I have used Quaife LSDs on quite a few cars over the years including my current Caterham and always found them perfectly acceptable. Once had a Tran-X plate diff on an Escort Mk 1 rally car that would lock and throw you off the road which was very entertaining. Plate diffs need careful setting up especially in a light Seven otherwise they can be harsh whereas the Quaife is much more friendly and progressive. My 2c

Check out Demon Tweeks in the UK. They have quite a few options.

This is simply the breather from the crankcase, nothing else. The best method is to have this connected by a pipe to a catch tank or back into the rocker cover. Many Crossflow cars have a pipe running down the side of the bell housing so it breathes onto the road. Not appropriate really and especially not if you want to use the car on track or pass any smog inspection. If a dry-sumped car, it would generally breathe back into the rocker. For neatness, you can replace the PCV valve (unless CA enforces using it) with a simple alloy union that pushes into the block - http://www.burtonpower.com/parts-by-fitment-type/parts-by-engine-ford/ford-cross-flow-kent/breather-elbow-x-flow-711m-23-5mm-fp280a.html. Does not use the bolt to locate it and provides a nicer look. There may of course be further requirements in CA for a fully closed system, hence the rocker cover option.

Importing from UK & changing a car from RHD to LHD?
The Stig replied to FE07's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Unless the car is at least 25 years old (historic!) forget it. I looked into this when I moved from the UK so sold there and bought here. Really not worth the hassle. I often look at the ads on PH and keep thinking there should be a business opportunity bringing them here! -
Absolutely go with the electric pump. I also have an '85 1700 crossflow and the Facet pump at the tank with regulator close to the carbs is ideal. You will need a blanking plate with an oil baffle (Burton Power in the UK or let me know as I have a spare one). The baffle stops the cam throwing oil into the vent which is directly above. The problems you have may also not be heat related. If the carbs are fixed too firmly and not allowed to flex on the manifold it will cause similar symptoms - the fuel gets stirred up, froths and you need to stop and let it settle (I am sure there is a term for this, just can't remember). Let me know if you need pics or further info.

Happy Holidays everyone. I'll be enjoying some of these over the holiday. 72 bottles should be enough I hope! http://www.usa7s.com/vb/picture.php?albumid=48&pictureid=459

http://www.usa7s.com/vb/picture.php?albumid=48&pictureid=458 My wife and I took out the Seven to play with a D Type last month in NJ. That D Type is one awesome build!

I also have an '85 Live Axle so happy to take a few pictures and email them over. PM me your email address and I'll do it over the weekend. As much as I can I'll get dimensions for you but don't rely on them to have anything made! May also be worth trying a few UK sites for used rollbars as many people switched to the FIA version. Blatchat or Pistonheads sometime has them - http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/parts-and-plates/parts-and-accessories/caterham or Ebay of course. Even if you need to get it Powedercoated, could be the best option.

I used Seven Speed for a boot cover. OK they got it wrong the first time and charged VAT but Carl is at least responsive. BTW, then I never used the boot cover so may put it for sale if anyone interested. Live Axle long cockpit. Fasteners not attached either so pristine condition.

I have come across quite a few women who race and hillclimb them in the UK. Pretty quick too! My wife would like to drive but she has never driven a manual and probably can't reach the pedals! Members of the UK Lotus Seven club would also be aware of the fatal accident that took the life of driver Sandra Harrison-Moore on an event last year. The memorial event actually takes place this weekend.

Actually the easiest 'soft' option would be these - https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/itg-trumpet-sock-large-itg-sox-l

I used ITG on a few cars when in the UK and they were excellent filters. I purchased through Merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe circuit and they have a good selection of ITGs to suit various trumpet lengths on their website. To get the best location for the filters you may need to create your own back plate out of ali. or Carbon if you prefer! https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/m/ITG I posted a pic of an engine with ITGs on this thread - http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=8783

Interesting post. My theory (if you really need another) is overheating combined with/caused by too much advance. Looking back at images of my previous Crossflow - all steel, dry sumped 9000rpm monster I had the heater bypass connected and the builder insisted this was necessary to retain the correct coolant flow. And I never once had an issue with this engine, however hard I drove it. Sorry to hear of any woes on a Crossflow but I still believe they are the best engine - not an opening for debate, just my personal opinion!

I have known people replace with the smaller type alternators. Try a search on here. http://www.blatchat.com/

I looked at this one and also found that chassis number was the subject of a dispute in the UK. Maybe it does not matter, maybe it deflates the value of both cars. Buyers decide I guess.

The Rally Design setup looks pretty good when combined with the hubs and Wilwoods. The exchange rate is good right now so go for it!

Took a while to find one but here is a pic of the front end of my Westfield. http://www.flickr.com/photos/25013566@N06/8590304452/ Link if embedded not working - In summary: > Gold anodised alloy hubs > Very thin discs (not great on the road but this is a hillclimb car) > Track rod ends converted to spherical bearings > Upper wishbone conversion for spherical bearings and twice as much camber adjustment (although your setup gives more plus Caster adjustment and could assist Ackerman adjustment too) > Wilwood alloy calipers > Shocks are Gaz adjustables When considering widetrack, I remember reading there was little value in converting an SE (narrow body) to widetrack as it can upset the balance. My suggestion would be to reduce unsprung weight with this kind of setup and have everything carefully set-up. The difference is found in the setup, not the components. Westfield's generally suffer from bump steer too and I had that removed with some adjustment to the height of the steering rack. Hope that helps.
