  1. This is now the most popular thread on the forum Hey,Croc, can you get some adds on here? OK, I'll play...nicely. So a lot of people don't like DJT. A lot of Republicans don't like DJT. Consider popular past presidents, or political figures over 150 years ago, say, George Washington or Teddy Roosevelt, or anyone on Mount Rushmore, or even the unpopular ones like Grover Cleveland, and many others. All we know about them is what was recorded in the papers, writings, maybe some folklore. Certainly not the vast muntia of personal details that are routinely, ruthlessly and irresponsibly exposed on today's mass media. I propose that any of the greatest men in past, if were subject to today's scrutiny wouldn't just have mud on their walls, but mudslides. It is also very possible that many of the most least popular men, political and performance failures, if throughly scrutinized, would be found to be very morally respectable men. I understand Jimmy Carter was such a man. We alll know about that presidency record. But what do people know about Jimmy Carter, the person? It all just shows that the job of the presidency and the climb to the top isn't for everyone. It takes a personality, a skill set, and a team to get there and do well in that office. Unfortunately, the nice guys don't seem to do very well. Its very alarming to those who think about it, and to people all over the world, that the leader of the most powerful economic power house and commander of the most formidable and advanced intel, military, and possibly reverse-engineered ET technology(1), Is someone most people choose based on what they see on TV. (1) The jury is still out on that one, but I believe the Gov't likes to tease it up.
  2. Or they just want you to hear them talk... Regardless, this is a really commendable event intended to communicate with the Caterham 7 owner base. The Webinar, a Zoom meeting people can watch on the internet, will have a Q&A. The registration page has three lines for question submissions to ask the senior CC mucky-mucks. Like, will you allow Arch to produce low volume parts to individuals that CC isn't interested in supporting? Or, will CC please support the live axles? Or, When will CC learn its lesson to not dump money into dumb projects that don't produce anything profitable? (21..Beautiful car) The event will take place Feb 22 at 13:30 US & Can Central I believe it is limited to Cat&Lotus7 club members. https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_zYpC9yV1SGipnhY8jCK29w
  3. yes, many choices.
  4. We don't get to see this often
  5. Thanks, Bill. I have the PAX side tractor battery tray. I will be doing some modifications that eliminate the room for a battery there such as an extended footwell and dry sump tank on the end of that. With the batteries getting smaller, lighter, and available in various shapes, I hope to find one to fit in some of the available boot space in a Imperial LC live axle 7. The scuttle shelf is always an option but Im trying to keep it clear for fluid tanks, etc.
  6. This wing stay has been caped on the end and painted. Put a magnet on that end cap.. is it plastic? probably. Whoever did the paint probably filled and sealed the holes, if the holes were there. And it was black. Bball"s 98 wing stay is tubular so it has a flat tab welded on. the BDR is square, like mine. It is drilled for a bolt. Standard 7 equipment up to the 90s.
  7. Oh, boy. Barnes & Noble in my area hasn't carried this magazine for years. I don't know where else to look in Houston. The days of large periodical sections in book or electronic stores, or grocery stores are gone. Any help?
  8. Rear hump panel very standard. Front of tunnel changed wirh the different shifter extensions used.
  9. I agree to not group Caterham in with "other 7 replicas". I suspect users may have suggested (complained) that they don't want to see other replica brands if they are focused on a Caterham, or Lotus likewise. There are alerts available for Westfield, but not Birkin, Rotus, Dax Rush, stalker, or Robin Hood.
  10. Get yours today!
  11. Life's too short to drive boring cars. Honestly, I understand if you got play money, it's your money. But there are plenty of good running 7s that come up for sale for half the price. You don't have to be seven-less.
  12. You can't strap a baby seat to the rollbar?
  13. if you were shipping by weight, you could have had two
  14. In my search for the perfect expansion tank, or bottle, or header tank, I have found this one that has been used by Lotus on Rover K engined G1 Elise and Exige and by Caterham on various 7 around 2015. Lotus part number A111K6004F. Uses cap A111K6001F and bracket C111K0003F. Rover 600. Available from Lotus and Rimmer Bros. If the Loti becomes unobtanium, there is a close second, the Rover 25 tank, PCF010086 (thanks, Roadsport06)
  15. Jim, Look at these offerings. I would call Rimmer to ensure compatibility These are Dolomite but be advised the "Sprint" parts don't cross over. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID008479 Since there is a reconditioned diff with a Quaife installed, If you ask, they might build you a 4.1 with a Quaife TBD installed. Having this done professionally is worth the expense. There is a January 16.67% sale at Rimmer on orders over 100 BPS
  16. Here is mandatory reading on the Ital. Which you may find you actually have a Marina by the hub key size. Although Cat always claimed they were Itals. 2017_11_04_Ital-1.pdf 1993_03_05_Ital.pdf
  17. the Ital axle is capable of handling power under 200hp without a brace. Nobody has broken an Ital with 100hp. Half shafts walking out from curbing and latteral hammering from worn A frame bushes, yes. But not from any 1600 OHV Kent engine. All the Itals supplied by Cat with the Xflows were 3.64. They thougt it to be a happy medium between performance and road cruising. Its the ratio I have on my 100hp Xflow and I find it adequate. Build up the Ital, consider removing the brace to reduce the weight, and hunt for a 4.10. There is a Quaife torque biasing diff, QDF8K, or Black Line HLF070 (china copy) to upgrade. Also, Jack Webb only needs five orders to turn out a run of upgrades for the Ital. https://jackwebbmotorsport.co.uk/Marina-Axle-Upgrade-p442913283 Im on board. Did you know... The Escort axle is 33 lbs heavier than the Ital!
  18. MV, The way I read it, its the 10 that is a shambles. The Ital was obtained as a replacement but Jim is thinking the Ital gearing is too tall. He wants to replace the 10's case with the Ital's. I think that's the idea. Agreed, with a short cockpit, an Escort axle would have the best spares and aftermarket support.
  19. There were/ are 4.10 gears for the Ital. I had a chance to buy one. Perhaps you could go that route. Parts for 10s getting scarce. Some machine shops could turn out shafts $$$...
  20. Im not going to say never, But I've done a lot of reading on the Ital/Marina axles, swap options, etc. I have never read that the Std 10 has any compatibility with the latter Morris axle although they may share some parts, etc. Here is one example where the poster didn't mention the Std 10 among the cars that interchange with the Ital/Marina: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=911662 At any rate, I believe the Ital is wider than the 10, closer to the Escort width. You could probably get a lot of Standard info on a club site https://www.standardmotorclub.org.uk/standard8-10
  21. I am considering moving the battery to the basket in a 90s Live axle S3. Looking for ideas. Can we have some pictures of batteries in the boot? Battery type is still to be determined.
  22. Will you be able to watch it while driving?
  23. Did you get the 3ft or 8ft cable?
