow for shipping home to wherever you are in the US. For all of that she is a lovely looking Westfield! Then moving from Yokohama to Moscow (ID!) there is this Locost project - not quite finished but close enough it is registered as a 1965 Lotus 7. Croc
1969 Lotus 7 S3 in Victoria Canada asking $38800 (I assume in USD?) 1969 Lotus Seven Series 3 - with Twin Cam Lotus 1,600cc EngineFor Sale on here on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191540797144 This 1969 Lotus Seven is the best restored we've ever seen, and the best driving we've ever taken on the road. It was completely restored by Super 7 Cars Inc. in Chemainus BC - the only Authorised Caterham Super 7 manufacturer in Canada and an expert on the real Lotus Seven cars. The previous owner told us he spent over $30,000 on the restoration. Like many original Sevens, it does have some Caterham parts, installed when restored. There aren't many Lotus Sevens in completely original condition anymore. We are told this is a two-owner car from new, and classic car guru, Rudi Koniczek, in Victoria BC, claims to remember working on this car in the mid-1970s (there weren't that many of them on the island back then). The engine was upgraded to a Lotus twin-cam with dual weber carbs. The sound and performane is exhilerating. The reviews and videos online don't lie; the Seven is, to this day, one of the most insane supercars ever designed. It's light and rides likea CART race car on the streets. Lotus are famous for their handling and the Seven evolved from their race cars. Colin Chapman designed a car that is now legendary. This Third Generation Lotus Seven is the last successful evolution of his design and arguably the most beautiful. The fourth series was a bit of a failure and the rights to build the car were sold to Caterham, who still manufacture them today. Don't miss your chance to own one of the approx 340 Lotus built third series Sevens. They aren't as common as you might think and very rare to find them in completely restored, excellent running condition. We have all the wet weather gear for this car and a number of spare parts. As far as we know this is not one of the original twin-cam cars. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/super_seven/1727779.html 1997 Dax Rush Seven project claimed to be 95-99% complete in Shreveport LA For sale is a 95-99% complete 1997 Dax Rush Lotus 7 Replica. It's currently in the shop and not running, but only requires some minor work to get road worthy. The good: 2003 Duratec 2.3L I4 Motor w/57,000miles -Remote oil cooler and filter -Balance shaft delete and oil pan baffle -Ram air intake -Custom 4-1 mandrel bent stainless steel exhaust 2006 Mazda Miata 6spd manual transmission Walbro 255lph fuel pump Aeromotive fuel controller with custom fuel rail Corbeau 4 point harnesses Willwood brass and full stainless steel brake lines New Dunlop Dunlop Direzza DZ101 205/50R-15 tires on aluminum racing wheels New Fidanza Flywheel with Exedy stage 1 clutch and more than I can list. The Bad: It probably needs a flatter oilpan (dry or wet sump). The oil pan hangs about 5" below the car due to engine mounting. The battery is likely dead. The ECU needs a tune and flash to eliminate some of the anti-theft control, remap for fixed fuel pressure, tune for intake and exhaust. The computer came with the original key and RFID receiver, so VATS should be easy to eliminate. There is some rubbing in the transmission bell-housing, unknown source. If you can we can talk more. I'd say in the best case scenario it would need only $2,000 in fixes, at worst $5,000. I'm selling since I have other projects and I just haven't been giving it the time it deserves. The car has not yet been titled or registered. Price is OBO. There's a lot more to talk about so call or visit. Seller gets kudos from me for being comprehensive as to the work needed. However, he is asking $22000 which is really steep for an incomplete non-runner that is not yet titled or registered.
