How many Se7ens could we get to Lime Rock Vintage Show?
Boxologist replied to Al N.'s topic in General Sevens Discussion
car should be back in tip top order by then, so count me in tenatively. -
my speedometer failed on saturday. I checked out the unit, the wiring and it all seems intact. the odometer portion still shows digits, but is no longer being increased. for the next 10 miles after the speedometer failed, it would occasionaly jump to 25-30mph and fall to zero. another 2/10 of a mile were added to the odometer in such a fashion. can anyone whose speedometer also failed tell me what the symptoms, causes, and fixes were to their setups.

and u should be saving the windscreen and mirror if u really get going because i'd be swapping those at every event.
-
r400 and 500 got the staggered rim iirc. 6" wide, 205width up front and 8" 235+ in the back to get traction. seriously, hold off till ur sure u want to get competitive in motorsports. when u finally drive ORange in anger, then make the determination.

damn it, 8/19 is a points event locally. if it gets cancelled i may be able to come down. not that i would enjoy running in a section thats knows to put me in D Mod, but at least there will be other people in DM. i was going to try to coincide the Mt washington trip on the weekend of wicked big meet 08. i would have a date set until late next winter.

anyone interested in climbing Mt washington in New Hampshire next year?

"AL'S PARTS BONANZA" PART 1 HAS ENDED
Boxologist replied to Al N.'s topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
tom, get the mirrorsforsevens unit if u have a full windhield. -
i think i have a local SCCA points event that weekend. can u move this post to northeast. i thought i started it there:confused:
-
anyone have any ideas? i know there was some mention of Lime Rock, Tom keeps going on about a new AutoX site in NJ? what else do people want to do?
-
and i just bought 2 mounting brackets for the odessey 680 batteries. those batteries are expensive, and with out some more empirical data from more users, i'm a little skeptical.
-
i have the book sitting in front of me at work right now. just picked it up at costco. debating whether i should go outside and find out why my speedometer just stopped working an hour ago or read the book...

Who has the highest mileage Seven?
Boxologist replied to soareyes's topic in General Sevens Discussion
about ~7500 miles now. picked it up 12 months ago with 759. -

So, tell us a little about yourselves
Boxologist replied to slngsht's topic in General Sevens Discussion
i was able to get into a local autoXer's new Exige. barely get into. much easier getting in and out of a se7en IMO. with a fixed steering wheel. -
i had issues with my front driver's side repeater. turned out the bulb needed to be seated more firmly. other than that, i consider myself sort of lucky. though i do get some wild movement in the oil pressure and coolant temperature gauges. i beleive its the drive belt slipping on the pumps. edit: mine has seen plenty weather, and has withstood it.

u'd want a full trailer or even wheel dollies. ask if thye seller thinks its ready to handle a 500 mile trip. thats ur answer right there. if it can't handle woutine driving, it won't really last at autoX let alone a track day. sucks that its titles as a 2003. i was hoping that with the Lotus plate he was going for historal or at least a 30+ year old build date. pack 3 days woth of clothes and amenities just in case. thats a small bag. u'll need the jack, metic and possibly sized tools. ask the builder what he used. water (bottles). if its close to what its described as, grab it and run. take a drive, get dropped off some place, think it over for an hour, and then let the owner know.

Post your memories/highlights of 7-7-7 here...
Boxologist replied to Al N.'s topic in General Sevens Discussion
mine was teh trip out on the wayah road loop on saturday. i don't see se7ens around by me. EVER. the only other one was a s3 last year at a charity show. so seeing 50+ made me ecstatic. and just driving, and i mean DRIVING with other se7ens just gave me the warm fuzzies. even if it did start to rain. add to driving the Dragona nd not even knowing it thrursday night and just dreading what it would be like if regular US129 was so curvy, what would the Dragon in NC be like. i had no clue where the dragon was the tail was. that KitCat actually made it down when last knew the breakage at putnam park was going to keep him from attending. actually meeting a whole bunch of people from the forum who i will actually remember beyond my next beer!:hurray: and just being at the autoX, watching adn listening to the DM/EM and formula ford go at it in heat 2. and those mustangs were worth watching as well. major kudos to Al and everyone who made an effort in some form to make the weekend better. Next time with some sort mobile communication. it was like playing telephone when u were a kid as one group of people relayed info to another at different points in the drives. -
let the dust settle from PNW, and then they'll sound off. i defeintely am along the lines of national every other year, or alternate geographic areas so the organizing load gets spread around. also, vacations that require a week or longer need longer time in advance to plan around work and other family obligations. the Dragon was great, but i could wait 4-6 years before a LARGE 7s meet is organized there again. just my take. i thought there was talk of Minnesota or the Dakotas being some nice roads.

Reccomendation on Jacks and Torque Wrenches
Boxologist replied to Al N.'s topic in General Sevens Discussion
costco has a nice jack an aluminium one for $80-90. i have my father 30+ yr old craftsman deflection torque wrench for loads to 100'#, and a craftsman clicky torque wrench for loads up to 150 or 175'#? snap-on may be better for torque wrenches if u know a mechanic. harbor fright is cheap if u on't mind replacing them every few years. i have some high lift, high load craftsman jack stands. awesome with a tall jack when u need to stand using a RLP with stuck bolts and nuts. -
Boxologist (Jon C.) staying in Robbinsville one more night
Boxologist replied to Al N.'s topic in General Sevens Discussion
thanks all! David and I got back fine. the car is in good shape. have an autoX on sunday, and 2 OT shifts before that, so i'll be going over a bunch of stuff right before tech:grouphug: It was an absolute bummer to smack what i originally thought was a piece of wood on Tn28 (~10:30 7/9/07). I made it thru the dragon easily, but hellbender kills the trip home:reddevil: It was about 3 miles out of Fontana and i move the car slightly right to have it pass away from the sump. as soon i pass over it the car jutters and dies. We pulled over, and saw the rear O2 sensor cracke off and the wiring stripped and frayed. we flagged a few TVA trucks, who didn't even have room to take on a third body, Dave stayed with the 7 and I eventually got a ride with a kid who got lost leaving a place his family rented on lake Santeelah (129 south of Tapaco) to get back. he took me to Deal's Gap. Seeing no garage or tow there, we proceded down to Robbinsville. On the way down I see Al and family with Orange in tow finally leaving (11:00). I was dropped off at Microtel and Sue at the counter helped me out immensely with the phone number for some garages and tow operators. i didn't get back to Dave and 7 with a tow for several hours. we got there, the 2 towers gave a good look over the situation, and tried to figure out how to tow a 7, but decided they needed to call one of their son's in with the flatbed. they would have to drive off and call him in as soon as they had cell coverage. to be continued... -
How many rides / drives did you give / receive
Boxologist replied to slngsht's topic in General Sevens Discussion
