  1. After reading Bob's post again, I am now convinced that every vehicle with license plates in the state of Colorado is in violation of the law - even street rods, motorcycles, and trailers. I still am gobsmacked that the law is worded to require both the front and rear license plates "shall be horizontal", but that is exactly what is specified. :ack: Disclaimer -- I am not an attorney, although I do know what "horizontal" means.
  2. "...shall be horizontal..."? The way this literally reads cannot be what the authors intended it to describe, I believe. Every car in the state will be in violation (except the street rods)! This has not always been my experience.
  3. Really saddened to read this. After hanging out with Mr. Hudson at the last two Monterey events he attended, I can't imagine anybody would ever have anything unpleasant to say about him; a real decent guy. Thanks for letting us know, John, even though it is tremendously sad news.
  4. From the Pistonheads article on this car:
  5. I thought the same. Then I counted them, and there are eleven - ten in the middle, and one outboard from the driver. This is the same number of switches as on a Caterham w/ standard dash, but just grouped differently.
  6. PH thread - Superlight w/K20 The owner gives quite a few details, and photos. But what I take away from it is that it was expensive, time consuming, and he ended up with performance not much different than a well built Ford-based drop-in engine choice.
  7. Skip - I believe they were in different classes (if I am reading it correctly?): I read it the same way as you the first time, but then re-read it for some unknown reason, and noticed the difference the second time through.
  8. Tom - My post was directed at the original poster, as per the thread title, and not specifically to carbon clamshell fenders. Never seen or heard of those, other than on your previous discussions on the matter.
  9. The carbon parts you were once seeking are available (used), but you'll have to figure out what to do with the rest of the car they are currently installed on in the U.K. Henrietta's car for sale on PH
  10. Hi Karl - YHM, sir.
  11. Yes, you can buy a LHD from Caterham.
  12. After further reading, it seems the 787 fire was caused by a lithium ion battery (no explosion), and after it had been extinguished, a lithium ion battery did indeed explode, though it was not known if the same battery was involved in both of those events. So there was an explosion, and it was caused by a lithium ion battery, but it was after the fire. In any case, those weren't car batteries. From what I have gathered, the lithium phosphate car batteries being discussed in this forum are no more likely to explode than any traditional car batteries. I believe Apple's iGadgets (phones, pads, etc.) use lithium phosphate batteries, and I have not heard of widespread problems from them. I'm not the early adopter type myself, and have an Odyssey PC625 in my 7 now. But if that were to give out on me today, I would replace it with the Evo2 one discussed earlier in this thread. Please note that this opinion (mine) represents less than one six billionth of world opinion, or
  13. Oh, the fire from a couple of days back. I read "just had an explosion" and thought you were referring to a breaking news story. No, there was no explosion in that case, only a small fire in a ground-use system, and as rnr indicated, a different type of battery. Or so I have read.
  14. I have not read of any explosions on commercial aircraft for some time now.

    2013 bc

Not me unfortunately, but I understand there are a few others getting together for a drive in BC (and a little AB) this summer. The following threads about the upcoming Grizzly Bear Blat scheduled for 2013 August are all located in the "National Events" sub-forum: http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=8093 http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=8052 http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=7425
  16. They probably moved it from Connecticut to New York due to the more lenient marijuana laws in NY. [/trollmode]
  17. I have heard of bike engined variants getting below 390 kilos (860 lbs.) with the full Kate Moss treatment.
  18. If Croc goes for the PC625 or similar, he'll be reducing battery weight by around 20 pounds from the Banner in the car now, and if he goes for the EVO2 16, close to 30 pounds.
  19. You don't list your location, so I cannot be 100% sure, but I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that your area probably already has laws against driving under the influence of various intoxicants, pot included. So why the outrage?
  20. Mike - On the Odyssey web page with the relevant specs (Enersys web page really), the following numbers are listed for CCA: PC625 - 200 CCA PC680 - 170 CCA Also: The Ballstastic () is a lithium battery. The Deka specs pdf web page lists 220 CCA for their EXT14. The Varley Red Top web pages don't list a Red Top 75 model in their current line-up!? Where are you getting the spec numbers above?
  21. When I was shopping for batteries, the cost of the lithium ones was about 8x-10x that of an Odyssey, but I believe they now start at around 2x or less. If you want to go with the Odyssey, the PC625 costs less, is more powerful, and is lighter than the PC680. The down-side is that the PC625 is a one-off bastard size, so you will need to fab your own mount, whereas the PC680 has mounts readily available off-the-shelf. Banner ready to run is over 30 pounds, I believe. PC625 is 13 pounds, and about $110-$120. Ballistic EVO2 16 is 3-1/2 pounds, and advertised at around $250-$270. The chargers direct from the manufacturer are $40 and $80. I have an Odyssey now, but when it packs it in, I expect my car will shed another 10 lbs.
  22. My 270mm Sparco wheel is measured at the outside diameter (O.D.), and I cannot imagine that Momo would measure differently. It is difficult to fully capture this in a photo because of the camera perspective, but mine is spot on at 270mm from outermost edge-to-outermost edge: http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/Sparco270mm.jpg Sorry I didn't see this earlier, or I would have replied sooner. I haven't been around here too much these days.
  23. The first annual NorCal Sevens picnic went well on Saturday. As I saw on a postcard once: Weather's here; wish you were beautiful! Now for some photos: All of this stuff fit in the boot along with the stowed tonneau cover, with the top snapped down, with the exception of the cooler and backpack which were in the passenger seat! http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/forum_photos/2012-10-20_picnic_stuff1.jpg ...and here are the cars, except for one of the Birkins which had to leave early, and so was not in this photo. http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/forum_photos/2012-10-20_picnic_cars.jpg Cars L-to-R: Rotus (with a V-8), Birkin, and four Caterhams. Nine Seven owners were there, though two had to come without their Seven unfortunately, one ex-owner, and one enthusiast, along with a few wives and kids, from as far away as Atascadero and Vacaville. All good people and lots of fun. Can't wait for the 2nd annual event next year. Thanks again!
  24. Went out in mine on Tuesday. It was 38°C. Drove it to work yesterday. It was 26°C. Didn't drive it today, but plan to tomorrow. The high is supposed to be around 20°C.:chillpill: Damn this global warming!
  25. Already in the works. From the press release on the Caterham UK web pages: However, I believe this is most likely intended for owners of R300s who are/were participating in the R300 race series to modify their existing cars for this new series rather than having to get the new car, and not for those with road cars seeking more power... but who knows?
