It's not really made for a Seven but I bet it would fit in this:
-
Robert - It's a different Duratec than the 2.0 and 2.3 used in a Seven. It's a 1.6 liter, picture and details below: The 1600cc 110 PS specification: · Ford Duratec all-aluminium 1600cc 16-valve engine · Unique induction system with K&N cone filter, bespoke throttle body and cast aluminium alloy inlet manifold · Unique Formula Ford dry-sump system with twin scavenge, single pressure and separate toothed-belt drive · Formula Ford specific ‘stretchy’ belt front end accessory drive to standard water pump · Bespoke motorsport ECU · Bespoke motorsport engine wiring harness · Power output: 110PS @ 6750rpm · Torque: 150Nm@5250

I agree with Gary. Mine is the same design as his, it works very well, and is the stock latch that came on my Birkin. Maybe they are available from Dick Brink.

Ron - Would love to see photos of your new ride if you get a chance. Maybe start a new thread in the "Members Rides" section. Also, just in case you don't know about it check out this cool original Lotus Seven site run by John D. http://www.simplesevens.org/

Alaskossie/Croc - Thanks for the compliments guys, every once in a while I get lucky! Mazda - Nancy says hi too. When we first got married and moved to Connecticut I told her that all the northern women drove around with the top down in the middle of winter and that they all split firewood. It took her a little while to realize that isn't true, but now it's too late!

Not sure what offset you're running Dave, but the Team Dynamics wheels are available in the Birkin recommended 30mm offset: http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Parts/Miata/Wheels-Tires/Wheels.html

Nancy and I took the Birkin for a drive up to Mt Equinox, Vermont over the weekend. We left home at 5:45am on Sunday morning with the hope of getting to Mt Equinox at 9am when it opens. There was very minimal traffic so we made great time, but it was in the 30's when we left so with no top or heater it was REALLY cold...I even stopped for something warm to drink which I never do! Arrived at the entrance to Mt Equinox a little after 9am and spent a couple hours driving up and down the mountain and sightseeing at the various lookouts along the way. It's really a neat drive with some really tight 2nd gear hairpins and some beautifull views of the surrounding mountains. The summit was clouded over and really windy, but the rest of the drive was spectacular, if a little bumpy in spots. :driving: Here's some info on Mt Equinox: http://www.equinoxmountain.com/skylinedrive/index.htm Went north from there up to Manchester Center where we ran into our first traffic of the trip. :banghead: At least the sun was out so it was starting to warm up. Stopped at an empty fairgrounds and had a nice picnic lunch and took a few photos of the Birkin. Spent the next few hours driving some nice backroads on the way home. All told we were gone for about 9 hours and did about 325 miles. That's the most we've done in one day and reminds me we have to do something about the stock Birkin seats! Here's a few pics from the trip:

Doug/Mike - That's it??? I'm jealous! I still have jobs to do from last winter's projects.... :banghead: -
windscreen and radar detector help needed
11Budlite replied to MNlotus's topic in General Sevens Discussion
MNlotus - I don't have any experience with aeroscreens, but I would think if the screen is stable enough you could mount them something like this (photo borrowed Neil G's site: http://www.biggles.net/build.html). -
I had to run to Home Depot to pick up a few supplies for some work I'm doing on the house, so since it was a nice day I thought I'd see if it would fit in the Birkin. I had to pick up (5) 10-foot 2 x 4's, some plumbing supplies, a couple 12 x 16 tarps, a couple gallons of paint, and some other small assorted hardware. Well, after removing the passenger headrest and securing the 2 x 4's to the rollbar, everything fit without using the trunk. It's a lot more fun to drive than the truck and gets about 10mpg better than the truck as well. I did get a few strange looks! Here's proof:

Congrats Al, can't wait to see it! -
Very impressive Mike! Looks like he's a little over 80k: http://my.voyager.net/~quadrant19/maintenance.htm

Would only need a Duratec motor to complete: http://www.sevenselans.com/cars_for_sale/caterham_sv_kit8.09/index.htm

I think Healey developed the SR sports racer to run at Le Mans in the late 60's, so probably 1968 or 1969. From what I remember, it wasn't very successful!

All British car show in St.Louis Sept 19th.

Looks like a fun show, thanks for sharing Jerry! Charlie's Eleven is beautiful! -
Looks like a fun time, thanks for sharing Skip! "8. A very unique hemi head V8, can you guess where it came from without looking at the next picture?" - When ever I hear a question like that with a potential foreign slant, I always guess the Daimler SP250. From all the road tests I've read it was a sweet running motor looking for some new clothes. Some people thought the SP250 looked like a carp and I guess I would agree:

:iagree: That's what I thought it was....

A few more shots of a Six, Seven S1, Seven S2, Eleven, and a new one for me, a Lancia D50.

Thought I'd give a quick belated update on the vintage festival. Went up early Saturday morning with just a touch of rain as we got close to LRP. The state police were out in force so it was definitely a relaxed drive. The sun came out and it turned into a nice warm day. Ed L. showed up with his wife and their red Caterham and Dave W. showed up with his Brg/Yellow/Ali Caterham. It was good to see Dave and Ed again, talk about Sevens, and check out all the vintage racecars. The highlight for me was checking out the MB W154 that was just recently restored at Paul Russell, Crosthwaite & Gardner, and others, and was on it's way to the Collier Museum in Florida. I believe this was the first time it was run on track in 70 years, although I think it did some hillclimbs in the meantime. Here's a few pics of Dave during the lunchtime parade lap, Ed's car in the Lotus corral, and myself during the parade lap. Thanks to Nancy for staying in the infield to take the on-track photos. We also took some photos of the W154 on track. The sound from that car was amazing! :hurray: Sorry we weren't able to find Ed and his wife in the crowd....we tried! I was hoping he'd take his Caterham out for the parade lap! All in all it was a fun day!
