  1. I'm disappointed. I try to stir up yackety-yack on everyone's favorite orange puncing bag but nobody wants to take a jab.
  2. @theDreamer what do you think that steering rack is? MIni?
  3. look: Im just throwing stuff on the wall.. https://www.proformancepros.com/item/5274480-universal-slave-cyl-pull-style-blue https://www.proformancepros.com/item/6899255-slave-cyl-for-clutch-1-38-stroke?keyword=PPP-1307 https://www.piratemfg.com/cnc-slave-cylinder-blue-dune-buggy-vw-baja-bug-cn300b https://patrickmotorsports.com/products/trawil260133
  4. WARNING: UNSOLICITED OPINION: In CT/MA, unless you're racing, I would consider eliminating the oil cooler. I doubt you get any benefit from it up there and its more stuff to break. These 7s shake everything loose. An oil cooler thermo sandwich plate may not be getting hot enough to flow. Modern oils can take the heat. The manual fan switch may be because the thermo sw was overcooling. At the least, changing those oil hoses to maintain flexibility is a good idea at this age. The more you take off a 7, the better it gets. Except keep that alternator heat shield. If you sell the 7, keep that shield, it's a gem. And the radiator maker, CovRad, is no longer in business. Looks like Long cockpit DeDion. Ford PCD? or not yet?
  5. Samco has kits for you. https://samcosport.com/product-category/car-kits/caterham-7/ They're quite ridiculous. They have two kits, one for 1600 and for 1700. The exact same engine, one isn't different than the other. Never mind they are without heater, order matching colour hose separately. There should be some USA based dealers. for this age 7, I would consider getting a water pump from NAPA TFW 42050. https://www.napaonline.com/en/search?text=TFW42050&referer=v2 Pegasus has many engine parts for Crossflow https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/advcat.asp?CategoryID=ENGINE These book are excellent resources for seveners https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=1639 and this Use High zinc / ZDDP oil. Valvoline VR1 20W50 can be found at most Wally Worlds
  6. Lost of good discussion here. Very smart people here. I appreciate it all. My intention of this topic is to encourage opinions as to the prospects of the current Epstien situation creating a short term market sell-off significant enough to justify being in cash for. For those who can move to cash without too much loss. Market timing is never advisable for long term strategy, we all agree. But there are situations one can take advantage of. As New Coke (famous bad decision) gave Buffett an opportunity to buy Coca-Cola, is the Epstien cookie jar association (really bad decision) a good reason to be in cash? And for how long? I think there is a good case for cash here but I don't have time to do the research and, strangely, I don't want those names all over my browser cache and digital footprint from the research. I assure you there is no tin foil hat going on here. A condition of government employment is the scrutinizing of all my communications. Therefore I'm looking for the opinions of others. Yes, you.
  7. Mike, thanks for your sage advice. I'm taking notes. 🤑🤑🫡
  8. Invest in title loan businesses. No shortage of people who make bad decisions.
  9. Oooooh! And it's BRG! With a yellow stripe, it will be very nice. Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-46-in-W-x-18-1-in-D-9-Drawer-Army-Green-Mobile-Workbench-Cabinet-with-Solid-Wood-Top-H46X18MWC9ARMY-M/332125777
  10. I have found on a dual axle, it's far easier to maneuver it by removing the trailing axle wheels. Can you fit a four post lift in the garage? You could stack. The trailer will go under the 7. The 7 will have a service lift for all the fun wrenching, the straight in & out will allow you to keep the 4 wheels on the trailer, the costs of two years of tailer storage will pay for a lift. There's good older threads on trailers and lifts to find here. My notes on lifts: Bend Pak narrow 4 post 220V Bend Pak XPR 10AXLS for 10k lbs BendPak narrow HD-7P 200x100x100 in. or Peak 470P Just know, the 7 is scant, but for lifting full size vehicles, the concrete pad you bolt the lift onto will need to be of a certain hardness.
  11. @SENC If the tyre were slashed, can it be pulled off? What is the brand name? It's hard to read.
  12. I don't often don the chef hat into this bakery here. Unless something is burning... And Im worried about my investments. My workplace 401K/Roth has its best performing index funds based on the Dow Jones and S&P 500. Not to impressive, huh? But its done well this year. However! What if the SHTF and DJT is found to have had his mits in the Epstien cookie jar as deep as the ex-prince? How would the markets react? A good buy opportunity for sure and a quick rebound when the VP is sworn in. I doubt the VP would stray too far from the current policies, if he wants to stand a chance in ,2028? Im not here to speculate on how much DJT might have gotten into the cookie jar. He has obviously had his share of easy, if expensive, oatmeal cream pies. But half-baked cookies is a crime. Going forward, there will be a full out effort to find any crumbs left behind. I think its time to go into cash and wait to see how the cookie crumbles. Thats all the cookie puns I got.
  13. Fuel bladder... A good idea for many live axles with brace welded on, inches away from slicing into the petrol tank.
  14. As an added bonus, the car comes with an ejecting seat Padded dash..uggh 😖
  15. If you know 4 people who use trailers, one of them has had one stolen at least once.
  16. Thanks for the mention. As it had already been said, most theft is a crime of opportunity, and better, risk-free opportunity. Creating an element of doubt that the thief will be unsuccessful is, I think 70% of the prevention. If you don't have $300 to spend, Your lock could be a painted tube of PVC pipe with a cheap puck lock fixed in front, accomplishing nothing but signaling to a thief he doesn't know exactly what it's made of, how hard it will be to cut or how long it will take. On the other hand, put on a lock that "they" know how to defeat wirh grinder, Bolt cutters, etc, and its a matter of time and opportunity.
  17. Tiles are used for large movable things because its not always practical to exchange ownership of the item at the time and place of the closure of the sale transaction. A common example is in shipping vehicles overseas and submitting to customs. The vehicle sits in a lot at the terminal while title is examined for authentication, ownership, theft and liens. And if if your car, or equipment is stolen, recovered, impounded, etc, one can establish ownership with the title. Theft is so bad here, particularly trailers by certain people who will bolt down into Mexico, it should be standard practice for Customs to verify all trailers with a title. Texas is very title heavy, due to theft. When I bought a trailer in Dallas, (you know who you are-thank you again), I didn't dare bring in down to Houston without a substantial hitch lock. It took me a while to get the right lock; they kept sending me wrong parts due to a model variation mix-up.
  18. Do we have rub-on tattoos yet? They look great on everything!
  19. I think it just needs cleaned up and it will all make sense. But if its been bought and dumped too many times, something nasty may be lurking underneath...
  20. Looks early Caterham short cockpit to me. Scuttle side plates, top damper mounts look Catish. Everything else is altered for a auto cross weapon. Grungy axle. It sat somewhere for a while. That engine on a 4spd? Which box? I think it's a good prospect for 20k. Might need brake line and MCs replacement due to age and neglect.
  21. @theDreameruneven flared wings are very common. I see them on most flared cars.
  22. I contacted Oxted Trimming and asked if they supplied the BDR seats. They said it wasn't theirs but suggested they were sourced from "Rimmer Bros", who "were no longer in business". We all know the English parts vendor Rimmer Bros. is very much in business. I contacted the current Rimmer Bros. The one who replied didn't understand the question. When I clarified that it would have been a seat supplied to Caterham, I received no response. Perhaps Martin Phipps will know?
