Nope, you should have a black part called the dry sump guard that fills that gap. It's one of that parts that can be a little fiddly to fit or you luck out and the bolts align perfectly. Caterham uses the same bellhousing for wet sump and dry sump cars, but because the dry sump pan is so much shallower, you end of with the step and resulting gap.

That explains so much... -
This is down to personal preference. I've built two cars on Esco flat top jack stands and have never longed for something taller or on wheels. They've been more than sufficient for me. The one caveat is that both times I had plenty of build space around the car. Given your space is more limited, the ability to wheel the car around -- particularly if it's a leisurely build -- might be a consideration.

Effective wind deflector/buffeting reduction?

I don't follow your post. I wrote that I had a shop that did Plexiglas work make them from polycarbonate. That statement is true. They positioned their business as a maker of things from Plexiglas. I had them use polycarbonate instead due to that material's strength and scratch resistance advantage. -
They have standards? When did that happen?

360X0006A is 6" in diameter and intended for the 1.6L Sigma. You should have the 7" silencer. I'd also verify the tube is the same diameter as the catalytic converter. It wouldn't surprise me if the Sigma is 2.25" tube vs. 2.5" for the Duratec. The biggest duplicate part I received was a dry sump tank dipstick. A second roll bar is in a different league.

Sounds like you'll have a busy weekend! I know you've already received some good build blog suggestions in an earlier thread, but there is a new one that looks worth adding to that list: https://www.caterham420rbuild.co.uk/

From your posts and responses, it certainly looks like you are dealing with Caterham and not a scam artist. If they are not responding to your messages sent through their platform, it is worth the time to pick up the phone and speak to someone live. Although there are many aspects of Caterham's business approach I dislike, I would never characterize them as frauds or scam artists. I suspect there is either an issue with their receipt of your messages, or your receipt of their responses. A phone call should clear that up.

The battery is much bigger in the Moto II (600mAh vs. 400mAh) but the bigger screen and other features appear to require more juice. They claim 14 hours of normal use and never less than 9 hours if the backlight is continually running at its highest setting vs. 20 hours and 10 hours for the Moto. Interestingly where they state a backlight off time of 30 hours for the Moto, they don't provide an equivalent for the Moto II. It's exceedingly rare for me to do over 8 hours of actual driving time on a tour, so I don't see battery life being an issue. Besides, I have a USB charging port on the side of the glovebox and carry a charging cable for my phone that also works with the Moto II, so if battery life is ever a problem, I'll simply plug it in and continue on. Or that's the plan.

I recently picked up the newly available Beeline Moto II, which is the evolution of the Moto navigation device they released a few years ago. Other than @Austin David's post this morning showing an original Moto on his dash, and an older mention by @SENC, I don't recall reading anything about Beeline here, so thought I'd share my initial impressions and raise awareness. The Moto II pairs with your phone to supply simplified navigation on a 37mm screen. This info includes direction and distance to the next turn, current speed limit ,and how far into your journey you've travelled. Additionally, small LEDs blink once when you're 200 meters from the upcoming turn, and twice when you're just 50 meters away. You can toggle through other screens such as speedometer, journey progress, battery levels of both the Beeline and your phone, and a compass mode that always points towards your destination -- perfect for exploring an area without becoming hopelessly lost. It packs a lot into a small space while allowing you to keep your phone in your pocket where it's less of a distraction. Thus far, I'm really impressed. Rerouting works great when there is a data signal, yet only GPS is required to follow a preplanned route saved to the Beeline app. Just the thing when you're blatting off the grid. Unlike a phone, it doesn't look out of place in a se7en, and because it is so light (just 42 grams for the plastic version) a robust mount isn't required. In my case, I 3D printed a magnetic mount that leverages a fishing magnet on the back of the dash and a very thick, embedded steel washer in the base of the printed part. It's very easy to mount/unmount and doesn't leave a visible trace when removed. Thus far it's held up to g-forces, but I'll stress test it more this weekend. If there is any creeping over the course of a drive, I'll add some friction material to the base and/or magnet face. For those interested, more information is available here: https://beeline.co/

That's good. If they aren't responding to messages you are leaving through your account page (https://caterhamparts.co.uk/order-history, click on the order, then scroll down to the message box) then I would call them in the morning.
-
Although the message is using the proper logo and the 9-letter reference number is consistent with numbers I have received from them on past orders, that can all be faked, as can the return email address. @Vovchandr's question is the key. Did you order from caterhamparts.CO.UK or caterhamparts.COM? The first is genuine, the second shows very different domain registration data on ICANN and appears fake.

I've driven in some pretty vile weather on tours without issue and none of the other cars with exposed filters on those tours had problems. The picture below shows how much of the filter is exposed on the Westfield. -John

I thought you were going to identify some catastrophic problem, like they changed their color scheme to feature yellow. See this video on how to reposition the fixed buckle: -
So, tell us a little about yourselves

Yarwood claimed the 1700cc engine made 145hp but it was really more like 120hp on a good day. My engine put down a touch under 100hp at the rear wheels on dynojet. They may not be ballistic, but they are a fun engine with great sonics. That was just a brief run to about 85mph. I need to record the Caterham doing something similar. As impressive as the acceleration is with the built 2.0L in the Westfield, the 2.4L in the Caterham is in another league. It's amazing what another 30hp and 8% shorter gearing can do. -

Push-button replacement for Dzus fasteners on Caterham nose.
JohnCh replied to pethier's topic in General Tech
The 620 nosecone places the lower Dzus fasteners on the side where they are much easier to access. I wonder why they don't standardize in that location? -John -

Beautiful Elan! The seven and Elan make a great garage pair. I'm sure you're already aware of the LotusElan.net forum, but if not, check it out. It's a great resource. https://lotuselan.net/forums/

If you had a pressure spike, that can kill a mechanical gauge. Been there, done that. I'd confirm the gauge is not faulty and isn't showing zero oil pressure, when in fact, it's fine. In this type of situation, oil can also spray from the breather ports. Are you running a catch can or breather filter, or does it vent directly to atmosphere?

It looks like gmail made some changes. I think I now have things working correctly but I would appreciate confirmation. Please let me know if they start to flow for you or if they are still MIA.

I just received another heads up from a member about someone attempting this scam on them today. Logs showed the same person also tried it this with a second member yesterday. That individual has been warned, and the sccammer has been banned.

Thanks! Is anyone else having an issue or can anyone confirm they are still receiving them today? Before I can open a ticket, I need to understand if it's impacting everyone or just a subset of people.
