Definitely want to flush out old coolant, run a few changes of water through until all is out. Some OAT coolants can attack the rubber gaskets. An OEM reccomend coolant will be compatible with the materials and sealants. If you are ever unsure about mixing, just don't. Two different formulas can create sludge and clog your whole system. See "Dex-Cool sludge". There is a European blue formula that is glycol based, I believe. It may be worth considering.

Torch over the painting surfaces to burn off any oily residues before paint. Things are only original once. Paint what you like. I'm partial to a fire engine red..transmission, nobody will see it. A light grey to see leaks easily is practical. I've been considering painting my lump a Lycoming grey. No tractor colors please.

There have been many examples of 7 skins eroding at the frame rails. It took several decades. Im not going to insist thst any of us will see our Cats falling apart during our ownerships, but these things are just good practices whenever aluminum is attached to steel and a current is introduced. These cars tend to sit for months, years. Just disconnect the battery for storage. Especially for the coolant and pump. Aluminum pumps can corrode because the coolant is a conductor.
