This one...we took opportunity of a (slightly) cooler weekend and enjoyed the mountain roads. Otherwise it has been so stupidly hot since July that we did not drive the Seven. Looking forward to Winter, but with El Nino coming that may be screwed up as well. Oh well.

Last real blat was August 23rd up Pikes Peak with 120 or so mostly Lotus cars attending LOG35 in Colorado Springs. We were the first on the mountain that day and were led by Clive Chapman in an Elan. He took off like a bat out of hell. I was further back but it was still fast enough to be a fun run. I don't do well at 14,000' so I didn't stay on top for the photo op. On the road going back down I had no traffic in front of me. :D

There have been a few short local blats since then.

Not quite a blat, but spent two great days at Oregon Raceway Park a month ago. And then broke my right ankle 5 days later and have not been able to drive the Caterham since. Just got out of the rigid boot and into a soft brace, so hoping the weather cooperates enough to get in one last long drive.

Lucky - You remind me when I broke my right foot in August 2014. As some forum members witnessed, I would take off the rigid boot, put on an action sandal and go and tear up laps with the Caterham at NJMP, heel and toeing madly, before coming back into the pits and putting the boot back on. And I wondered why my foot had done an Elephant Man impersonation with its swelling later that day?

How was my last splat? Well, let me see...four broken vertebrae, one twisted chassis, a brand-new-at-the-time-and-made-just-for-me turtle shell back brace (five months sporting that beauty) and . . . . Wait…you said blat, not splat . . . . . Sorry. :banghead:

Luckily the seats in my V-Sport and truck has room for me to bend my right foot (with boot) back far enough out of the way to drive left footed for a few weeks. Now in a soft brace and no problems driving. Will try driving the Caterham again in a few minutes.

Well I certainly now feel much better about my little ouchie.

Last blat was Sunday evening after performing routine service (oil change, grease turning, rear wheel bearings, check fluids, etc). Just 20 miles or so. 70ish temperature and no traffic. What great way to complete the daylight. :)

Next one this Saturday morning. A small group of us in the local mountains up to Julian for breakfast and home before lunch time.

Usually every Wednesday night for me as I go to dinner with a bunch of old farts. We call it BNO (Boys Night Out). At the last one my headlight relay decided to quit working so I had to hotwire the headlights on to get home; the hotwire bounced loose as I pulled into my driveway. Talk about Dark City.

We go to different restaurants every week and I purposely take the long and remote way home.

image.jpgBreaking in a new engine in the Stalker...now have 280 miles on it it...looking for every excuse possible to do "blat runs" the colors in s.w. Ohio are somewhat muted this year, but still a delight to take the car out!

- inspired by BusaNostra:

I took advantage of a beautiful fall day (unfortunately it was a bit more cloudy than yesterday, which was perfect except for a broken pulley...)

Xcarguy, I have owned chassis #50 for a little over three years...counting the builder, Vince Langan I am the third owner. It runs the 3.4 V6...I stuck it at WOT last year and just installed a new engine about a month ago...I currently have @350 miles on the engine and am driving it every day to get the engine broken in before cold weather sets in...

It’s good to see enthusiasts keeping the older cars alive, well and on the road. I’m hoping to have #85 back in the wind next year.
