I had one of those , and had a stomach view scheduled as well. I asked the Doctor to do the stomach first, as I was not sure if he had more than one probe. :willy_nilly:

Modern sport cars - they just don't do it for me
powderbrake replied to twobone's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I have an Ultralite and a C6 Corvette convertible. The Seven is a visceral experience. Fun to drive, and exceedingly fast and furious. The vette is my go-to car for travel, the longer the distance the better. I always travel with the top down (unless it's raining hard and I'm not on a fast road, light rain is no problem at high speeds), and it has all the modern conveniences, and the ability to pop the top up when needed. I love them both, each has it's merits, don't ask me to choose.:driving: -
Recommendations for newbie buyer

Agreed, get some rides, then buy an Ultralite. -
There is an extensive discussion of the external mic on a Go Pro on the Corvette Forum http://forums.corvetteforum.com/off-topic/2972386-what-external-mic-for-gopro-hd-hero2.html

Carrol Shelby was a car guy from the get-go. The Cobra was a defining moment on automotive history. If I didn't have a Seven, I'd have a Cobra.... and I'm not a Ford guy. He was everywhere promoting his cars, and defending his rights to design, and I have to admire him for that. I was at the Concorso Italiano near Pebble Beach when Shelby revealed the GT40. he rolled it in, took the stage, and while it was an Italian/Ferrari/Lamborghini crowd, they all stood and cheered him. The GT40 is another awesome car. He might have been the SOB he was reported to be, but he knew cars, and the Cobra will always be a testament to his love of horsepower.

Welcome to the Ultralite owners group. Post some pics of your new ride.

I had the same problem, only it was much worse with the mud flaps, you could see the rocks shooting out from the top of the tire. I removed them after one drive and a cockpit and face full of rocks.

When We Get Too Old and Creaky to Drive Our Sevens...
powderbrake replied to scannon's topic in Off Topic
This accessory for the hot rod senior scooter just came in via email. Just what you need for the overnight trips No, for us seniors, that trailer should actually be a bathroom. -

35 miles to work, in bumper to bumper traffic , and it takes about 1 hour. I have been driving my Tahoe, which gets 15 mpg, so it's about $85 a week. I occasionally drive my vette, which gets 22-25 mpg, and occasionally, when I am feeling like I will live forever, I will drive the seven. I hate to risk either the vette or the seven in the traffic with the idiots who read the paper,or the women who put on eye makeup in the rearview mirror.

New member, want to build a Birkin - any advise?
powderbrake replied to joshesh's topic in General Sevens Discussion
joeshesh: I'm another Ultralite owner. I built it from a kit, with the initial body and fender painting and some assembly by the manufacturer, and the rest I assembled. ( here's a link to my car http://www.kitcarmag.com/featuredvehicles/0509kc_ultralite_s2k_kit_car/index.html I am very very pleased with the car , and offer these few words of advice. Go sit in the various brands that you are considering, as SIZE MATTERS. The Birkins, and standard Caterhams are narrower, the Caterham SV chassis is a bit wider, and the Ultralite and Stalkers are the widest. I caannot speak for the Westfields or other models which I have not "tried on". Fiind one that suits you. I am sure the members will let you drive the models, so take the time to contact them, and make the trip to their location and really inspect the cars. If you really plan on tracking the car, rather than a daily driver, the seats are important,as is the suspension, check them out on all the brands. My kit came with Ultrashield Drag seats , which I have added some padding to, so 200 to 300 miles drives are no problem. I have to add a comment on the Honda S2000 engine and transmission. It is superb. My engine came from a wrecked Honda with only 1500 miles on it, so in the15,000 miles that I have put on it , I have done NO maintenance, outside of oil changes. It still has the original spark plugs that were in it when I acquired it. For my use the engine is bulletproof. Loren ( West Texas s2k) is the Honda engine guru, and is a great information source. Good luck on your quest, just knowing it will end up with a se7en is already your reward. -
I did the Bragg-Smth 3 day advanced school a few years ago at Spring Mountain, before it was sold to Fellows. Great track, lots of fun, great instructors, and a chance to flog someone elses Vette for 3 days, and almost use up a set of tires. I am not sure if the same people are around, but I am sure any reputable school is going to be worthwile

Mazda, neat looking part. Do you have any sheet metal layout software, or did you do it the hard way by cad?

Shameless plug and thread hijack: We have a 5' X 10" CNC plasma cutter with a watertable. We built it from a kit from Torchmate, and designed and fabricated our own water table. If anyone needs parts, we can make them. Here's what we make: http://www.custommetalprod.com Here's a pic of the table, being filled with water for the first time.....make that second time, we had some leaks the first time. We also built the crane to lift the sheets on and off the table.

Actually , they probably all gathered around their drawings and said "I love it, this is really cool, let's build it"

Don't pull it, the comments have been made and explained, controversy should be over. Posting a list of the line items would be helpful to those who are interested in purchasing, everyone who is interested will ask for alll the options. Good luck on selling the car, and thank you for posting it here so USA 7 lovers can have an opportunity to get in on a purchase befor the general public.

Great idea, I like th eother functions as well, it includes the odometer, which is important if you are replacing or substituting for a standardard speedo.

Welcome to the usa7s forum Jamie. It would be useful for you to post your location, then someone near to you can invite you to see their seven, and to discuss the things to look for. Think about why you want a Seven. Is it for competition, track or autocross? Is it for blatting ( touring) around the local area? Is it for long distance, ie do you need weather protection? Do you enjoy working on cars, and have the tools and talents to work on the little things that will pop up on a seven? Do you have to have a Lotus, or a Caterham, or will a replica brand suffice? Take your time, look at as many different sevens as you can, and get a ride in as many different types a you can. It's not difficult, most Seven owners love to show off their cars. Good luck, keep posting.

Welcome to the forum. You have bought an awesome vehicle, can't wait tio see pics.

Ok, here's the pics. One of the shifter shaft cut off, and the other of the aluminum knob that I turned. It is secured by 3 setscrews which are hidden by the boot. Note that I also added about an inch of foam under the vinyl on the center console, which makes a nice soft place to rest your right arm.
-
Scott, I made my own knob out of aluminum, and it is held on to the shaft with three setscrews, and they work fine. I have never noticed the knob feeling too hot, so I have no problem with the aluminum. I'm at work, I'll post some pics when I get home tonight.

I highly recommend the Valentine 1. Once you get used to the direction arrows, you will never buy a detector without them. I do agree that if you have a lot of speeed cams etc, the Escort will remember them. I believe the perfect detector would be the V1 with the GPS and upgradeability of the Escort, but they don't make that one yet. I use the V1 in my Se7en, and I have the remote audio box, so I can have the audio output in my left earbud( I only wear the one earbud) I can't hear the warnings without it.
