xcarguy
Good morning all. First, in a nut shell…job loss. Ouch!!! :ack: As a result of initial staffing reductions globally in mid-2015, Murphy sold an aircraft and reduced its pilot staffing for both its Houston and El Dorado operations by a total of two. With my having been the Safety Officer for the flight department for the last few years, I was transferred to the Houston corporate office where I asserted that skill as a Sr. Staff HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) Analyst with the Gulf of Mexico offshore production facilities; quite the experience. And, as many of you remember, there was also that nasty thing going on with my back. While working in the Houston office, I soon thereafter survived two additional rounds of layoffs. Last Thursday morning, it was announced via Company email that a fourth layoff would be taking place that day; I was one of the employees who was cut. :seeya: While my time in Houston gained for me invaluable insight into the oil and gas industry, it also took me out of, and away from, my aviation career. :banghead:Between traveling with work, traveling back to AR when possible to see the family, and the long hours spent at the office, I was left with very little time to actively pursue a position in aviation. However, with this recent round of layoffs at Murphy, I am now using this as an opportunity to actively seek employment in the aviation industry as, once again, a full-time pilot. So, while the severance package helps initially, I do need a job. And, needless to say, this situation severely alters my plans for getting the Storker ‘completely’ finished anytime soon. This is where the shout out comes in to you guys…time to network. Everybody knows somebody that knows somebody that knows the right person. Having said that, if you have contacts, job leads, etc., please keep me in mind. And ‘no’, Croc, while Suave is devastated, do not send Hilda to Arkansas to give him an enema. :jester: Thanks to all in advance.
slngsht
I'm jobless on Mondays and Fridays now :/, so making it up by some side work. I do have a pilot friend who used to fly commercial but now flies executive corporate for Bechtel. I can pass your info along if you'd like... Cranky
Don't have any leads, but I wanted to express my sympathy. I'm up in The Woodlands working for a local oil and gas company. We did an almost 20% layoff earlier this year. Tough times in the oil patch. Hope things work out well for you. I don't know much about aviation, but I have to say that I like flying corporate a whole lot more than flying commercial.

papak
What were you most recently current on? I am a recently retired corporate pilot in LA. If you were willing to relocate, it might be easier to find something but it seems like the Texas market for pilots is really taking a hit due to oil prices. PM me and I may be able to provide a lead or two.

rzempel
SeaPort Airlines of Portland, Oregon is apparently experiencing difficulty finding commercial pilots. They were supposed to fly a commuter route between Port Angeles and Seattle, but couldn't find enough pilots to make it happen. Randall

Seaport currently flies a route out of El Dorado, AR where I live. Word on the street is that they are pulling out and the company is experiencing financial difficulties. This may help to shed some light on the hiring issues. Shane
xcarguy
All, Thanks for the shout outs, words or encouragement and networking on my behalf. BTW, my sweet wife, Robin, says this has affected me in ways that I cannot see; snappy, grumpy, easily upset. I tell her I'm the same loving, caring person I've always been. I don't know, I just don't see it, but she said a picture is worth a thousands words.......:lurk: What do you guys thinks? Kitcat
Oh yeah, I can definitely detect a small scowl there:). Work often helps define who we are. Take that away and it can effect self image. Easy for me to say, but patience is a virtue. You are doing everything in your power to change the situation. That's really all you can expect of yourself. Sean
You didn't by chance take a temporary job as a Vietnamese spammer going by the name "aventador", did you? I see lots of activity recently in visitor messages!
xcarguy
No spamming going on, but with idleness being an enemy of the mind, I'm making every effort to stay busy and productive. I decided to remodel the bathroom...or at least part of it. And notice the lime green rookie stripes for first-timers. :smash:
