  1. Pity that Tewksbury is so far north of me that it is not really feasible as a Caterham specialist is always good to see. I found this article on the Caterham ECU and what they did to fix it quite relevant. Caterham should be selling unlocked ECUs in the US as unlike the UK its not as if we can just go down the road to our local dealer and get a tune up. We need flexibility to fix things outside of a (non-existent/non-responsive) US dealer network. http://www.aceperformancesystems.com/blog/caterham-sv-210-tuning-by-ace-performance/
  2. This weeks ads A Locost seven Looks very interesting. Not sure about the motor stopping - that may or may not be a bad thing - does it turn over? Not registered or titled adds a level of complexity to the equation. Is the Honda CBR the one they call the blackbird engine? 175hp seems a lot from a 1000cc? Sounds fun though! http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/P4IAAOSwp5JWVeii/s-l1600.jpg http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-custom-/301808312036?forcerrptr=true&hash=item46452d5ee4:g:tngAAOSwwE5WVeiS&item=301808312036 1962 Lotus Seven - looks very nice. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-/252178800759?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3ab7072077:g:QawAAOSwAYtWOld2&item=252178800759 Now this next one is cool. 1961 Hoyt Special http://assets.hemmings.com/uimage/53595646-770-0@2x.jpg?rev=1 Asking $50k http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/7/1791550.html Sevenesque - The end result of cross breeding a Cobra replica with a Prowler and a Lotus 7 - a Diva Roadster for $20k http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5335202917.html A Dutton B+ (think Lotus 7 S4). I am confused in this ad - photos show empty engine bay. Seller says he takes engine out to restore and will put it back but then says the Datsun A12 GX-5 engine is rare and valuable so it will be sold separately if needed? Asking $5500 - not sure if this is with or without an engine. http://toledo.craigslist.org/cto/5324729906.html Freshly restored 1962 Lotus 7 S2 My eyesight must be bad, all the photos look blurry although it is good to see at least more than the 1 blurry photo in its last attempt to sell. 3. Hang on - Dave's avatar is new? Did the nose cone get painted recently? :seeya:
  4. The M Stalker appeared in the recent Texas track photos on this forum. So I bet someone in that group of sevens could put you in touch to have a discussion. Alternatively just approach the seller via his Ebay link. Most sellers will talk to a serious inquirer. But for value - its new, nicely detailed, high spec so there are likely high expectation relative to a brand new price.
  5. Still looks better than you in a mankini! :ack:
  6. I have never had a completely positive experience with any transport company. Straight Roads - Gary was a great guy and delivery was done well but he only has 1 truck (and another two affiliate trucks) from memory so you have to wait until he has a truck near you to pick up your car. That wait is not scheduled - so I had to be patient until Gary worked his way near to my pick up point (Caterham USA Denver) - he lives around Denver CO area from memory. 6 week delay over promised pick up date for waiting there. To be fair Gary was very upfront about this and warned me that at the time his truck position was not ideal for my car and I would need to wait until a truck was positioned right - somewhat of an ad hoc exercise. He is the best I have used but compared to the following he won a one legged race with 2 legs. I would recommend Gary again but be aware that he is a small operator and you need his truck to align with your schedule. Reliable - Ship from FL (from the Reliable Depot too!) to NY - 8 week delay over promised pick up date. They had trucks but were not prioritizing my order because they needed all their trucks for the Mecum auction occurring (as explained to me by phone). Lots of promises. They only did a pick up when I asked for the deposit money back to find another carrier. Then the driver dropped it off in the wrong town in the wrong state and 1 hour away from me. He had a fat finger moment with the zip code and the GPS. Of course the driver blamed me until I got the office involved and he realized his error. Intercity - Ship from LA Port to Denver. 4 week pick up delay over promised date. Car delivered missing one wheel and missing front spoiler. Apparently they did not notice them sitting on the car on pick up. Spoiler had been taken off by driver to get car on the truck then he forgot. Wheel was on roof at time of pick up but taken off by the truck driver to get the car on the truck. I got them later but it cost me to get someone else to deliver - I had to pay extra since Intercity did not want to know. Horseless - At least they promised a 3-4 week delay on pick up and that was accurate but still another lot of yodels. Deliver my car to the drop off point and its not my car. Driver had confused my car with another and delivered mine at the stop before....sigh. The vaunted mobile phone contact feature never worked - driver promised a time and date 24 hours before and turned up 12 hours early when I was not there. Cue scrambling from me to meet the driver. I find out when I talk with him that he had just had extra coffee and skipped his rest break to make up time. Time he then lost from incompetence from delivering the wrong car.... Office did not want to know my complaint - told me I needed to sort it out with the driver. Horseless is usually a more expensive quote but the quality is no better. I tried the broker solution. Specified enclosed truck. Verified by email. Non-enclosed truck turns up. Rejected the truck. Ended up getting money back via credit card dispute process. I learned that it is always better to go with the principal operator to be sure of what you are getting.
  7. Hits you over the head with it? Its clearly not working so I would recommend something larger and heavier....
  8. I suspect George is north of 80 these days? Still a very quick driver.
  9. I agree Jim - I wanted to vary to Thunderbolt this year but Tom did the homework with NJMP. Team Promotion (bike track days) has a lock on that weekend since 2008. No chance of a shift. There was a good discussion about coordinating the sevens event with LOG. Primarily I don't want to undercut Princeton LOG since their track event cannot be combined with the sevens event for a bunch of legal reasons plus the other significant problem is that I generally miss LOG because I have family commitments and international travel occurring July, August and early Sept every year. Princeton LOG will be a great event - Kyle and Glen know how to organize a LOG and the hotel is ideal for the event. I am disappointed I cannot make it (although I am holding a room reservation just in case!).
  10. Strangely, even though they are the same car under the skin, I prefer the look of the Fiat to the Miata. I keep thinking that this shows I would fall for lipstick on a pig!
  11. Year six. We started 2011 then 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015. That excludes the mini-Nov events we sometimes had. First two years were SCDA then that disaster group and then 2 years of Drivers Club.
  12. Its a color combination that I would not have thought worked but it really does work well - just lovely. Many happy miles of driving John!

  14. To occupy time over winter - who is in for 2016 July event? Sadly the Thunderbolt track is booked out already so it is Lightning unless we change weekends to a May or June but then we don't get the effect of a long weekend unless we use Memorial Day.
  15. I like the photo of the Birkin on the banking! :cooldude:

    Lenny's Garage

 I should have said I don't want one that glows in the dark!

    Lenny's Garage

I would love a 15' crocodile for my garage!
  18. Sounds like the helmet is the wrong size and too big for her head as it should not do that if properly adjusted.
  19. Congratulations John on your new purchase. Just sent you a PM to take the discussion offline.
  20. Lots of great photos in there to ogle at. Loved the dayglo yellow Caterham The Stalker looked like the one advertized for sale in the last 2 weeks? Also, there was one Caterham there running with a driver with an open face helmet. I have to admit I am a little shocked by this as I get hit by bits of tire, rubber, etc thrown up by my own wheels and other cars in front when on track. Seems a little unsafe?
  21. That is just indecently good looking. Sensational work.
  22. All I can say is that you stopped in time BEFORE the tree. Very lucky escape. Wet leaves are surprisingly slippery suckers and I have had a moment on them once before in my daily driver. I would be relieved at surviving with just a few scratches. Now forgetting an anniversary would leave more than a few scratches....
  23. The Wilzig property is very well known from TV, internet, etc. The owner is well renowned character who lives life large. That said I would love to have a weekender called Carolina Motorsport Park - its a bigger and arguably better track with more land although the neighbors are still evolving. However, I cannot justify buying that so I did the next best thing! :troll:
  24. Sadly I cannot access the link - you need to be a member to get in. Not sure how an owner thinks a prospective buyer is going to see his car for sale ad on a closed site?
  25. Yes it would Steve. And the maroon Birkin looks suspiciously like Kitcat's former Birkin? Daytona is another track on my bucket list.
