  1. You rotten bastards! Just when I thought I might not spend money on my car, you deviously lead me to check a web site that wants my money. Right at the top, a compact air conditioning system. 500 Pounds and I have a great mechanic that knows his way around my car and AC. I could actually use my 7 next summer. I would have to put the windshield back on, and maybe a bikini top, easy enough. I once drove a cobra replica (Aurora) in our summer heat and with the flat screen the AC was perfectly adequate. This summer has been intolerable, but now I'm thinking.
  2. Make sure that little girl learns to drive at twelve. Best age to begin. Oddly enough, just today I was discussing hearing loss with a friend - what noises were "worth it" or not. Sport cars YES! Move the "no muffler" to the plus column. (just kidding, guys. don't flame me)
  3. New on Hemmings: https://www.hemmings.com/auction/1962-lotus-7-holland-mi-252131?utm_medium=email&utm_source=auctions_newsletter
  4. In the early days of no-lead, there were little attachments to make old lead nozzles fit the no-lead traps. Not a funnel, just an adapter maybe2-3 inches long.
  5. Kieft is an interesting one. Is the sport/racer an OSCA they ran? Did they do any Formula Juniors?
  6. Another huge factor is that so many shops will only hired "qualified" techs. There is no apprentice, journeyman, master pathway. And most of the "qualified" people I would not call good journeymen. Just a handful of true masters left. I feel very fortunate to have been using one for over 30 years. At the last place I worked, the shop's pathway had stopped 20+ years ago. All the supervisors and good mechanics there had started when they had an apprentice program. American business is short sighted about the future in many areas. Only this quarter matters. Maybe we do need a poli/gripe thread. Sound like a bunch of ole grouches.
  7. Looks great. And even has the steering wheel on the proper side!
  8. Thanks. Sounds (?) cool.
  9. Who knows what these V8s are? I guess the first might be Rover/BOP?
  10. Welcome to a good group. Nice to have the exhaust initiation behind you. You only do it once.
  11. Well, but they are trying to run themselves out of business. Best example I've seen was a big book store used the space just inside the door with 2 tables and sales people pushing various reading electronic tablets. That book store is now out of business. Maybe some executives deserve bigger bonuses.
  12. Maybe they blocked you because you are reposting. Someone browsed this site or tracked the site visited next? Certainly enough to make one paranoid.
  13. Wow! Thanks for the tip. There is a Murphy's near Love Field, which is maybe 5 miles and I go by there frequently. Webb site says the have ethanol free. Don't know if EPA rules changed or Dallas & Tarrant counties improved our "nonattainment" status.
  14. Vipergeek, so where is the station. The closest I found in Greenville.
  15. "typical govt scam pay more, get less" I suspect they learned it from Porsche.
  16. Check with some cops in your area. Texas cops had a fit a fews ago about brackets covering the state name or even slogans on plates. Some folks had to get new brackets. I have not heard anything since. Texas requires front plates and in 20 years with a Miata and the Birkin I have never put a front plate on. Neither car ever pulled over by a cop. Talk to some.
  17. Sounds like the life of Riley in Italia. Nice work on the Seven. I'm so jealous of your roads. I have been in that area and it is great. Cheers!
  18. I have had the Brooklands on for about 3 years and prefer them. BUT, I am thinking about reinstalling the windshield for the summer, so I could fashion a bikini top for the sun. This summer has been brutal in Texas. I have a high roll bar so I think I could get in and out if I undo a front snap or two. Anyway, it's quite easy to switch the windscreens. Visibility was the main reason I got the Brooklands. Besides the afore mentioned buffeting, the top of the windshield frame was right at my eye level. The ideal would be to find someone close to you with a windshield to try on, or one unmounted that you could place on your car.
  19. Be aware that the full windshield will not solve the sun/wind problems. With the Brooklands, the wind hits straight on. With the windshield, the wind whips around and buffets from every direction. The sporting goods stores have little tethers that hold your hat so it does not go by the roadside when it blows off. At highway speed, I use a little motorcycle helmet with a bill for the sun. You might be able to use the cage to mockup the clearance of a top to see how you will get in and out.
  20. Be sure to ask the seller about the Bobby Archer connection (in photo under steering wheel). If I remember correctly, the Archer brothers ran some very good race cars in the 1980s. If they assembled the kit, that would be a good thing to know.
  21. Wow! Some of y'all must hang out in some shady neighborhoods. I never take any such precautions and have never had an incident (10 years in December). Of course, it's not a truck, so most Texans wouldn't care.
  22. As Enzo and others so wisely stated. The horse goes in front of the cart, not behind:
  23. You have my deepest condolences about the move.
  24. If you can get enough tire on it, this should be the only 7 with wheelie bars out back.
  25. Light? Ridiculously. Looks better than a science experiment, so far. https://www.thedrive.com/news/company-builds-powerful-500cc-one-stroke-engine-immediately-installs-it-in-a-miata?utm_term=The Drive_Wire_07.14.23&utm_campaign=The Drive_Wire_Actives_Dynamic&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email
