I read the post on a earlier page that the only tech requirement was the one on the registration page. I was under the impression that the state of New Jersey required a inspection. I read the section about inspections in the code and it only referred to sanctioning bodies or tracks. Do I need any other inspection beyond the one done at the track and outlined on the form from registration?

NJMP Drivers Club is the sanctioning body in this instance. They will do an inspection in the pits on the day using the form talked about earlier. No other inspection is required.

One Week to go :driving: Get any last minute fixes done. Check your tire pressures and torque your lug nuts. Long range forecast for what it's worth is for the low 60s during the day and mid to high 40's at night. It will be chilly for the first session so dress appropriately.

 

Croc told me no one signed up for Karting this year which is a shame, since a lot of the regular lightweights, can't make it this year and us heavyweights would have had a fighting chance. But it does save me from a lot of bruising since Croc usually broadsides me at least once a session. :smash:

So...I just realized something. From a Covid perspective we are fine coming into NJ from MA. But coming home from NJ to MA we are supposed to quarantine for 14 days, which isn't practical for us, or get a Covid test within three days prior to returning. Does anyone have any knowledge of how/where we could get tested over the weekend near NJMP? And hopefully get quick results?

I don't know about NJ specifically, but here in Pa. the local CVS does drive up tests. I don't know how fast of a turnaround they give for results, but you could call and ask.

15 min response testing at Newark airport, you go past it on I-95/Jersey Turnpike. Google Xprescheck and see what time slots they offer. Terminal B, level 3 before security. THis is the one I use if I need testing.

 

CVS only tests local residents - so you would need to wait until you got home which does not work for you.

 

RiteAid in Vineland offers covid testing. Appointment required but they test anyone. http://www.riteaid.com has details

 

Other options come up if you google "rapid covid test millville nj"

Not sure to be honest. There is room in the parking lot for trailers - go in the terminal B entry and you do not have to go through the multi story garage. I assume the parking gate will stay up long enough for a trailer?

 

Probably should see if the newark airport website has any guidance re parking trailers.

 

Actually before you even do that I would see if they have availability when you want - it’s not always available since it is pretty popular.

I just got up to speed. Your new car sounds awesome Croc!

One thing, and I'm speaking from experience here, make sure you use a forged or billet crank! You'll have to have it custom made. That's basically the same engine I had in my Cat when we blew it up last year but engine builder figured a cast 2.5L crank from a Ford Ranger pickup would be ok because it's a street car. - NOT!

Not a problem - I thought engine spec long and hard and went with an engine builder who knows what they are doing with these engines and has a track record I can verify independently.

 

Nothing wrong with a cast crank but you have to keep the revs down in the 2.3/2.5 environment. I have similar power to you in my 2.3L with the cast crank and I usually change at 6500 for a 7000rpm self imposed limit. Tom has a billet crank and he can go high above 8000rpm.

while that is true, I have found that I don’t have the need or balls to go that high. When it was dynoed a couple of years ago they took it up pretty high. It was still pulling when they backed off at around 8600.

 

it’s got plenty of torque and pulls like the truck engine it is. I’m enjoying it being the top dog and I will obviously be handing over that crown to Croc when his arrives at the track next spring. I’m sure Bruce will come back to NJMP next year to deliver it :driving:
