Very nice Photo. So how did you do and it looks like you have your good rear fenders on the car in that shot.:yesnod:

Mazda, Take the weight off the rear suspension. I have been told that adjustable valve shocks if set with the adjustment valve full open or closed and then loaded with weight that they can sometimes stick under load.

Tom that is one nice 996 and a neat lift. Buy the way your 7 always looks so clean. Wish I could keep mine looking half as clean. I have actually contacted the Widow of Dr. Harkins (I think his practice was in Coatesville) a longtime ago and she did not remember the car but their son did and he told me that his father had sold it in 1978 and that he did not know who that person was or where they were from. The VIN number dose not come up on any of the registries that I have been able to search so I figure the car must have been destroyed or is sitting in someone’s garage collecting dust. Oh well that is the way it goes and I don't think I could afford to buy the car back if I found it due to what they are selling for today. Last one I saw sold at over 1 million which is way out of my budget for a car unless someone dies and leaves me a large fortune which is very un-likely. Morgan, Glad to see you have Orange out for a blat. 500hp EXIGE definatly not stock and very radical and a hand full to drive onthe street I would bet.

Hi Tom, I have an original 914-6 that I purchased new on June 7, 1970 and it out handles most street cars but not the 7 even on street tires. Did not know you had a 911, what year and model. I have been a PCA member for more years than I want to admit. Second car I ever owned was a I have been toying with the idea of getting another 930 just because I like that ruch when you push on the go-fast pedel and that with the way the market is their seems to be a number of them now on the market for the picking. I have also been looking at the New Cayman's as they seem to be very sweet with a lot of potential. Wish I still had my 1973 RSR that I purchased new back then and sold to a Doctor in Media, Pa. in 1975. I have tried to locate that car several times in the past with out any luck but that is the way it goes. It was one of I think 60 road going RSR's that were sold in the US at the time out of something like 165 or 175 RSR's produced by Porsche for the US and Germany. Only draw back to the car was the window lifts as they were leather straps with holes that hooked to a post so you could adjust the door windows for ventlation as it was a very basic 911 with a lot of the extra stuff remover to keep the car as light as possiable yet still be a street car. It is the only car that I regret that I have ever sold and I have owned a lot of cars since 1967 and a lot of Porsches to boot. Heck at one time my wife and I owned 11 Porsches at one time (9 yes 914's an 911S her car an a 930) besides our daily drivers. The neighbors use to complane when we had them all out and at the house...could never figure out why as it was a car show for the neighbor hood......Oh well life goes on and cars come and go at present we only have 7 cars for two people really dose not make sence but what dose today.

Hi Tom, That is just mean......LOL to myself as I have a Porsche and their is no comparison for cornering.

I would have to agree with slngsht as most of the problem with our economy is that the American public and business and government is overextended with credit and has no real assets to backup their credit lines or very little true assets to cover their loads. My belief to solve this problem would be to have our government (Federal and States) balance their budgets first and foremost. Then have our banks / lending organizations cut the amount of credit available (personal and business) and quit letting people and business borrow more than they can possibly cover with real collateral. Yes our economy will most likely take a drastic dive / crash, but it will eventually level out and come into balance once people and business come to realize that true value of anything is what the market can bare and sustain without the inflated value due to greed or keeping up with the JONE’s attitude of most people. Just my belief and thoughts and that is why I am not in charge of anything except my self and my wallet.

Hi Gert, Maybe selling back SoCal and Southern Arizona and Southern Nevada and Southern Texas to Mexico could also help and all of us that live in these areas really would not see much of a difference I don't think.....something to think about.....

How and where do you store your extra home brewed fuel. Who is the manufacture of the system you have as I have been looking into it for my own use as I have a diesel truck also.
-
I have to agree with him and I do believe Andrew J. Bacevich has correctly identified why our government is the way it is today but it goes even deeper than what he has said. It is my belief that most of our problems stem from individual greed and the lack of caring about one-anthers beliefs and feelings and our societies attitude that it is their right even if they have not earned any of those perceived rights that most Americans think they are due. If you want to open your mind talk to some older folks that lived through the post depression era and ask them why they think our country is the way it is today and you might be surprised to find that they think our generation (baby boomers) have really screwed up in lots of ways but mainly by not having a spine to say hell no to the liberals and greedy individuals that are out there. Well enough of my rant...sorry if I have inflamed anyone’s beliefs but that is why this is America...the land of the free...for at least my life time I hope and pray.

So that is why it has taken you a long time to get your car on the road......HAHA.....mine is still sitting in the shop were you saw it.....so can I be your VP.....LOL LOL.

JBH, The owner of the Stalker was most likely mad as hell due to the fact that you could keep up with him in your street car and that he had poured lost of money into his car thinking that it would be the fastest thing on the track...besides your 7 looks a lot better than his car.

That is Funny but how many RR owners have the nads to race their RR like that person. I tip my hat to that ownerof the RR.

Keith and Janel Tanner, All I can say after watching the clip that Boxologist posted is "WOW" and I kept thinking and woundering how many times did Janel reach over and smack you during the different stages for scaring her. Janel had the hardest job of the team but you both did very well together so WELL DONE. PS: So are you going to write about your experance for all of us that don't have your drive for adventure.

That would be a 14 then......

Well Fred Heim is my type of Builder Nut and a true Dreamer. The detail is just unreal. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6253734632034016208&hl=en Very Cool. PS: I at one time worked for over five years in the engineering and design department of a large off road equipment manufacture so I know just how hard it is to build one of these vehicles.

Most boat supply stores also cary the same stuff in rolls if you have one in your area.

While I am on a roll, ;;What turned each of us on to a 7

Alaskossie, Good going and keep the build going as the build is the hardest part but also one of the best parts of 7 ownership as how many people can say that they actually built the car they are driving. By the way how many 7 are in Alaska besides yours. -
That is great. At first I figured it was just a spoof but when my dog started barking and gralling I realized that I just could not hear it. Great find....and a way to drive the kids and neighbors dog nuts including my dog. (Edited Post to correct spelling.)

WestTexasS2K, Don't feel bad at least you caught the error....most people would have never caught it and maybe that is the real problem that needs to be addressed. Poor educational system (public schools) Lack of caring by the general public except for themselves (me generation) Got to have it now and will pay for it later attitude of most people (time to pay up is just down the street in most cases) Enough said I am going back into my hole now.... :ack: :ack: :cuss:

Hi Rob, I have welting on the rear fenders on my car now. The first time I mounted the fenders I did not use it and I found that the fenders made a lot of chattering against the aluminum skin and that I was always having to tighten the bolts that hold them on to the body. I used the fender welting that you can get at any good auto parts store and jut cut it to length for the fenders and punched my own holes in it for the attachmentpoints. Hope this helps.

That is VERY FUNNY especially the gestures. -
Now that is funny....I did not have the volume turned on and I still got it....I like the way the driver looks so calm and relaxed while the passanger was screaming.
