  1. Check your exhaust heat shroud. That should hang slightly lower than other parts on your car. I've found the head shields scrape first. Is it possible to alter an ebay shroud? Just attach the top and maybe the bottom while leaving the sides cut out for the supercharger? Should get you some coverage for the rocks?
  2. Parts will be impacted. I'm curious to where production will shift. I see Nissan, Honda, Toyota etc all shifting production from Mexico to elsewhere in the world for cheaper margins due to lower labor costs as they will have to pay the tariffs regardless. In terms of lifting up NA/LATAM, I think this business plan missed the mark.
  3. WOOOHOOO!!! Big win. Overall thoughts? Throw the roof in the trunk in case you need it, and just drive the dang thing.
  4. Those wildwood brakes are not cheap. Lot of premium parts here for a person to get a new vehicle. @NSXguy is this your new track build? I'm in NJ and can come down to help out for a weekend day moving if we all want to get together and help.
  5. @Vovchandr excellent parallel to moto riders. Lot of guys more interested in the look of the bike and being seen vs the practicality etc of it. (As I dump my GS in Gavins driveway). @Gordy if you're serious, we can chat needs floors and quarter panels, plus full mechanical refresh. Engine and trans are the same as in an early 7, and a live axle setup which is very similar to a 7.
  6. Ooooh exciting!!
  7. I hate to be this guy. Two things: @Vovchandr is right. And: Given the scope creep, you're better off with a running MGB with some rust. Why do I say this? Everything vovchandr has mentioned. I know the hubris of being an 18 year old will spur you to go out and think you can do it. You can, but you'll be 28 and so sick of the car that you will hate it. There are a few locost builds out there that I follow on IG. Some are done by serious professional fabricators and even they suffer from burnout. If you want a project car, I've got a 69 cortina GT with matching numbers that I'd let go to a good home for someone with your welding skills.
  8. These cars are upwards of 60-120k. Meanwhile you can buy a mark 2 Lotus cortina for 25k. Tbh I should just do that.
  9. Barber museum is a must have for anyone who rides bikes. I was able to do some corporate event work there over the past few years and the team is nothing but superlative + were very gracious with their VIP treatment. They do have a few lotuses, and some cosworth engines on display. A really fantastic museum in FL is the Tampa auto museum. Their big talbot race cars sparked a BIG want in me when I win the lottery.
  10. Will be fine. My driveway has a significant hump. Exhaust shroud scrapes before sump so you have a feeler.
  11. My 13's have uniroyal rain tires. Car has never had an issue in deep rain. They're 185 / 70 / r13s. Don't worry about ground clearance unless you're running a Kent. 90% of the time you'll be fine unless very steep high center situations. Then you just crab walk. Don't overthink it. These cars are made to be driven.
  12. They have the A arm in the back too. Basically they took the early live axle with the A arm and threw it in the back. I've got a 69 so slightly more refined driving experience and interior. Engine is formula ford spec, cams, 1600cc and 4 way disk brakes. Big deal for back then.
  13. I am looking at a rust free 2 door GT shell out in cali to transplant my GT running gear into and I just do not have the space to do it. It hurts big time after seeing that MK1.
  14. Did you ever find the source of your disappearing coolant?
  15. I just missed you. Rolled in right as they were starting the cars. Dang. Also the lotus cortina will always be a big favorite.
  16. Upgradea: LED lights (or bulbs if you're cheap like me. Third high headlight because people don't see you. Try and ship it with the full hood on. Mine had the tonneau and water got in behind the seats.
  17. Regarding DRLs. My headlight switch has a mid setting which is headlights and taillights. I use it as a drl. As John has mentioned, you will need to run a switch, with a relay on a separate 12v power circuit. They're pretty bare bones cars, so any asks like this will always be a bit of a tweak and test mentality.
  18. Very good news! Mine went out on my K series after a year or so of owning it.. Figured it was better to just plumb in a mechanical gauge. That way if its not showing any pressure I know i'm screwed. Also it goes down a lot on right hand corners.
  19. I agree with this. Especially for higher compression engines. In reality though, it's a ford engine, so if it's filled up, send it?
  20. What ECU are you running? Revilla on the UK forums did a few schematics a while back with the wiring and parts numbers. I'll try to find it. I may have uploaded it into the documents. Great follow so far. Might be worth migrating to a build thread.
  21. I'd be into a backup K-series motor but shipping this thing and sending it over here would be a big challenge. I'm with @wdb, aint worth it unless its super cheap.
  22. But is a 30 year old porsche 911 a good daily? I almost had a heart attack for the PDK service on the macan. The labor does not pencil out in the long run for the car unless you do it yourself?
  23. Agreed. Your late 80s / early 90s range rover makes a ton of sense. Simple V8, solid chassis engineering with basic computers. We are over engineering everything nowadays.
  24. My parents had stupid luck with ford focuses: 2004: roached at 280k miles and 16 years old 2001: roached at 168k miles and 19 years old 2010: roached out at 270k and 10 years old 2017: still going minty at 100k miles. None of these cars quit mechanically. New England salt rot got to them first, or smoking roached out the interior. The focuses never left us stranded and only required routine maintenance: oil changes and brakes. Bearings / bushings were done each 100k. I'd go with something pre-crazy electronics. Nothing german, they're too complex.
  25. Ahh, sorry for posting late to this. Emerald has an adaptor for the Kent. This allows you to run a crank position sensor to time injector pulses, then run an electronic ignition. https://www.emeraldm3d.com/ford-crossflow-36-1-trigger-wheel-kit.html I'm looking to do this on my cortina. The emerald has been pretty easy for my doo doo monkey brain to figure out.
