  1. And again, why DST, when we could have had ST? Is Galileo up against the Vatican again? Im actually not opposed to time changes. There are good reasons for it. The problem is workplace adverse consequences if someone misses a time change. Many companies play stupid attendance games like three strikes and you're out. I know, there are people working at home who cant log in on time. But exceptions should be allowed for time changes. The only time my wife was late for work in 24 years was because her cell phone wasn't set to auto adjust the time.
  2. This is an environment I have years of experience working in. Seen bigger things than a 7 get crushed.
  3. Why even try... Google fu:
  4. This shouldn't interest anyone. I've always been interested in the seat back angle. What is the angle? Why? Who made that decision and what is the reasoning? I finally was able to get an exact angle measurement with a digital angle guage. Zeroed to the top chassis tube, I measured the seatback bulkhead angle at 62.75ยฐ. Now you know. This information makes no difference in most people's 7 world. For me, it's a significant piece of minutia. Presumably, all Lotus and Caterham S3 7s share this same angle. It is one of the last un-changed items connecting all Cat & Loti to the original design. I think it's something worth knowing.
  5. Looks like it's on there And, if you got brake flooid sprayed all up in that clutch? I dunno. Can the disc be cleaned up? IF you have to remove the clutch cover, turn bolts a little at a time in a cross pattern so the cover doesn't warp.
  6. I looked on line (CC) to review the Duratech assembly. IKEA manual style. Not much there but bolt the bell to the engine. I don't believe the CSC needs to be installed by the buyer. Both bleed nipples run to the too for ease of access and air purge. One question remains, and I'm willing to ask it... Was a clutch cover installed on the flywheel?
  7. Omg... You're a saint for doing this work and sharing. For the bringing a photo of the car you are replicating, bring Tony Weale's book for pictures. Since his coverage stops mid 90's, you won't be showing a trail to current production. Tony's book isn't very applicable to current production but you should have it anyway.
  8. Well, then I'm suspicious a line disconnected or a seal popped. A good use for a fiber optic scope to look in there. Yes, engine and transmission come out together so you don't damage the shaft or spigot ( pilot) bearing in the separation.
  9. My worthless opinion. Something popped? Do we know if this is a bad thing? Maybe something popped into place? Try more bleeding to see if you get pressure. If you get a puddle of fluid, then you know you have a problem.
  10. Very nice. Are you ready for all the attention you will get?
  11. Fish and chips? ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ
  12. I'm just wondering if I should change out my Cat rack to a Mini?
  13. As long as you're paying a tax, they really don't care. There's always a way. don't worry.
  14. Do you live in an emissions county? you may not. Then Registration is simpler for you. Harris County is still emissions. also, you can register in other states with a PO Box. The inspection for assembled vehicles: Prior to applying for title and registration, you must obtain a letter issued by a Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) Regional Service Center (RSC). The RSC will determine if your assembled vehicle is eligible for title and registration and if you have provided all required documents. This is the "it is what it is" portion. The inspectors can't work with something that isn't there. If you don't have a OBD plug, then it isn't necessarily an automatic fail, it may just change the class of vehicle you are attempting to register it as. When you bring in this car, there is a big difference between you and the cheap guy who just pulled a POS from a field and dropped a Lincoln V8 in it for $500. Its not going to be the same thing, they will see that, and I doubt they will send you down the road rejected. Ok, they may reject you, but you have time and patience. a different office, a different DMV officer. You can visit these guys and ask them questions beforehand. What is interesting here is that safety inspections are no longer an annual requirement, so why impose them on these cars? A good question..
  15. This: A custom vehicle is a vehicle at least 25 years old and of a model year after 1948 or built to resemble a vehicle at least 25 years old and of a model year after 1948. stop there. Don't let the rest of the emissions and other garbage get to you.
  16. Tom, like everyone else, is cautious on answering the phone. Leave him a message and he will return your call. He uses Google fi, whatever that is. it appears your chassis was not built for Crossflow mounting. If the pesky oil pump van be worked around, then fabing up mounts to the existing Zetec chassis mounts is the way. Tom has an account here but he doesn't get on much.
  17. @3Ducs I just spoke with Tom Carlin at Birkin. He says Crossflow mounts were not like the Zetec mounts. They were more like Caterham type bolted to the frame top. However, Tom doesn't recommend doing this on your chassis. He recommends building mounts using the horizontal prongs in place. Tom says customers can call him for Birkin support.
  18. Based on what reference point? The chassis center line?
  19. TITLE and register as a replica or reconstructed vehicle. Last time I checked. Since my car is over 25, I'll be registering as a Classic. Nobody at the DMV will know what a Caterham is, it won't be in the system, and they really don't care. It is what you say it is and have photos. If a DMV officer starts picking you apart with "that looks like a race car", take your stuff and respectfully withdraw your application. Get a different person at a different office on another day. But most everyone knows what a Cobra is. THAT is a recognized vehicle. However Cobras are registered are ways you can register. Just ask. Don't oversell your situation to the person at the window. They really don't care. The information on your title is more important to get right for post-ownership transferring. Not all states have kit car or replica so RCVE is more recognized. Registration is just a tax system. As long as you're paying something, they really, really don't care. I would call Craig Eubanks at Speedstar in Pasadena or Jeff Sloan at British Auto Specialists in FtWorth
  20. Can we safely assume the ball joints are Spitfire/GT6 items? Would it not be a press out and replace proposition? Pressed out of this?: https://mossmotors.com/661-095-ball-joint For $15 dollars, I can tear one up to find out.
  21. There are old stock MGB633 out there but I think I was reading on Merlin that these are superceded by a new item that replaces the 1144 and 1155 compounds by backing the 1144 with a higher temperature backing layer giving the heat tolerance of 1155, and removing some nasty offensive materials to suit the greenies. "Mintex's new MRM1802 compound replaces the Mintex 1144 compound and some 1155 applications. This MRM1802 is a medium friction compound specifically developed for track day, Circuit, Rally and Historic racing. Encompassing an average friction of 0.43 ยต MRM1802 offers the controllability and positive feel of M1155, while the new thermal underlayer increases high temperature performance and longevity. MRM1802 is also Eco friendly to Euro 4 standard, with no copper or other rare earth resources. It also takes less energy to manufacture." Perhaps searching for "MGB533-MRM1802" will get current results.
  22. Have to call Moss this week
  23. Not finding MGB533 M1144 for Spit on Mosssy. Greenies, yes. And there's an interesting alloy 4 pot upgrade for 14 types. Need to know the OE pad pattern and seals for those.
