  1. Definitely 1 - keep a fire extinguisher handy 2 - more than a hint of a gasoline smell means stop and look for a fuel leak, especially when you have been playing with the fuel system. 3 - a drip tray lets you quickly remove gasoline from under the car 4 - it is better to be lucky than good 5 - air conditioning makes many jobs easier and some possible 6 - if you quickly clean up sweat from polished aluminum it stays presentable No fire, just a 1/2 cup of gasoline in the tray and a bit of sizzle on the exhaust. I replaced a hose and tightened the hose clamp down tight and all was well. The gas let me clean the tray of its accumulated drippings.
  2. So how about a fresh picture of your beast?
  3. I thought it was inspirational given the small work space and that his expensive tool was a small air compressor. A triumph of thought & passion.
  4. Argentina Se7en restoration interesting details and technique

Chris Carrier & Hector Moralez - Lotus Seven from the "LOTUS S7VEN" ALBUM on Apollonia Music - techno beat - odd
  6. A wonderful gathering. Great work keeping everything running.
  7. I've used both the dual o-ring and single o-ring versions. The single does save a little bit of space. A major point of the o-ring seems to be anti-vibration when paired with correctly compressed thackery washers.
  8. The roadster bodies look great when in period paint & stickers.
  9. I heard a count of 161 cars at the car show with 2 or 3 that didn't make due to mechanical failures of car, driver or alarm clock. There was a surprisingly good turnout of M100's (11 by my count) and a surprisingly poor turnout of of Se7ens although there were 3 very good early cars a bunch. Besides Lotus there were a few Caterhams and one lone Birkin. See Tony V. site which is hosting quite a few pictures http://www.lotusowners.com/2013Meetings/LOG33/Set1/index.htm
  10. Thanks. If my back holds up I will be replacing all the ignition except the cap & wires this weekend.
  11. I know of 2, both with Lotus series 2 cars. One in PA who actively drives hers an another in MA who doesn't. Both women were at LOG 33, only one brought a car.
  12. The PALS group is planning on attending.
  13. That setup in a Se7en could be a load a fun.
  14. My understanding is that there will not be a track event although I would check with the organizer and not take my word for it. At the Lotus Ltd membership meeting at LOG 33 there was mention that only 7 Lotus people attended any of the 3 day track event at Watkins Glenn. This is in contrast to 110 people who attended the laps & lunch. Part of the low turnout was due to the Porsche club rules (it was their event, they opened it up to Lotus Ltd members) prohibit open wheel cars and they consider a Se7en as open wheel. Supposedly at the last few LOGs the number of people who attend driver education days is down to about 20 people. There was speculation that there are now many track events that are cheaper than those that can be associated with a LOG. There was also discussion of having stand alone driver education events (that phrase again). Barber was mentioned. It was also pointed out that they have a wet skidpad that is a great asset for learning handling at the limit. I also heard that the rental fee for Watkins Glenn is $15,000 per day which is the going rate for big name tracks. COTA is currently commanding $55,000 per day.
  15. More pictures!
  16. Drove the coast road from Seattle to LA in our Lotus M100 in 2011. It is much better than I-5 although it has been sanitized quite a bit in since I drove it back in the late 70's. For any road trip I suggest that you join http://www.lotuscarclub.org/ Lotus Ltd. The members roster contains a geographical list of people who are willing to help out a fellow member. Although it focuses on Lotus it is open to all forms of Se7ens.

  18. Good turnout in general but a bit light on the Se7ens. Notable were 4 very good early Lotus cars in the original style, one vintage Lotus in race trim. Every Se7en was nice it its own way. Only one not-Lotus, non-Caterham which was a disappointment to me.
  19. I thought this would be about the rumored 600cc turbo Cat
  20. It reminds me of the song lyrics "his horn went beep beep beep"
  21. I think the pudding head helmets are pretty cool. I occasionally use a full face helmet when driving the 7, usually to ward of the cold.
  22. Nice looking car. I hope it goes to someone who truly appreciates it.
  23. I would certainly want to to hear about the originality of a car and possible clones before I plunk down my $$$.
  24. Thanks. I won't be doing much checking for a bit. Pushing the car to the side of the road did my back in.
