  1. Cool! An F40!
  2. I feel certain you did not plagiarize Dale Carnegie's "How To Win Friends And Influence People" in composing this phrase. And while I agree the other cars referenced here so far are hideous in their own right, I still think the Aztek retains the crown. IMHO, of course. edit -- They even spelled the word "Aztek" ugly!
  3. And the not-so-tiny benefit of going from the falling rate geometry at the front with Caterham's standard widetrack suspension to a rising rate geometry.
  4. Dear old Dad once told me that no man works harder for his money than the man who marries money. And I believe it.
  5. The writer of the first article must have lost something in the translation, because the paragraph that starts off with is contradicted later by Hiroshima is situated between Osaka prefecture to the East and Kyushu to the West.
  6. I don't think you should pull the ad, as this is likely to be about the best possible place to find the right buyer. And it sounds like a great car! But I would suggest a few changes. PM sent.
  7. I just found it funny that I have been reading the blurb about Bucks County in the various Berenstain books probably about once a week for at least two years now, and I could not place where I had seen it.
  8. I can't make it because it is a couple thousand miles from here, but... I could not figure out where I had heard of Bucks County before. Then as I was putting my son to bed, I read him a book, as always, and he wanted me to read the liner notes as well. Tonight's book was "The Bears Vacation" by Stan & Jan Berenstain, and according to the liner notes, they live on a hillside in Bucks County, PA.
  9. Okay, I'll take the last two - a Caterham 7 and an Ariel Atom.
  10. Oh, I see. It did seem odd to have such a price difference on what looked like two identical engine blocks. I should have read a bit more before posting!
  11. That looks to be the same thing Pegasus offers, but $300 more. Caveat emptor and whatnot.
  12. A friend of mine who lives in Japan bought a new car, and when you play a CD in the stereo system, it automatically records it to the internal hard drive. So once a CD has been played, the car stereo "remembers" it from that point on. I don't know the capacity of the hard drive, but judging by the capacity of typical personal media players today, I'm sure it is adequate.
  13. I went to the Pegasus Auto Racing web site to do some browsing, and saw newly manufactured and strengthened Kent blocks advertised right on their front page.
  14. The secret: I fill my tires with a blend of 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. Seriously though, I don't know. When choosing parts at the beginning, I opted for light parts whenever there was a choice, and there almost always was, and when the parts all came together, that's what it weighed. The weight was measured at the dyno day in Los Angeles back in August on a set of calibrated Longacre scales, so I believe it to be accurate. It is lower than I expected it to be.
  15. I have not measured the silencer. I will, and post it up. EDIT: Silencer is 6" dia. and 32" long. It is a S3 chassis with the Freestyle superwide inboard suspension, which is 110mm (~4 in.) wider than Caterham's widetrack. Engine is the Cosworth 250 bhp spec 2.3 Duratec (CSR 260 motor). Weighed in at 1186 lbs. with ~3/4 tank of fuel.
  16. This photo? http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/Carmel2011/2011-08-14_PCH01.jpg ...or this one? http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/Carmel2011/2011-08-14_PCH02.jpg edit: Hey Skip - Here's an early shot of the front (rolling chassis w/o motor): http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/IMG_3820.jpg
  17. Right - of course. But it doesn't have to be done it that way. It is simple enough to just not put fluid into the canister of the power bleeder, but rather top off the MC, pressurize, and bleed a wheel or two until the fluid level in the MC starts to get low (just as would be done with the second person method). Then de-pressurize, top off MC, re-pressurize, and continue. This method of using a power bleeder uses no more fluid than the two-person manual-pump method, and the power bleeder remains clean, as the fluid never comes into contact with any part of it, other than maybe the inside of the reservoir pressure cap.
  18. How so?
  19. I understand that if there is any parasitic drain on them at all, they will discharge quickly, and they don't like deep discharges. A battery master switch might solve the problem? (I have a BMS, so zero parasitic load)
  20. Sorry, I have no experience with or knowledge of the Ballistic battery, but thought I would offer an alternative to the PC680. I went with the Odyssey PC625, which has the following specs: Odyssey PC680 625 Pulse Cranking Amps 265 Cold Cranking Amps 18 Amp Hours 13.2 pounds $110 SOURCE: http://www.odysseyfactory.com/documents/US-ODY-RS-006_0209.pdf Higher ratings in most categories than the PC680, weighs two pounds less, and costs less as well. Downside is that there seems to be no off-the-shelf mounting bracket for it, from anywhere, but that's easily remedied. The upside of any Odyssey battery is that they have a proven track record of lasting a good 8-10 years or more in most cases I have heard of or read about (mine is now five years old and going strong).
  21. I picked up a SpeediBleed kit - the 400 model cap fit on my Caterham fluid reservoir. Hooks up to a tire, and then dial in the desired pressure on the in-line valve using the gauge (~6-8 psi worked well for me). Then open a valve until clean fluid shows, and close it. Couldn't be simpler. I did not fill the jug provided with fluid at all, but chose instead to keep topping off the reservoir. This method is cleaner, but you have to watch it carefully because if the fluid in the reservoir gets too low, you have to start over again.
  22. Thanks for the notice, Skip. I saw this one too - which was odd, because I don't normally watch the show. I also saw a brief shot of a 7 on Speed's coverage of the 2011 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion coverage a day or three ago, but that shot only lasted for a second or so. The 2GG segment was pretty cool, and was the most video coverage of a 7 that I have ever seen by a U.S.-based channel.
  23. I like the photo! Your friend captured a great shot there. Be careful, though - staring at nice rear ends while driving is dangerous! :seeya:
  24. Your co-worker has a viable suggestion. Bolt/tape/glue a small strip of steel to your plate (preferably with a layer of felt over the area where it will touch your car), and bolt/tape/glue a couple of neodymium magnets inside the nosecone.
  25. Uh... how could you have done that?
