  1. Looking good. Good drainage away from it?
  2. Grommets where you need them. Harbor Freight sells some great little clamps with a loop to tie to. For a cover, you can have the tie points wherever you need them. Four for $5.
  3. The Hoodie challenge is impressive. Not sure how it helps one's prostate.
  4. The wind hits you straight on, which I find less bothersome than the tornado effect of the full windscreen. Real safety glasses are a must with either set up. Just for fun, here is a photo of State Safety Inspection Day. My inspector doesn't check much, but I don't want to be insulting by showing up with no wipers. They come off as soon as I get home.
  5. https://www.thedrive.com/news/diesel-ram-owner-forced-to-scrap-truck-over-deleted-emissions-equipment?utm_term=The Drive_Wire_09.14.22&utm_campaign=The Drive_Wire_Actives_Dynamic&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email In most states, they stay hands off if you modify a vehicle years after it is yours. Apparently not so in NJ. Even if you promise not to drive on public roads. We have our share of bad (coal rolling) pickups, but not as many as before. Still...
  6. Yep, John, that's the one. Beer and a donut. PG rated.
  7. Somewhere in the old postings, Croc has a nice series with photos of making one for one of his cars. If you go that route, it would be worth looking for.
  8. Be sure to let us know how the cones go. That baby is going to be a monster. I pity anyone in your class.
  9. Two throats get a bad rub all around. I ran a competition V8 and to slow the class, they ruled we had to use 2 barrels. We went from a Holley 750 double pumper (4 throat) to a comp blue printed 2 bbl., maybe 600-650 cfm. NO lose of power and improved mpg, with maybe better mid-throttle response.
  10. Ha! I told my sons, years ago, to insert a carriage return. They looked at me like I was stupid. "Daad, it's Enter!" More of our antiquated language. Funny thing is some icons still in use, like a Rolodex for contacts. 85% of people on a computer have never even seen one.
  11. Congratulations! You finished up with a great looking car.
  12. I would caution against making the oil cap require a particular tool. Bad experience on a rally with a leaky cooler, so we had to keep adding oil. You never know where you'll be when you catch a leak. You could knurl the edges or if too flush, put notches so just about anything can tap it enough to loosen.
  13. Bruce: "Perhaps, but if you know your bid is market price, and you want to end the process immediately, a 5 figure bid increase is certainly one way to do it. " That is often the point. I've seen it numerous times at live auctions. These things get very ego based. The guy thinks, 'This is too slow and tedious. I'm going to put my stamp of authority on this and no-one more will bid (bother me).' It could work or at least shut down those who are not going much higher. Or if the opponent (remember the ego) is not shy it may just speed up the climb to a high price, market correct or not.
  14. On the other hand, this looks very well bought, to me. An S1 Superformance for $16k https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-superperformance-s-1-lotus-super-6-replicar/?utm_source=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2022-07-23
  15. You might have some luck asking on locostusa.com site.
  16. Congratulations! Since it says "Design" right in the name, I think you may be on to something about the worthiness of Chapman's original design. Of course your presentation had to be perfect against the competition. Well done, lad.
  17. Sounds like a relative bargain with the summer we're having.

    Birkin # 410

OK, the crowd has spoken. No bids, so one o our esteemed, senior members suggested I go ahead and put an asking price. $15,555, ONO. Well sorted Locost money.
  19. "- I prefer driving au naturale when possible; ..." Well, Austin David, I am a bit surprised you can get away with it in a Seven. Everything open to view, no big bodywork and heavily tinted glass, etc. Reminds me of another story. In 1968, a girl friend was driving my car (32/33 Ford roadster with '51 Merc). She spun us on a street leaving Chapultepec Park, between high square curbs. You can imagine I got excited and took back the driver's seat. She begged me to let her drive home. She said if I let her drive, she would do it topless! I could not see the fun in getting arrested. Kept the car longer than the girl.
  20. A lot depends on the club you run with. If the course designer aims for street cars to be under 60 mph it is quite a bit different to a course where you might get a little over 70. Either way, a shift to 3rd is usually a waste of time, but how long do you want to bang the rev limiter in second. On the other hand, if it is a fast course, like we run at Eagles Canyon, I spend 1/2 the run in third. Something to consider. Have fun.
  21. I'd call that a good deal. Great looking cage. I especially like the little side penetration bars that do not interfere with entry/egress at all. Congratulations. Good luck on the wiring. How many have tried Painless?
  22. Nifty work. Inspiring to me. Keep us posted, layer by layer.
  23. Who knew John is Mediator? I have a Super Seven badge on the nose of the Birkin. Birkin badges are NOT available. When I got the car it had a goofy rubber bat emblem, like bat mobile? No thanks, but it can't just run around with a round depression and two holes in the nose. Not trying to fool anyone, but it needs a little style. Enough already, NICE CAR.
  24. I do not think any of the wide versions would fit. The runners (inside the body work) are: L - 12 feet W - 67 inches Inner track of the runners - 38.5 inches, so each runner is about 14 inches wide.
  25. I do not know. It's registered as a "Shop Built". But Texas light trailer registrations are pretty meaningless. You pay a little $, get your plate and they don't issue a title.
