  1. If you can throw in some fish & chips we may have a deal
  2. @Vovchandr is right. I want to be added to the list.
  3. Alan, To follow up, did you get a nose from Wava Utt? Repair it? How did all that turn out? Scott
  4. Alan, They were all S3s in 92. What engine do you have? @fotsyrChris, are you still at it? Assuming it's a Xflow, I have an old harness and I would suggest getting a new dizzy from 123 Distributors. Do you need a bonnet?
  5. BF 15% off now
  6. I got a rock
  7. Aren't there stabilization kits available?
  8. The long shaft 5 spd T-9s are from the V6 Sierras. I believe the majority of T-9 Cats were these. They require a 1" aluminum spacer and a bit taken off the tip, maybe 1/4", 2.0 Pinto BH, fork and release bearing. You can use the 1.6 Kent release bearing with a reduced diamter T-9 front cover/shaft sleeve from Burtons. Also use curly spring spine clutch covers with flat faced release bearings. Also for a Pinto to Xflow (2.0/1.6) T-9 conversion, you use a special clutch disc that is a 190mm (7.5") 1"x23 spline disc. Make sure the correct side is facing the FW. Ensure the top front edge of the T-9 is well sealed from water ingress. Use a light smear of grease on the clutch shaft splines that is specifically for clutch. One from Sachs. Tighten BH bolts equally. Strap the clutch cable to the fork with zip tie. Lots more unwanted advice is available, just PM me. I'm not sure, but I think the 4 spd T-9s with short shafts bolt directly on to a Kent with Pinto BH. The shifter position will require a remote linkage, like Cat used on the Escort boxes.
  9. A clutch that sits too long can fuse together. I have heard of various techniques to break it in situ, but I don't recommend any. If the car has sat so long, there are probably plenty of other issues to sort out. Oil seals, clutch surfacing, etc.
  10. The UK blokes really like the Uniroyal Rain Experts, it's definitely a favourite among the street crowd. I would recommend it but I haven't found it available in the USA. Maybe I haven’t looked enough. But, my point is, a rain tyre can do very well on a 7. 1,200 pounds, the majority of rubber is way overengineered for a 7. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the cheapest light rated tire and try to wear through them. On a side note, the height of the tyre carrier center fastener bung will be set for the Caterham reccomend size tyre and wheel combination. Measure from the bracket to the hole, double that and try to stay within a half inch of that diameter. If it matters to you.
  11. 1+2+3+4= a $400 shoe I would say, hold off on the $$$$ shoe until you are sure that is what you need. I also noticed neither of the proposed shoes were fire retardant. If you were going that way, get safety shoes.
  12. Wrestling shoes. https://a.co/d/bgb4xX9 Or this https://a.co/d/i3WEQPF https://a.co/d/2GPoHfC I think you're looking at $300+ shoes that aren't going to help you with technique any better than more reasonable options. At 8.5, you are already on the smaller side. Any of these slim shoes will do. The wrestling shoe can skip some lace holes. There are Goodyear race sneaker shoes with more support than an athletic mat shoe. I don't think the licensed race team marketing is worth the price.
  13. Truth. In regions that don't freeze frequently, people aren't prepared or accustomed to freezing. Building codes, road conditioning, basic survival prep. All go to crap during any freeze that lasts more than a few days. Nature never fails to surprise us. We never fail to be surprised.
  14. How old are these plugs? I don't think reusing a core plug is a good idea. Do you think the others will stay in place? I suspect there is something amiss about the installation or the plugs, or the seal had sucom to corrosion, and it would be the same outcome for all eventually. I'm not in the brass camp. I think surface prep and proper installation is key regardless the material. Tim, this isn't your fault, but I wouldn't trust core plugs past 20 years. Most cars don't last 20 years, so it's not common to see them fail.
  15. I find it ironic that the prez will release the files on national toilet day
  16. I'm disappointed. I try to stir up yackety-yack on everyone's favorite orange puncing bag but nobody wants to take a jab.
  17. @theDreamer what do you think that steering rack is? MIni?
  18. look: Im just throwing stuff on the wall.. https://www.proformancepros.com/item/5274480-universal-slave-cyl-pull-style-blue https://www.proformancepros.com/item/6899255-slave-cyl-for-clutch-1-38-stroke?keyword=PPP-1307 https://www.piratemfg.com/cnc-slave-cylinder-blue-dune-buggy-vw-baja-bug-cn300b https://patrickmotorsports.com/products/trawil260133
  19. WARNING: UNSOLICITED OPINION: In CT/MA, unless you're racing, I would consider eliminating the oil cooler. I doubt you get any benefit from it up there and its more stuff to break. These 7s shake everything loose. An oil cooler thermo sandwich plate may not be getting hot enough to flow. Modern oils can take the heat. The manual fan switch may be because the thermo sw was overcooling. At the least, changing those oil hoses to maintain flexibility is a good idea at this age. The more you take off a 7, the better it gets. Except keep that alternator heat shield. If you sell the 7, keep that shield, it's a gem. And the radiator maker, CovRad, is no longer in business. Looks like Long cockpit DeDion. Ford PCD? or not yet?
  20. Samco has kits for you. https://samcosport.com/product-category/car-kits/caterham-7/ They're quite ridiculous. They have two kits, one for 1600 and for 1700. The exact same engine, one isn't different than the other. Never mind they are without heater, order matching colour hose separately. There should be some USA based dealers. for this age 7, I would consider getting a water pump from NAPA TFW 42050. https://www.napaonline.com/en/search?text=TFW42050&referer=v2 Pegasus has many engine parts for Crossflow https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/advcat.asp?CategoryID=ENGINE These book are excellent resources for seveners https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=1639 and this Use High zinc / ZDDP oil. Valvoline VR1 20W50 can be found at most Wally Worlds
  21. Lost of good discussion here. Very smart people here. I appreciate it all. My intention of this topic is to encourage opinions as to the prospects of the current Epstien situation creating a short term market sell-off significant enough to justify being in cash for. For those who can move to cash without too much loss. Market timing is never advisable for long term strategy, we all agree. But there are situations one can take advantage of. As New Coke (famous bad decision) gave Buffett an opportunity to buy Coca-Cola, is the Epstien cookie jar association (really bad decision) a good reason to be in cash? And for how long? I think there is a good case for cash here but I don't have time to do the research and, strangely, I don't want those names all over my browser cache and digital footprint from the research. I assure you there is no tin foil hat going on here. A condition of government employment is the scrutinizing of all my communications. Therefore I'm looking for the opinions of others. Yes, you.
  22. Mike, thanks for your sage advice. I'm taking notes. 🤑🤑🫡
  23. Invest in title loan businesses. No shortage of people who make bad decisions.
  24. Oooooh! And it's BRG! With a yellow stripe, it will be very nice. Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-46-in-W-x-18-1-in-D-9-Drawer-Army-Green-Mobile-Workbench-Cabinet-with-Solid-Wood-Top-H46X18MWC9ARMY-M/332125777
  25. I have found on a dual axle, it's far easier to maneuver it by removing the trailing axle wheels. Can you fit a four post lift in the garage? You could stack. The trailer will go under the 7. The 7 will have a service lift for all the fun wrenching, the straight in & out will allow you to keep the 4 wheels on the trailer, the costs of two years of tailer storage will pay for a lift. There's good older threads on trailers and lifts to find here. My notes on lifts: Bend Pak narrow 4 post 220V Bend Pak XPR 10AXLS for 10k lbs BendPak narrow HD-7P 200x100x100 in. or Peak 470P Just know, the 7 is scant, but for lifting full size vehicles, the concrete pad you bolt the lift onto will need to be of a certain hardness.
