Totally agree with sanding. If you personally know a cop, they have all kind of groovy equipment in the Stolen car area to read through paint, and alterations, etc.

Speaking of DMVs. I paid ($17?) for a copy of a file for some old car to TXDOT. Never got anything. California told me they will not search anything older than 10 years ago without a court order.

You can also gain a little space by removing the pads and just putting friction tape on brake and clutch pedals.

Check the SCCA website for the car that usually wins DM at Nationals and see what is running at other national tour stops. From the few photos I recall, I would bet you are up against 200 HP (bike) and 900 pounds. Like Bernie said, the cars are custom built race cars. A WCM should be able to hold its own in Region, Division and no idea about Pro and Tour stuff. Just depends on who shows up. I wouldn't let all that be too big a concern in buying a good WCM.

Get good quality Safety glasses, clear and tinted. Not the $3 throw aways. If you use a prescription, Sam's is quite reasonable. I've never gotten anything in my eyes with them. If you're going far on the highway, nothing beats a full face helmet. I feels like you're in a limo. But of course one looks dorky as hell.

Even for totally street driven cars, people never think about belts aging. When I got the Birkin (25+ years old) with 3 point belts, the first thing I did was replace them. Old is old and dry and maybe stretched. Don't need um till you need um.

Can you try a smaller bulb in the light box?

"I push hard to reach 140,000 km mileage." Go, Doc, go! Those Birkin fender stays are a well known Birkin weak point. I replaced 2 in 10 years, though the car is c.30 years old. Welding worked well. I also got a new replacement from Tom Carlin and it had additional ribs that obviously make it stronger. Good luck.

Aluminium yes. As I recall, it's bolted into the lower frame tube. Held up well and serves as a step for small children.

Food for thought indeed. Since Mad Max damaged his F1 car with a pylon 2 races ago, you may have discovered the fix for FIA's "track limits" problem. F1 needs more cones! A real, but slight, mechanical penalty for violating track limits. Our region gives a trophy each year for the autocrosser that hits the most cones. You might be in contention for a prize if your club does similar. I prefer to leave the cones alone, but seem to find a couple a year. This was my solution on the Birkin.

I think that you are in excellent shape. As good as any purchase on the $ side, and better than most Seven purchases on the reliability side. SO: Let the local friendly mechanic really get to know the car. If he's a real mechanic, not a "remove & replace" technician, he will get along great with such a simple car. Use him consistently if he's good. I had Hagerty's insurance for the 10+ years with my Birkin and could not be more pleased. Get the 50 mile towing. You never know. I went a year before I felt the car was reliable enough to run around without a tool bag. You should be much better off than I was, but it's nice not to worry about how to get it to the shop if needed. Relax and enjoy it.
