  1. were you able to get more than three beans in there?
  2. Hows this build going?
  3. 1815 puts it as a '60-'65 S2.
  4. To piggyback on this, I would clarify "vagueness" by suggesting one stick to a few rules: Don't over-sell the car. It's a car, they see thousands. They really don't care about your cars special history or you built it or anything. If they're a fan and want to know, oblige, but don't talk too much, show photos instead. Don't talk about previous rejections and problems you're having with titling, registration, or someone else's situation. Don't tip them off that you may need more scrutiny. Treat each new DMV office as if it's a completely new application. If they know it's not, they will have the records. You don't have to tell them it's your 7th attempt. Don't volunteer info. Only give what they ask for. Be willing to withdraw your application. If the visit is going south, politely excuse yourself with a fake text that the dog got out again and you have to go home. One more thing.. If your scrutinizer is of the opinion that you have a race car, because you've shown them pictures of a 7 with full roll cage, race livery, etc, sorry bud, you've done it to yourself.
  5. Some people are in positions of public trust that cannot chance "gaming the system" lest they run afoul of the law. For them, other less difficult autos should be considered. Which sucks to have to say that. But, hey, for what you spend on a 7, you could have a very nice TR, MG, or Spit, etc., lots of aftermarket support from Moss, and have 5" under you.
  6. One thing I've been wanting to do is send Speedy Cables a RS2000 Long cable to reproduce in more durable components. https://www.speedycables.com/ If the upper sleeve ferrule has a C-clip ring on the inside be sure to use it so the cable doesn't fall out if it breaks. Those repro cables will break at the upper Eyelet from twist or the lower anchor will pop out from shock. Either way, both ends need securing. I know you probably know all this. I just want to say it.
  7. I think a forum top category parsed out by state specific subs is beneficial to the 7 community.
  8. Going to stick with a cable clutch? I like cable. They will stretch out. Have to be ready to adjust or replace them anywhere.
  9. @Billy you're letting the DMV idiots get to you. You just have to try different offices until you find a non-idiot. Texas and Florida are close. Maybe @hahuang65 recent experience can help you. There is a big thread on it. Somewhere here... also there is Sevens and Elans. Chris there might be of help.
  10. they took a seat out to separate the prop shaft?
  11. Per Mike about Bob (Mirrorsforsevens): "Not sure on the name, but those thinner wink mirrors for sevens were produced by a USA7s member, Bob Simons. Sadly he passed away earlier this year."
  12. @Xhilr8n might do with with a stick on until you find something https://www.mooreparts.com/products/suck-on-rear-view-mirror-suction-cups-to-glass I am looking at Manx buggy options as the buggy has a flat screen at about the same angle. Another option are boat mirrors. The thing that is challenging here is the Cat screen ia only 12" tall which doesn't give much room for a large mirror. Here's the part where I show off something you would really like to have but I'm not parting with it. (Not helping, I know) There was a small wink mirror for Sevens made by a member here that hasn't been available for many moons now. It's one of the things I have I will run into my burning house to save. I will show it here to give you an Idea because there are other wink mirrors out there. Perhaps one can be adapted for 7 use.
  13. Hey @DanM do you know what that diff weighs?
  14. I don't know Miata diffs. Westfield had a 7 kit for a Miata donor. Something Cat should have done. I wish we had more Flyin' Miata members here. https://usa7s.net/ips/topic/13517-danms-westfield-miata/ Is the Miata a clockwise rotation? Opposite of a Ford?
  15. It looks like SPA to me https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/group.asp?GroupID=MIRRORSPACTR
  16. Verify happy to read in Low Flying interview wirh Cat CFO Trevor Steel, Jan 2026 pg. 11, that Montune in California will be the engine supplier for the U.S.A. market. I'm very happy to see they support the Kent based engines. I believe the smartest move Caterham could do is send us Crossflow chassis and let us build them. Aluminum head gurus rejoice! Another point is the diff. Live Axle? Whats still abundant here for parts and with performance options? Sierra IRS? Nope. BMW IRS? Nope. What then? C2-4 corvette? A little extra boot room for the diff wouldn't hurt. A Chevy part in a 7? The travesty! An early Vette iron case diff is around 100 lbs., but it's the only IRS diff I can think of that still has plenty of support in the USA.
  17. For once, the 7 isn't the smallest car in the garage
  18. Great race car, terrible street car due to terrible streets. Is there a sporting clientele willing to go to the track? At present, they're willing to play Mario Cart with at home simulators. IMO, Cat is getting too big for a small car.
  19. BMW Gina. This got weird quick. For one, the project took eight years. Then this: Oh, did the writers have a good time with this one! To the USA owner who registers in Virginia, your plates must be "VA****". Regardless, form followed function so that the aluminum tube structure slides under the skin allowing the vehicle to shape shift.
  20. Cardboard! Why didn't Lotus or Caterham think of that?
  21. Buy a built and running 90s Crossflow S3 and take it apart. Rebuild it to your specifications and preference. You will get plenty of wrenching time doing this. Or if you choose, you can make the few necessary improvements and start driving. Either way, with a "vintage" Cat, you will regularly have something to repair. Let me tell you, the build experience is overrated for these newer 7s. A crossflow is much simpler and just as rewarding. I have seen too many builds end up as derelict projects because life got in the way. Im am advocate for buying the best well built and running 7 you can be driving in short order and spend your PRECIOUS time DRIVING and enjoying your 7, NOT being held up by waiting for missing or wrong parts from Cat or whoever. No, from Cat. When you have a complete 7, you can train your kiddos to be pit crew spanner checking and fluid checking all points before a drive. So much to learn they will be able to apply to their own cars. Like throttle steering!
  22. Why buy a new "kit", assuming it's a Cat or Westfield, when 7s are frequently available on BaT, Amz, Ebay, etc? Especially when pricing is so chaotic?
  23. There's a swag thread for this
