Agreed with the majority above: 1. I take hood off when people at the show show interest in the car. You tell them the car is super light, then ask them to hold the hood. Then they get it. Their face is worth it. 2. Its thin aluminum, looking at it funny will bump it. Hammers or PDR kit will pull dents out. These cars arent worth a lot of money, if it doesnt have a few bumps, i'm not driving it enough. Since you're close ish, I can lend you my PDR kit. 3. Life is short, things are passing. Kids are the future, let them sit. I just dont want them getting burned. Car show pics someone took. Cars & Crumpets - May 26, 2024 - Photo Album it was fun edit; you got me with burned first

If i had the money to drop: meteor motorsport. I think westermann does a kit as well. Might be worth emailing either to see if they can do a raised spring height kit.

Dang, sorry to hear this. Want me to call your boss and tell him you need less travel time?

What have I done? Two N00bs Try to Resurrect a 7

Since its a euro zetec, might be worth looking into the Emerald. I have one. Most tuners here don't know how to use it. It is however super easy to use. Interface is simple and handles a lot of varied euro engines. Base maps are decent. Will definitely need to ride around with a laptop, but not unreasonable to learn and tune. -
Did this when I redid my rear end a few years ago. Use the lock washer and the washer.

No info on my 7, can you help?

Underrated comment. I salute you. I agree with nsx guy. Ecu isn't setup properly and looking through your photos, it my make sense to redo the entire wiring harness and take your time going through it. -
@Croc need more on that bookkeeping job. How is inventory treated? @Vovchandr has a job? I thought he volunteered at blipshift to raise their click through rates. @Reiver glad you're enjoying it. Soon you'll be spending so little time in the 911 it will be time to let it move on. 7 > 911. I need to rebuild my shed. Zoning allows a 10 x 20 maximum footprint... I can definitely fit more cars in that right?
-
We believe in you. Do it. I won't tell your family. Do it for them. Doooooo it. @Vovchandr supports me spending your money.

Might be time for a sacrificial aluminum whisker somewhere, rather have a 3 inch strip of aluminum scrape vs the sump.
-
Great choices. How is the zenos?

There aren't many cars that compete at 70k. Porsches are a dime a dozen. Good cars but zero emotion for me. Rules out 911 and cayman etc. Newer car? Probably an elise/exige. Miata? Ultima Evo? Maybe an old mustang? They've always been on the list. I think 1930s-1950s European cars will fall a bit in the future, perhaps there's something exciting there. -

I was humoring a new build. $70 and up. -
Check your exhaust heat shroud. That should hang slightly lower than other parts on your car. I've found the head shields scrape first. Is it possible to alter an ebay shroud? Just attach the top and maybe the bottom while leaving the sides cut out for the supercharger? Should get you some coverage for the rocks?

Parts will be impacted. I'm curious to where production will shift. I see Nissan, Honda, Toyota etc all shifting production from Mexico to elsewhere in the world for cheaper margins due to lower labor costs as they will have to pay the tariffs regardless. In terms of lifting up NA/LATAM, I think this business plan missed the mark.
-
WOOOHOOO!!! Big win. Overall thoughts? Throw the roof in the trunk in case you need it, and just drive the dang thing.
-
Those wildwood brakes are not cheap. Lot of premium parts here for a person to get a new vehicle. @NSXguy is this your new track build? I'm in NJ and can come down to help out for a weekend day moving if we all want to get together and help.

New Member: looking to build a 7 series 2 from scratch
slowdude replied to Gordy's topic in General Sevens Discussion
@Vovchandr excellent parallel to moto riders. Lot of guys more interested in the look of the bike and being seen vs the practicality etc of it. (As I dump my GS in Gavins driveway). @Gordy if you're serious, we can chat needs floors and quarter panels, plus full mechanical refresh. Engine and trans are the same as in an early 7, and a live axle setup which is very similar to a 7. -
Ooooh exciting!!

I hate to be this guy. Two things: @Vovchandr is right. And: Given the scope creep, you're better off with a running MGB with some rust. Why do I say this? Everything vovchandr has mentioned. I know the hubris of being an 18 year old will spur you to go out and think you can do it. You can, but you'll be 28 and so sick of the car that you will hate it. There are a few locost builds out there that I follow on IG. Some are done by serious professional fabricators and even they suffer from burnout. If you want a project car, I've got a 69 cortina GT with matching numbers that I'd let go to a good home for someone with your welding skills. -
These cars are upwards of 60-120k. Meanwhile you can buy a mark 2 Lotus cortina for 25k. Tbh I should just do that.

Barber museum is a must have for anyone who rides bikes. I was able to do some corporate event work there over the past few years and the team is nothing but superlative + were very gracious with their VIP treatment. They do have a few lotuses, and some cosworth engines on display. A really fantastic museum in FL is the Tampa auto museum. Their big talbot race cars sparked a BIG want in me when I win the lottery.

Will be fine. My driveway has a significant hump. Exhaust shroud scrapes before sump so you have a feeler.

My 13's have uniroyal rain tires. Car has never had an issue in deep rain. They're 185 / 70 / r13s. Don't worry about ground clearance unless you're running a Kent. 90% of the time you'll be fine unless very steep high center situations. Then you just crab walk. Don't overthink it. These cars are made to be driven.
