BeagleGuy78
So I just put the weather top on my car for the first time ... I don't know how it's possible to get into or out of the car with this on! I'm 6ft 1in and 275lbs Any tips for a fat guy? ;-)
yellowss7
yeah, don't drive in the rain. No way are you going to be able to get in unless you were a gymnast in your youth and are still double jointed. Seriously. Tom

lucky dawg
This is only half the problem you thought: If you can't get into the car, you won't have to worry about getting out. Edited May 25, 2018 by lucky dawg
Croc
 If I, as the ultimate fat bastard, can do it then you can. Two videos to illustrate your options. The first video is my preferred method. And before you point out that they are thin and short then note they are using the S3 chassis and not the SV - advantanges and disadvantages compared to you are neutralized. I never liked the full hood top as it always fogged up in there from heat of the engine/gearbox/me plus driving visibility was never great. Clearly it is best that you not be caught in the rain or buy a half hood top with the zipper roof cutouts and then use that with the sidescreens and a rear mesh deflector. Kitcat
I always used the 2nd version. I'd stick one leg in as far as it would go, bend over double so my head touched my other knee (which was still outside the car) and fall butt-first into the seat. Then using both hands behind the left knee, still outside, drag it in after me. All to the great amusement of the crowd of onlookers that inevitably gathers whenever a Caterham stops for gas, etc. Once in it is cozy but remarkably dry/comfortable. To get out (much harder as you are fighting gravity), reverse the process (jacknife your body, lift your butt out onto the "doorsill", reach down and drag one leg out and sort of fall out onto the pavement, etc. Again, great entertainment-for others. And, one of several reasons a se7en isn't a great daily driver:).
coffee break
Is it just me or does anyone else only get nonresponsive black boxes for posted videos?
Croc
Its is likely your IT setup. I have no problems on a variety of IT set ups at home, my weekender, hotels or in various office building locations in the company - both Mac and Windoze. Do you have an active virus scanner or web filter like barracuda that is constantly operating - that will often be the cause of what you describe. MightyMike
The bearded lady in Croc's video made it look easy.
Croc
There is a third option I suppose. Slather yourself with butter, or olive oil if you want to have a healthier heart, and then just take a running leap towards the drivers side opening. I personally would suggest you keep your legs tightly together, just in case. That was a lady? He she was French so that can be confusing at the best of times. Mike, Thanks for those videos ... It is entertaining to watch ... I will make sure that the wifey videos me trying it ... I'll post it for other people's amusement. As for the other recommendations ... A half top is something I definitely want to get, do you know of any brands that make a quality zipper half top? Croc
Half hoods come in two varieties: 1) Soft Bits for Sevens. The original inventor. Ignore the website ordering and phone them - always phone. http://www.softbitsforsevens.co.uk/ 2) Thundersport - an offshoot of Oxted Trimming who make the seats and hood for Caterham https://www.thundersport.co.uk/
oilteq
Don't open the door too wide, or you will have to readjust your mirror. If you have a passenger, he or she had better be a really close friend.
