  1. I heard or read somewhere that the difference is in the fuel; that a Duratec making 260 bhp on U.K. premium pump gas (pump petrol ) will make around 250 bhp on U.S.A. premium pump gas. So while the engines being sold as CSR 260 engines in the U.K. are functionally the same spec as the engines Cosworth Racing in Torrance, California sells as 250 bhp-spec Duratecs, the output varies based on the fuel. Or so I heard.
  2. Looks great! One thing, though... if I am reading the Cosworth catalog correctly, the CSR260 engine does not have the billet crankshaft as standard, but it is available as an option. Or did you specify it on the order? Secret sauce for 10 hp? What is that - a small nitrous bottle with undersized plumbing?
  3. Welcome. Thought I would add the Lotus Owners Gathering (LOG), which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada in mid-October. It isn't exactly close to Dallas, but it should be a larger scale event.

    Miata?

Traffic can stop quite suddenly when commuting, I have found...

    Miata?

While I myself harbor no feelings of either love or hate for Miatas or their owners, by coincidence I did receive this in an e-mail just today :
  6. The photos in this article are particularly well done in Photoshop, then!
  7. I saw a post on another forum that had a bunch of torque specs for a non-SVT Zetec. It listed spark plug torque at 11 ft. lbs. Thread is here: Zetec torque specs thread
  8. For using them both at once, I suggest Los Angeles.
  9. Do you mean like this one? (I do not have one of these)

    Star Trek secret

Though he was only half-human, emotions such as jealousy would occasionally show through in Dr. Spock's personality in his early years, much to the detriment of his younger twin brothers Spack and Speck... http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/smileys/VDGkids.jpg
  11. Did everything go well?
  12. One more thing - be sure to double-check that the VIN on the paperwork returned to you by the DMV is the same VIN that is on the paperwork you submitted to them and on the car. Somebody at DMV fat-fingered my car's VIN into the computer with two digits of the VIN incorrect, and it turned into a nightmare trying to get it corrected. Not fun.
  13. dvl, Congratulations on finding a workable DMV - it can be harder than one might think. This is probably the most important step of all! I understand the last of the 500 SPCNS numbers for 2010 was not issued until mid-October, but for a few years there they were all being issued on day one. Who knows what will happen in 2011. Best to plan for the worst and hope for the best. Here is a quick checklist of what you will need: MSO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin) receipt for chassis receipt for engine receipt for gearbox completed DMV form REG 343 - Application for Title or Registration completed DMV form REG 5036 - Statement of Construction checkbook or piggy bank As MoPho pointed out, it is best to get as much done ahead of time as possible (which in your case means this afternoon!). There is also a registration entry in the Wiki section of the California Caterham Club forum that you may find useful. Best of luck.

    Aero Gas cap

Must be considerable mark-up on these, since Caterham sells theirs, which is locking, is made by Newton, and includes the cap, ring, and neck, for £108.09 (about $170 US) plus shipping. I am sure Caterham USA sell them as well. Of course, you would have "Caterham" on your gas cap, but what the hell.
  15. Wild web page, Mondo. I first saw these wacky scooter-like bikes in Japan about ten years ago. They're not really scooters in the traditional sense, as some have 600cc or so engines as standard equipment. They are like a mix of a Harley, a Vespa, and a little bit of sport bike too. I really liked this experimental hybrid model from Yamaha that I saw at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show in 2007: http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/smileys/Luxair03.jpg This one had a great art deco dashboard with wood trim that was just unlike anything I have ever seen on two wheels. Normally, space-age and retro don't mix, but this thing looked really cool to me.
  16. So... the engine is broken?
  17. What tipped you off?
  18. Once logged in, just view notakit's user profile, and the album is accessible from there (on the right side of the page).
  19. This is a toy for sale, not a car for sale. Should not be in this forum.
  20. I read it as 7-10 lbs. for the two winglets combined, so: chin 7-10; ducting 7-10; winglets 7-10. Seems about right to me, and it adds up. 35 for front wings +9 for chin +9 for duct +9 for whiskers 62 total, leaving 38 remaining from the original 100 lbs. Here is a photo of the Freestyle diffuser-type thing, with go-fast coating (dust): http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/2009-01-01_4.jpg
  21. 1) Rent U-Haul or equivalent 2) Move to California or Florida.
  22. Dry sumped Duratec. I am not yet sure whether or not the "considerable lolly invested in your spacer" comment applies to me or my spacer.
  23. I suggest wearing a kilt, with the traditional undergarment worn with a kilt (none). Pat that down!
