I didn't realize you had the 485. I would think that exhaust would be the same as the R500 system, but those measurements match the 420. I think part of the problem is I'm trying to apply logic to something done by the Caterham factory A local 620R owner has volunteered to take measurements of his exhaust. I'll post those once I have them. -John

Thanks Renottse. I'm really trying to find the sizes for the 500 and 620 as those are both available new from the factory. Given they list the 420, 500, and 620 as different parts, the assumption is that the diameters of the primary and rear of the collector/silencer tubing differ, but before I order the 620, I'd like to know what I'm buying. I posed the same question on BlatChat and had some interesting responses. Someone with an R400D (precursor to the 420) replaced his silencer with one from a 620 and it was a perfect fit. This tells me that unless the R400D had a larger diameter system than the 420, the 620 rear collector output should be 2.5" However, this seems undersized for 310hp. I would have expected it to be in the 2.75" - 3" range.

I'm trying to identify the tubing diameters of the factory 4-1 exhaust manifolds for the 420R, R500, and 620R. I've been told that the measurements for the 420 are: Primary tubing: 1-3/4" Rear collector exit: 2-1/2" Does anyone know the measurements for the other two or do you happen to have a set in your garage that you could measure? Thanks, John

The Regular Summary of Classified Ads of Se7ens Found For Sale

@Bruce K I'm assuming you are trying to reach me. I just send you an email to discuss the issue and provide troubleshooting steps. If you do not receive it, please open a Support ticket (click Support on the top-level navigation). If you cannot open a Support ticket, then please start a new thread in the help section. Thanks, John -
The Caterham is pretty complete. Body panels are attached to the frame, windscreen and weather gear is installed, brake and fuel lines are run, wiring harness, dash, and gauges are in place, etc. You need to install the seats, roll bar, suspension/brakes, drivetrain, cooling system, lighting, and a number of other small things Pokey's thread here is pretty thorough and has a lot of photos. You can also download the current build guide here, although it's not quite as easy as that document indicates. Just because it says to insert tab A into slot B, doesn't mean tab A actually fits into slot B, or Caterham remembered to include tab A with your shipment. Still a lot easier than rolling your own though. -John

So, tell us a little about yourselves

The Mazda box wasn't fitted until much later. The 5 speed from that era is a Ford Type-9. Lots of information on that gearbox, including drain plug location, can be found here in the Downloads section. -John -

Very nice car and a great find! Just FYI that HEIC files are not supported by our forum software, so you need to save these as JPEGs as I did above. Thanks, John -
Today's maintenance update provided a slight upgrade to the Search interface. Previously, if you wanted to narrow your search to a specific location, you had to click "more options" to access a new screen. With the update, you can do this directly from the Search box as shown below. Simply click the default location which appears on the right side of the Search box when you either hover over it or click into it (picture 1), then select from the options shown in the drop-down box that appears below (picture 2). You will continue to have additional filtering options available from the Search results page (picture 3) by clicking the "More search options" button (picture 4). 1) 2) 3) 4) -John

60/40 split is what was widely stated about that MC in Westfield circles, but AP later confirmed to Westfield Parts Dept and a few others that it's actually a 50/50 split. The bore size is 13/16" and the information about shimming comes from AP's site. -John

@magazineman, I think I just fixed that by adding a carriage return between the two photos. -John

I removed the ad with photos from the post above. This thread is intended to identify se7ens advertised elsewhere and provide links to those advertisements. It is not intended to host those ads and associated photos. Those should live as individual threads so people can ask questions/discuss. Thanks, John -
Looks like a fun route. Hopefully other cars and trucks weren't getting in your way! -John

That looks a lot like @kayentaskier's car. Such a great color! -John

@Croc I removed his downforce. Please see this hep guide when your photos are upside down: Thanks, John -
The new CEO calling you and taking responsibility is a positive sign. Hopefully they are taking a look at why this wasn't caught during initial QA and implementing steps to avoid something similar occurring in the future. Sh*t happens. A good business leader views those as learning opportunities. -John

Really sorry to read that. Did they disclose the build issue to you, or just characterize it as big? -John

Cleaning/maintenance of pipercross sausage filter?
JohnCh replied to KnifeySpoony's topic in General Tech
Pipercross recommends doing it annually. See video below for the steps. It shows the panel filter, but it's the same material and procedure for the sausage filter. -John -
Hi @Vovchandr the issue with attachment space is that your paid Club Member status expired last week, so your limits went from 500MB to 100MB but you have uploaded over 135MB. I'll look into the numbers later and see if we can afford to raise the limits a bit for each group. BTW the dashboard shows that you are about to hit your PM limit of 50 (it was 500 with your old status) so you may want to delete unneeded messages. Thanks, John

@MV8 and @Anaximander, I think you two are on the same page but misinterpreting each other's comments. I believe Anaximander's sad emoji was meant to reflect sadness that the buyer is showing remorse and may not keep the car (I agree, an unwanted se7en is a sad thing), whereas MV8 is interpreting it as a comment that he thinks it's okay to back out on a deal (which he does not). If I'm incorrect, then have at it, otherwise, perhaps have a virtual beer together. -John -
Since it looks like Greg is away for a bit and I was there for some of the troubleshooting last weekend, I will address this. We used a spark tester that plugs into a coil in place of the sparkplug and visibly sparks when the coil is triggered as the engine cranks. When put on the end of the #2 coil, there was no spark When put on the end of the #1 coil, there was spark Plugging the #2 coil into the connector for #1, we again saw sparks, indicating the #2 coil itself was operating as expected. Plugging the #1 coil into the connector for #2 and there was no spark From the above, we concluded that the issue was with either the ECU (ignition driver for #2) or the wiring for #2. -John

I was able to spit the topic and create a new thread called "Cooling Issues" in the General Tech forum. -John

@Pokey I have new crank and cam sensors you can borrow. They are currently installed on the 2.4L on the engine stand in my garage. -John

I was fast forwarding thru a video, WTF
JohnCh replied to fastg's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Very cool and car looks great! The rest of that video is also worth watching. Fascinating to hear Probst walk through the lap like that. -John -
Unfortunately, I can't make it this year, but please post a few pictures if you have time. There is usually a decent assortment of sevens in attendance. Thanks, John
