Need Advice on Selling my Seven
slowdude replied to Randy Flowers's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Josh is a great dude. If it's any consolation, the HPC listed in the forums has had 3x people reach out asking for it. I know it is a completely different vehicle BUT the demand is optimistic! Good luck my dude! -
Need Advice on Selling my Seven
slowdude replied to Randy Flowers's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Yeeeep. Could potentially described the slow down in ads of: 1. People not wanting to deal with selling a vehicle during the holiday period as buyers are more distracted with holidays? 2. Anecdotal thoughts of "market being slow bc it's cold"? I just can't bite into the "market drops off, sell in spring mentality". It only works for budget conscious buyers on lower/mid value purchases. These vehicles are super niche, they're not your average porker. Edit: December is always a strong sales month, plus a lot of Harley's seasonality (I hate that word), is in Q4.. -

THANK YOU. They're not normal vehicles, so anecdotal BS about selling seasons isn't appropriate. Look at the 3x 7's on BaT right now with high bids. Thats not a seasonal selling vehicle. -
Looking for well sorted LHD Caterham or equivalent

That triangle of club, thompson and palmer is a great geographic location. Plus you've got route 49 going from westerly up through voluntown. Sounds like 7 driving heaven. I really want to go to these. Just have to live with not being near a dang thing. -
Insurance quandary...title vs reality
slowdude replied to Reiver's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Echoing @CBuff, Hagerty agreed upon value is the way to go. It also helps if you have done any modifications etc. Big peace of mind. You don't have to worry about title / registering. I'm unclear on your hesitation. Are you concerned with re-sale on the title? You have a registration for a that specific 17 digit vin, and the insurance is for that specific vin number. -

Would like some advice about selling a Caterham
slowdude replied to Saudio's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Quick comment on the seasonality of the convertible car market: 1. This only works on cash conscious buyers, the "stretch" purchase. 2. Most of the time, people with big money will buy when they want / are ready; they don't care about timing. 3. Selling in fall only applies to anecdotal experience living in the snowbelt. Your So-Cal, TX, and FL markets are still strong in the fall; there is a lot of money in those area's as well, see my above two points. I disagree with everyone's above statements about your car not moving. I've analyzed market seasonality for many years as profession, and the data is always counter to the anecdotal evidence. It applies if you are selling a generic $5,000 MGB; but once you get above $40,000, you're in a different league. Buyer's exist for these vehicles outside of the normal seasons. As long as you are priced right, you'll sell. I think you're going to have the same chance of selling this car year-round, due to the above reasons, but also due to the fact that it is a niche model within a niche model. Good luck my dude and I hope you have taken that beast on VIR. -

Reading this, its glad you know exactly what you want. A lot of people come and go from the forum, I think because they don't know what they want, or the buy something and its not quite what they want. It looks like you will have to do an SV Chassis if you are looking for some space at your sizing. I think the exact car you're looking for is something that an owner will have upgraded after several years (nitrons, 200+ bhp), and will probably be harder to come by from selling. You might be better served buying a good base, and upgrading accordingly. A 360 or 420 SV chassis may be a good starting point, then upgrading to meteor suspension + throttle bodies (and ECU) should get you to the power you're looking for. I know youre not interested in RHD, but theyre not as difficult to deal with as they would be on a larger vehicle (ex: Defender), where you have to constantly reach over 5 feet etc. Good luck on your search! -
Cheapy oil office heater from a yardsale in the neighboring wealthy town for $10. Keeps the edge off the cold in the garage to work with a jacket on. Not great but a cheaper solution to colder weather.

Buy membership here. Post for 3-6 months here on speciality site. If no luck here revisit your price or post on Bring a Trailer. BaT has a long line of cars in front of you to be listed, so I'd hedge bets and post here while you wait for the queue at BaT. -
Got close to 2500 on this year. Down from last but getting close to 50k miles on this thing for being 28 years old.

'Tis the (upgrade) season! What are you doing?

Half a day of track time and 6k miles of road use. Half "spirited" road driving and Half commuting. -

Agreed. Pads I pulled off last year were at 48k miles and had plenty of meat. They must have been from 07 or so. The ebc green stuff i have is wearing surprisingly quick -

I have a list of k maps from Dave. Did he give you a base map to start tuning with? Dave walker can remote in to help as well. I've been going through mine a lot lately so holler If you have questions. To do list: -finish wiring up Wideband O2 -flash emerald ecu to use obd output for AEM digital gauge -leakdown & compression test to find out where my coolant is going (it's not in the tank and it's not in the oil) -intake manifold gasket (I think i didn't put enough liquid gasket around the cooling holes and I'm losing coolant there) -replace injectors (theyre 16 years old) -hound magnecor for my leads -dynotune -generalized anxious rabbit holing when I cant figure out my random misfire after 25 minutes of driving. -
Save the Date - USA7s at NJMP Drivers Club - June 13/14, 2025
slowdude replied to Croc's topic in National Events
Early June tends to be a little cooler. 60s to mid 70s. Usually a little wet that time of year too. I wouldn't worry about humidity and the track has nighttime security. I slept in my car last time with zero issues. -

Calendar is set! Now to find a dyno! -
7s are hodge podges of vehicles. The K series has been out of production for 15 years and I can go buy a new block. OEMs keep parts for 10 years or so. I'd expect them to have planned further out given the EV transition instability. The vehicles are thankfully very simple. Very few caterham produced exclusive parts. Theyre parts bin vehicles. Uprights have been made for how long? 50 years? Only caterham specific items I can think of are A arm, wishbones, ARB, de dion and steering. Sets us up to be in a good place. I'd be worried about how many race tracks will be open in 20 years.

Paging @Outbound, I think he's the most qualified around to give advice. Check out his post a few threads down about his road trip from the port. Devolved into a good LED discussion.

1993 Caterham Super Seven HPC Evolution - SOLD!
slowdude replied to Stang70Fastback's topic in Cars For Sale
Absolutely. Was deep into the W650 at the time. Couldn't justify it based on a lack of an IMU + I'd need to do a new seat ($400) and new suspension (+$2,500). The upgradeitis is real on bikes. I don't want to do the math on my GSA. 😬 -

As a rider of 15+ years, please get a bike with ABS. I don't care if it's a honda, kawi, ktm etc. If you have a family and are a new rider, airbag jacket + ABS are absolute bare minimum. If you thought you were invisible in a 7, the bike is 2x worse. Ride safe, train consistently, and realize that skimping on a bike or gear will have payoffs later. Japanese bikes are excellent reliability, but you'll need another 4k to make it a good bike. </rant> -
