  1. I am rethinking doing a direct replacement and using something more common at 1/3 the cost. I could use some help with the wiring. In post #42 I show the wire connections. I think the White wire is from the ignition switch. On the relay there are 0 ohms between that terminal and the case/mounting bracket. What might the Black wire connect to? +12v to boost the ignition voltage during start up? My Caterham wiring diagram shows the relay on the starter, that's not how mine is configured.
  2. What does molasses do for the garden? Get rid of ants?
  3. The guy at NAPA used an old school BOOK to identify the relay. It's an Echlin Ignition ST236 (NAPA's manufacture). He didn't find any listed as "in stock" in the ATL warehouse, it's a Monday check with the manufacture part. As far as an application, it was used on Jaguar, MG Triumph, Hillman. Let me know if there state side sources. Thanks Y'all
  4. So I have added all my fluids and have all the wires reconnected except the ignition. I turn the key and hear the relay CLICK, once, but the starter is silent. Battery +13.5v to the relay but zero on the starter side. I was able to remove the relay but it took some figuring. It is(was) mounted to the fire wall/ bottom of the foot well with nuts and bolts. Whoever installed it didn't plan on replacing it. Now I'm off to NAPA to see if we can figure what the application is.
  5. With (more than) a little help from a friend the engine and transmission are back in the car. Since I replaced the pan gasket, the motor is completely empty of oil. I was thinking about filling the oil filter before installing it. I am planning on running the starter some before connecting the ignition. 10 seconds?
  6. Brain fart!
  7. :rofl::rofl::rofl:
  8. Looking at the roll hoop, I'm guessing they didn't have broom sticks.
  9. I'm not sure the weight is a problem. it looks to be powered by a V8.
  10. I'm guessing it's going to be hanging under the rear of the car. Right?
  11. Happy New Year y'all :cooldude: :jester:

    Broon F8

Broon F8, for when you have tooooo much money.
  13. So, what did you do next?
  14. How much weight are you planning on shipping?
  15. I thought about attempting to replace the pan gasket, but there are at least 2 bolts behind the bellhousing shield that could not be accessed without separating the engine form the tranny. I am pondering on how to modify the shield to remove the lower portion with everything still together. The gap in the shield is how I found it, I'm not sure what the purpose is.
  16. My crossflow has leaked oil from the pan gasket. I have replaced the gasket since the engine came out due to tranny work. I used Permatex #2, old school stuff. No results yet, it's still on the engine stand. My tranny mechanic told me it wasn't leaking, it was marking it's territory.
  17. Check this link out. http://oldcarcityusa.com/ I haven't visited it yet, but it's on my list.
  18. Someone is going to get a great project.
  19. How many miles are on the engine? Were they all on unleaded fuel? How did you notice a change/problem?
  20. Check out the documentary on how they did it.
  21. There's also the heated "hoody" from Milwaukee Power Tools. It also comes in gray. http://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-tools/cordless/2370
  22. I say something like that flying off the track on the back straight at Road Atlanta. It was out of a GTO class Camaro with an exploding transmission. The flywheel also exited at a great rate and fortunately missed the corner station and disappeared into the woods.
  23. I've gotten a few items imported and it is a lot higher then domestic rates. I would guess 75 to 100 pounds British Sterling. I have (I think) the same type 2 4 speed you have. My rebuilder couldn't find parts (syncros), but they weren't the problem. It was needle bearings between the input and main shaft that were bad. He located a 5 speed in Texas that could fit in, but it would require a bell housing. It totaled up to $4000. On top of that I would have to get the drive shaft modified along with the shift linkage. I passed on the swap.
  24. It looks that way to me also. But I wonder about the springs, they may be lower rated because there looks like a lot of air above the rears also and when it has occupants it looks "better". Or my car is just lower than that one.
