  1. I'd grab it if it had clamshells.... ;-)
  2. Sorry I can't link to the article with my not-so-smart phone. The registration is in limbo til someone gets off their butt...not bikes and not cars (no airbags, fancy bumpers, etc)...so for the time being they cannot be registered there.
  3. Interesting article in the New York Times. According to the article there is a bit of a cockup with lisencing in Texas. Seems their beurocrats have backtracked on calling it a motorcycle, now say it can't be a bike when you sit in a seat instead of straddling a backbone.
  4. Have any build pics posted anywhere? It's always nice to see someone else suffer!
  5. Welders glue??? That's a new one to me.... Have any other description?
  6. Perhaps.....was yellow but no mention of Birkin that I saw. Was listed as a 2009 Lotus 7.
  7. Sleeping next to the elephant that the US market is, as different as the regulatIons are between our countries, not to mention the varying agendas of the regulators on both sides, sometimes we are left on the outside looking in when trying to import some products. It is not uncommon for an overseas manufacturer to have a North American exclusive with a US agent. However, now we have conflicting import regs, often the double duties making the cost more than reasonable. The manufacturer won't sell direct into Canada as he has his exclusive North American agent. The product can come into Canada duty-free if imported directly but coming through the US agent he has his markup and import costs to put it in his hands, plus naturally wants to add more to ship into Canada, plus the added complications of different import regs. I can tell you from personal experience that you throw up your hands in disgust. Will continue MY rant later....
  8. Don't be so hard on yourself Croc, not your fault some see a lesson in the facts of life of dealing with government...big or small...as a rant. I actually thought you were quite reserved in your comments. You may have poked a sharp stick in a few eyes but only the guys who hate being called the gougers they are! I am somewhat surprised that someone so worldly, and seemingly well connected, can still get stung in overseas transactions. What chance do us little guys have? Or is that how the nameless importers you mentioned are able to rationalize their gouging to theIr customers? For the record we have similar or worse problems shipping into Canada....sometimes. I am not sure if I am more shocked when it works or when the simplest deals go awry. Have personally seen the papertrail almost never-ending on one transaction, and 6 months later see it fly through with the border guys accusing me of trying to bury them in paper and watch them dump it into the shredder beside them, stamp mine and point me to door.
  9. Thanks Croc. Seems you missed what looks like a good one at Wire Wheel. Listed as a 2009 Lotus 7, Duratec, 5300 miles, orig price $48000, selling for $24900. Somebody's gonna get a deal? Sorry I can't offer a link, can only do so much with this almost smart phone...then again it could be the inept operator!
  10. And the insanity is intensified by the fact I am guessing a good number here have more than 1 iron in the fire, multiple projects/interests that all steal time. Add in family (in most cases?) and spare time becomes a luxury.... Yup, we're all certifiable!
  11. I thought crazy was a prerequisite for posting on this forum? All you have to do is look at what we on here consider to be cars! Any sane person would run from the lack of creature comforts and any semblance of practicality.....
  12. That's a pretty lame excuse Croc, letting work get in the way of our Saturday morning is unacceptable. Not sure how you'll survive Thanksgiving....do they have Black Friday sales there? Football games? Or will you be too busy with sea turtle races? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you probably earned the relaxation. Enjoy yourself!
  13. Croc Not sure if it sparked association or imagination... getting older sucks, esp when the memory isn't what it used to be. Still...counting birthdays sure beats the alternatives!
  14. xcarguy Though I didn't see any mention of it when I did the same Google search I would have sworn the article I mentioned showed the Dolphin America being built by Elfin. Will check but doubt I can put my hand on the article. Sports Car Graphic? Popular Mechanics?
  15. Slightly off topic but Croc's Elfin links caused a power surge in my memory banks.... I seem to recall seeing an article in the mid 60s introducing a new mid-engined sports racer from Elfin called a Dolphin. My memory says it was 4 cyl powered, tube framed. I didn't see any mention of it in Croc's links. Anyone else recall seeing/hearing about it?
  16. What....no pic of the wreck??? How are the blood thirsty on here gonna get their fix?
  17. I think I had a blonde moment.... My/our 2013 Dodge Dart has the thin v shaped seal over the doors. It actually has 2 sealing lips, about 3/4" wide, would easily flatten to 1/8" thick, looks like it was adhesive backed. Sounds like just what the doctor ordered.
  18. I can't suggest where to find it other than a dealership but I have seen newer cars with a v-shaped thin rubber strip as a secondary seal above doors....seems to some sort of self adhesive attached.
  19. Good morning Croc. I figured there had to be a reason for your absence yesterday. Glad to hear you had fun. Winter is fast approaching here in eastern Ontario so local track days are done til spring. Luckily I can live vicariously through my sons and their pursuits to get through the long winter ahead.... Travis sent lots of pcs from the SEMA show last week, is spectating at the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational this weekend, complaining how it sucks compared to competing 2 years ago and finishing 5th overall and 3rd in 2 parts of the event. With no Speed coverage, and no Mav tv available here in Canada, there is no commercial value for a Canadian competitor or sponsor. He will arrive home in time to say goodbye to his brother Trevor as he heads to Vegas to tune karts at the Supernats. I think they may race karts at Daytona over the Christmas holiday on their way to Miami/Homestead for the 24 hr Chumpcar event over New Year. I'll stay home and plow snow....:-(
  20. Just as well... Having just bought a new road car this week all I could do would be drool over good deals anyway! But she-who-must-be-obeyed is smiling so life is good, at least for a little while!
  21. xcarguy... Guess that coffee is cold by now, and your buddy's leg is cramping badly from all that toe tapping. Cute emoticon btw.
  22. Is that like "it must be noon somewhere?" I didn't think Croc slept...most of his posts are in the not-so-wee hours, esp for this topic. Or does he post from Europe?
  23. Hey Croc...you're late! Where is my Saturday morning read????
  24. Time to buy a tape measure... I have hauled a 7 in a 14' enclosed trailer, had 3' behind to carry a power wheelchair and sundry other items. I would be surprised if your csr was 11' long.
  25. Are you going to be at/represented at SEMA?
