yellowss7
Mike, that 485 SV looks like a bargain, but I'm still trying to process how they get from the four individual exhaust pipes to that one shown externally without a 4 into 1 collector sticking out. Doesn't seem like a standard exhaust IMHO. Tom
Croc
I have seen a few new SV now where the 4 into 1 is inside the engine bay along with the catalytic converter. You can just see the cat in the edge of the opening on the 485. Why some are that way and not others is not clear to me. Here is a photo - at top you can see the 4 exit and then downhill to the cat converter http://s3.amazonaws.com/photos.ecarlist.com/Qh/Iz/V1/hX/w0/2Q/5a/oY/nP/FE/BQ_800.jpg What I don't understand is the pricing? Its so cheap compared to what the west coast distributor quote. I guess it is a consignment fire sale of some dealer's remaining stock. yellowss7
It says with Higher compression, and I thought that if you went above 220hp they recommended forged pistons and rods, so it should have some engine work done to get it to 240 hp safely. Definitely a deal. IMO. Wonder if my wife would let me get a third Caterham. :jester:

yellowss7
I convinced her that all that money I've spent on preventive maintenance for both cars has paid off. My two cars were in the "did not have an issue" category during the trackdays. Although Croc said something is leaking from the yellow one. I hope it didn't blow a seal while it was sitting in his garage. :smilielol5:

I hope it didn't blow a seal while it was sitting in his garage. It did not blow a seal (arf arf) but it certainly eff'ed around with my Roomba. 10speedbird
The Fiat and Alfa Dealer here in Victoria BC Canada has just taken in on consignment one of David Saville-Pecks Caterhams. It has a Ford Sigma Engine an SV Chassis, Full wet weather gear and is a 2007 I believe. The Car has only 2000kms on it and is in as-new condition. The Dealer is asking $41,900cnd which is $32,300usd. I went to view it today and can attest that it would be as good as you would find directly ordering from the factory. They don't have any pictures posted on their website yet however here is a link to the dealership. http://www.alfaromeovictoria.com/ In my eyes this seems like quite a good buy especially if you could get around importing in to the USA. The rear end is live axle with a mumford setup. This car runs, drives, starts and stops, and is titled, but there are a few things that could be done to improve it. I simply have run out of steam on this project, and I seldom drive it. The car curbs around 1650 lbs I think (been a while since I weighed it) This is a small car with a really small pedal box. Kitcat
WingsA: My idea of how to measure the desirability of a car is to take note of the financial compromises it makes me consider in order to purchase it. So here I am thinking: If I sell my Cat, de-fund my savings for grandchild's college education, stop saving for my own imminent retirement, etc., I mite be able to make this work:)! In all seriousness, it is a spectacular Cat and, hopefully, somebody will snap it up at this price and I can go back to being a (slightly) more rational person. Croc
Rikker - A thread got confused from the North East area and they strayed into here. Relax - he is still on the other side of the country from you! Today there is a car from Poland being advertised. Be careful on your import rules... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-black-/152173249440?forcerrptr=true&hash=item236e3b83a0:g:hKAAAOSwnFZXVZ7D&item=152173249440 An MK Sportscars seven - bike engined It's time for me to part with the most amazing vehicle I've owned. This car kit was imported from MKsportscars into Florida where a shop built it. A friend of mine owned it until 2012. I have owned it from 2012 until now. The vehicle is titled as a 2008. It has been a great car. This is an mk sportscars Indy. Check out their website at mksportscars.com. It's an exact body replica of the lotus seven or caterham. The running gear is out of a 2000 cbr 11xx blackbird. It has 135hp and revs to 11,000rpm. The car weighs 1050 lbs. I had it corner balanced last year and the weight distribution is 51% front 49% rear. Wheels are oz racing ultraleggera 15x7 wrapped in toyo r888. The brakes and knuckles are from a ford Sierra as stated on the website. The car is runs flawlessly. It brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. I'm selling because I have a small and growing family and I don't get very much time to drive it anymore. It's currently registered and insured in Utah. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-/291825587966?forcerrptr=true&hash=item43f22916fe:g:aEoAAOSwhMFXkpJJ&item=291825587966 1989 Westfield in CA. The Ebay data field says it is in LA. The description says it is in Japan and they can ship it - RORO for the cheapest. Its 1989 so should sail through US import restrictions if you have a validated data plate and all the documentary evidence. But...its BIN is $20900 and delivery to US is on top of that at $1800 for what is a very beautiful looking crossflow Westfield - probably overvalued at that point. And then is my reluctance to send anything RORO as the car is exposed to the salt air and bored crewmen looking for souvenirs or things to do. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Westfield-Super-7-Super-7-/191929329436?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2cafe1271c:g:rwQAAOSwsTxXkGPN&item=191929329436 My suggestion is to go onto a few of the Japan used car websites done in English and cut out the middle man and do it yourself if you want to go down this road.
