https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/forums/topic/261100-headlight-dipped-and-main-beam-problems/ this may give you some ideas on where to look. Although it’s likely a bit different wiring layout. maybe use a tracer to find where the cut out is happening. https://a.co/d/07OC6834

TorqueSpec started following Main beam wiring

Hey all - nearing the end of my 360R build and am trying to sort out an issue with the main beams (high beams). Dipped (low beams) headlights work with the switch. But when I turn on the main beams, either with the dedicated switch or the flash to pass switch, the main beams do NOT come on, though the dashboard indicator does come on. Here is what I’ve tested: - Headlight relay works - Main beam fuse is fine - multi meter shows power at the fuse and at the relay as expected. Somewhere along the line, power is being interrupted to the headlights. Given neither main beam works and neither switch works, I’m guessing a connection somewhere. Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Full build can be found in the build threads…

Tim, you have to go to the Triumph guys for the car that used the 7" (Stanpart) Standard 10 ,TR 10, Herald axle and shop for those parts. There are many here who have S2s who could give a quick answer. I hope they do. Tony wheel writes, "The series 2 use the cheaper but similarly sized axle from the standard triumph, eight, ten and companion range of cars , which was almost out of production by 1960. Axle supplies, though , lasted for another eight years." If that is what you have. Rear brakes may have been changed out to suit the 7 and another owner may have so checking that is something. I reccomend pulling a drum and measuring the inner diameter and brake shoe width. Get any part numbers off the shoes, drum back plate, drum, and axle. An interesting factoid, a Standard 10 axle from the 60s still has a lot of part interchangeability with the Ital/Marina axles of the 80s. I will look for the info for the Triumph Standard 10 brakes. Another thing, what you find will not likely have the correct shoe compound. Shaving down the middle of the shoes may help prevent lockup. Here is a relining specialist https://porterfield-brakes.com/manufacturer/brake-shoes/ From Tony Weale Per Weale, rear brake shoe PN for 60-68 S2 Standard Axle is "MGR21", which may be an early Caterham catalog PN. Per the Caterham Lotus 7 S2,3&4 Service Manual reprint, Section J 10, Rear shoe PN for "M.S.1"= "120131", which may be for S1 Metropolitan axle. Then M.S.3 =8260. Unfortunately in the illustrated key to axle components list, he brake shoe PN is not listed, sec H 5. But it would be a Lotus PN. The Dave Bean catalog gives this You may want to call Ken @(209) 754-5802 I will update this post with new info.

Need the brake handle and cable please

Considered, but I hope for smaller so as not to obstruct flow to radiator

Wayne, thanks for the quick reply. I do have a shipping drop in Buffalo NY or they could go to a friend in PA. As to selecting a shipper, I don’t have a clue. The key would be the packaging. My experiences with having delivery companies pack have not been overly positive. If there is anyone one you could recommend, it would be miles better than my guessing. Regards, John

Looks that way to my eye, too.

Any chance you left out that it's fitted with lowered floors?

Before Harbor Freight trip, it was cars and coffee... Hey, we're all Ford-powered! I was really surprised to see a 620R at the gathering as well! 19504739-3159-4043-AF40-D2215D8D32EA_1_201_a.heic

The “Picture I took of my car today” thread revealed that some of us have shared time with a Europa. Here’s Black Beauty 3841R again. Brought her home on my 55th birthday. Dad owned some Dodge and Plymouth dealerships back in the muscle car days. Once when I was about 20 I was out with Dad buying cars. We went to a Ford dealer somewhere and there sat a perfect JPS. Dad knew that was my dream car. And that I knew he could buy it for me. We were there to buy cars, but cars to sell for profit. Dad said, and I told this at his funeral. “You’ll have to do that for yourself son”. It took 35 years but it came true. Thank you Dad for helping me believe it could happen. There are other stories with this wonderful little car. I am sure that everyone who posts here about their Europa wishes they knew where she was now. I titled this including that we have had a Seven in our garage at some point too. So the thread might not get scarce so quickly

Sorry, we're getting a little off topic here but I had to join in. Our 1973 TCS (registered as a ’74) was yellow. After a Jeep Cherokee ran a red light and drove over the front end it spent a year in the body shop. During that time I decided to have the colour changed to red. By the time it was finished we had become a family of four. So we sold it to a young mechanic who lived in Toronto. Years later he decided to strip it down to restore/repair/modify it. I’m sure I saw it up for sale as a stalled project a couple or three decades ago. I have no idea if/when it sold or where it is today. I’d like another one but I’m very picky about them now having learned all the problems that came with them after owning one.

COOL JPS!! I loved how Lotus had the nerve to charge ~$100 for the black paint, and admit that they had to do extra sanding of the top, so the waves in the 'glas didn't show! Here's a couple of pics of my old Europa TC - (now living in Holland!) --Bob

I see in your signature, that you & I have a lot in common - I had a '72 Europa Twincam for 21 years. Sold it in 2001, due to lack of garage space. Replaced it in 2007 with an Elise. Added a Seven in 2015. Enjoying both now, immensely! --Bob Collum

A few pictures from our East Coast Lotus Meet - we had FOUR Sevens at Summit Point Raceway... We did several 'touring' laps, during a break in the racing action. A GREAT TIME! --Bob Collum

Could someone with this stuff in their head tell me the specification for the brake shoes for a 1962 Series 2 America? They appear very ordinary, but as usual the parts dealers name the more common cars that use them but not the Lotus Seven. Thanks.

We had a long weekend up here so Sunday afternoon we took a drive. We traveled south east about 27 miles on nice sweeping back roads to fill up with fuel. We save on average 32 cents per liter, ($1.12 per US gallon) by buying on the first nations land. We continued back west along some very scenic roads approximately 39 miles to arrive an hour early for the Sunday Cruise Night in Trenton, Ontario. We ate an early meal on the covered outdoor patio at the grill overlooking the parking lot and watched as others started to arrive. It was a great turnout for the first show of the season with 110 registered cars. Dozens more came and went over the course of the evening. By 7:30-ish we were beat and decided to leave. We drove almost straight north the 14 miles to arrive back at home. In total about 80 sunny, fun filled miles. Tonight, (Monday) was the Brighton Ontario Cruise. The wife spent all today working in the garage to make room for her new to her Spitfire and was too tired so I did this event solo. The first photo was taken at the Trenton show and the second photo at Brighton. I put the plexy wind defectors on just for show. I prefer to drive with the doors on to cut down on the wind.
