20 odd years ago, I had a nice visit with Jon and his wonderful wife, Shirley. Great shop where you could build anything. All first class workmanship and parts on the Kurtis. They won the Carrera Panamericana in one. Jon built Trans Am cars in the 60s, Jerry Titus's Firebird +. Then he moved into building custom cars for Hollywood movies. Last I heard, he went for stability and had an equipment rental business in Pampa!! Good folks.

$2,000 also includes a "Concours" section, I recall. Some don't quite fit in that description. It is an interesting bunch. People with real talent and skills and shops and equipment. Wonderful that you took your car there and defended the faith. Sounds like you made a convert, but not for $2,000, ha.

You have 4 seasons up there. We also have 4: Winter; Summer; Super Summer; Summer. So, for 6 months it's hot. 80-83 at 5 AM quickly warming to 95-110. 60% humidity, full sun, not great for a roaster. The roads in and around Dallas are in poor to terrible condition, worse that Mexico. The closest place a road has more that 2 curves is Central Texas, 200 miles away. Lastly, the wife won't get in it, which limits my possibilities. Liked the car very much for 10+ years, but need something I can drive more. I may be crazy, but I'm a driving fool.

Thanks, Croc. Not positive yet about the replacement. Must be something I can drive more regularly. Loved the 7, but the environment here just was not conducive to enjoying it. Most likely candidate would be an NA Miata with a few mods and a hardtop for the summer.

The only experience I have with poly bushings was that I could not stand the squeaky noise, so I went back to rubber. That was on a Miata for autoross.

It always seems to me that a lot of "criticism" is related to lake of experience with a certain car. I once had a discussion with an old, experienced F5000 friend. We agreed that in a car you really know well, you know in advance how the car will react to something like a bump. Take a car whose tail likes to step out over a bump. The front may stay planted, but the tail hop/slide is different. Knowing the car, you can anticipate it accurately and already have the tiny correction dialed into the steering almost before, or exactly as the tail jumps. No sweat, even entertaining,. Maybe an aid to rotation. Of course, if you didn't know the car, you'd call it a scary flaw.

If you fit well in the bare tub, you might web search for Truckers Seat Cushion. Open cell or memory foam, with finished edges and no cutting.

My late 80s Birkin was originally titled as Lotus 1965, in Illinois (1990). Transferring to a Texas title was as easy as any out of state car (2013). The usual state inspection (no smog required) and ID number verified by same inspector, and Bam. Easy. So IF your title says old Lotus, it may work.

Anyway, how many thumbs does a person have. God bless moderators. You don't have to always agree with them, but they keep us from going to hell in a hand-basket.
