Croc
This is the ad I was thinking of - car was represented verbally as being ex-SCCA 2009 Nationals and crashing http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?8030-SCCA-Zetec-Caterham-for-Sale&highlight=SCCA Mild searching finds the 2009 SCCA runoffs which were very wet and involved a black Caterham crash with another car 3 laps from the end. There is a yellow Caterham in the bottom third of the field on the video. The crash car was black - again not clear on number and driver - but damage looks consistent with what was evident on the Caterham I inspected. https://www.scca.com/videos/2026894 However, some searching finds this photo of a yellow Caterham in that race https://images.app.goo.gl/B8QjeL49dXHLB9Cp6 Driver is Jay Bonvouloir and not any name you referred to. Some comparison with the wirewheel car shows Carbotech sponsorship on both. Same cage. Same cut down race clams. Rear wings are different as stone guard is removed - likely replacement wings since the bonding lifts the clear coat when removed. Not fully persuasive but interestingly coincidental. Is the Wirewheel car this one? The old sale car from NJ had seen some extensive re-skinning because of the accident damage. A color change from black to yellow is not unrealistic in that instance. We may never really know the answer - its not as if great records were kept! You really need to inspect the Wirewheel car in person to see if it took a knock in an accident as that would really put your question to rest. Tedzilla
Hey Mike, got the driver names from results. I didn't see Jay's name. Caterham shunt is at about 38:20 https://www.scca.com/videos/2026894

Colorado7er
^^^ Jay is a photographer from here in Colorado (RMDiv), he wasn't driving in the race. The Wire Wheel car is almost certainly the Woody Adams car, with what looks to be a new cage and a wing color change. (It was bare aluminum with green wings before). It was on eBay circa 2015ish. The Caterham that tangled with the Miata toward the end of the 2009 Runoffs and had the big hit at the Kink was the green w/yellow Kevin Leigh car, no? The all yellow Caterham with the yellow cage was Rick Kosdrosky, IIRC. Edited June 21, 2019 by Colorado7er spelin'
Colorado7er
Decided to dig a little bit more: Woody Adams' car sold on eBay in 1/2015: https://www.ebay.com/itm/221357821362?ViewItem=&item=221357821362 The EP Caterham on Wire Wheel has a sticker on the rear panel indicating it passed through the shop of Angry Sheep Motorsports in Winchester, VA thereafter. Visiting ASM's Facebook page shows this car, getting the current cage getting fabbed in, with photo dates of October 23-24 2015: https://www.facebook.com/pg/AngrySheepMotorsports/photos/?ref=page_internal For reference, here is a pic of Woody Adams' #87 Caterham at the 2009 Runoffs (Jay Bonvouloir photo): Runoffs09 1589 by Jay Bonvouloir, on Flickr ... and compare to the current Wire Wheel listing: ...and note the dimpled dent pattern on the rear exhaust exit, the scrutineering sticker (?) just above that on the side panel, the odd shape of the fabbed windscreen, the same junkyard center rearview mirror. Conclusion: sure looks like the WW car is ex-Woody Adams, with at least the following changes: new ASM-built cage (2015), nosecone + wing color change sometime between 2009 -2015, and new steering wheel. Wings Aviation
Those headlamps are not my cup of tea, but fortunately the buyer can swap back if desired. Yeh, my car. I can't make up my mind if I love or hate the modern lights, I also have proper 7 lights for it and I more often than not run it without lights for track day shenanigans. Fantastic car, has to be the most fun you can have for pure drivers fun, I just never get to use it which is a bit of a waste.

Nice digging Josh! Makes more sense than what I was thinking. :seeya: So to bring it back to the original question - the Wirewheel car was the #87 Woody Adams car and was not the Caterham that redecorated itself and a Miata with the wall, Edited June 21, 2019 by Croc

How does one get in and out of a car with a roll structure like that????

Croc
Wow! That is a very interesting sales technique. -John Interesting? 1) Show 16 year old photos and say it still looks the same - trust me 2) Rubbish a $22k Westfield and say it is inferior to his $30K Westfield for which we have no reference point to judge value. That car could be gold plated and I would still keep away from a seller with his head so far up his ass he is heavy breathing his tonsils. Either he gets religion or the car will still be for sale 2 years from now.

Black Hole
Posting today since I am flying back home on Sunday NEW Lotus 7 S2 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Lotus-Seven/254283881647?hash=item3b34801caf:g:EH8AAOSwVcFdG-q4 Note if you are looking for an authentic Lotus 7, this is not the car for you. This was previously advertised by New England Classics in CT and I saw this car there. It still shows on their website??? http://www.newenglandclassics.com/cars/NE-1984-1/ Their description lists it as a 1984 Caterham and excerpts of their copy: Formerly owned by the ex President of Lotus USA, well cared for and properly serviced. Left hand drive, footwell extended to accomodate a 6'3" driver Also a note..........car has an authentic Lotus VIN plate, Lotus title, Lotus badges....and is a Caterham. However, IF one cared to 'own' a Lotus, well, here it is.
